Hi all! We stayed at BCV last spring and loved those multi-person surrey bikes they rent at the BW, however, we never got the chance to try one. Next month we are going to OKW and plan on spending one day just checking out SSR, doing the tour, eating and shopping at DTD, and ending the night at a Cirque show (we already have the tickets!) A friend here told me my whole family should be able to use one of those 6 person surries. The problem is, my kids are not so little any more. They do grow up so fast. Any way, my older girls are 13 and 11 and both weigh about 100 pounds. My only son is 9, big and tall and ALMOST weighs as much as they do. My youngest DD6 is small, about 44 pounds, though tall for her age. Is there a size/weight limit to ride in the front part of those bikes? I did not get a good look at them, is it impossible to get your legs into it if you are too tall (like a shopping cart)???? If we have to sprlit up 4 and 2 that is okay, though it would be fun to all be together. Has anyone ever used one of these with 6 folks on it? Has anyone at least gotten a good look at that front part where people don't peddle? Thanks in advance for any info you guys have...Lacee

Bikes are alot of fun but very exhausting. We did this last December (so it was not that hot) at The Boardwalk. There were three of us (two adults early 40's) and my boyfriends son (14). There are some steep hills - that don't look to steep but they are. Also, I think they started a new thing that you need to be 16 to drive them. Well , the 14 year old had driven it when he was 12 and was very disapointed that he could not do the steering. I don't know about fitting 6 on one of the bikes but it sounds like it might be better to split up. You will probably need one adult per bike. All in all, it was fun but I think next time we will walk.

We rode the bikes in Aug when we were there.... The kids had been dying to since the first time they saw them.... Well, we've done 'em once, don't think we'll be doing them again...... Unless we have a much bigger crowd to help us out.

The air was hot, the hills were steeper on the bike than they were on foot, and I'm pretty sure that all of the laughing you hear coming from familes riding them (at least in our case) comes from the exhaustion that the last poster pointed out......

Go for it, give it a try.... You will laugh together and have a good time, and at least that way you can say "we've done that!", but trust me on this next point.... Rent it for the 1/2 hour, not the full hour.....

OH!, And bring ear plugs....Your kids are gonna love ringing the bell......

Thanks for the replies! I think if we do it we will go for 2 bikes, maybe DH and DS on one and me and the girls on the other. I'm sure a half hour would suffice, we are not in great shape but would like the excercise. I am starting to get excited folks!
