I am thinking of renting points from a friend from an upcoming vacation. Is there normally any additonal fees other than the price per point?

If I am renting 100 points at $12pp would I expect to pay a flat fee of $1200?:confused3

Thanks
Lori

Usually, that is it.

There isn't any tax. If you want the dining plan, your friend needs to arrange it in advance, but you pay when you get there. (She also needs to arrange ME).

BTW, $12 a point is a little on the high side (particularly right now when a lot of people are forgoing vacations due to the economy) - you could do better renting from a stranger. However, renting from a friend is less risky so may be worth more per point to you.

Well said!!! I personally would pay the extra $200 for the feeling of security that nothing will happen to your reservation.

Nice to have friends...

Yes and some rentals between strangers have made some new friendships. This is especially true when a DVC member may need to rent the points or lose their membership or for the money to pay some other bills that have suddenly appeared on the scene ( car problems, medical bills etc) and it can provide someone else with a great vacation at a fair price and maybe even provide the push they need to become DVC members themselves.
