? about RCI Trades

DW and I had thought that we had banked our remaining 2010 pts, but according to DVC we did not So now we are stuck with pts that need to be used by 1/31/11. We cant make it back to WDW by then, so I was thinking about putting them up at RCI. So now the questions...

1. Since our pts expire in January, does the RCI trip need to be completed by January too?

2. If we can book an RCI trip after January, do our pts need to be used by an RCI member before January?

Last one for now...

3. If we can book after Jan AND RCI needs to book by Jan but cant, does our trip get canceled?

Refer to the 4 rule. You cannot book and stay at non-DVC resort in the last 4 months of your use year.

No. If you deposit your points into RCI, they can be used for up to two years.

2. If we can book an RCI trip after January, do our pts need to be used by an RCI member before January?

No. Once your points are deposited, the exchange back into DVC has nothing to do with you.

3. If we can book after Jan AND RCI needs to book by Jan but cant, does our trip get canceled?

No. RCI's bookings into DVC have nothing to do with you or your bookings through DVC/RCI.

You need to either do some research on how DVC/RCI works, or call MS and ask them to explain it to you. You have several options on how you attempt to make reservations through RCI and you need to understand those.

Thank you for correcting me, I was confusing World Passport with Disney Collection, Concierge Collection and Adventurer Collection.

IF you are able to deposit now to RCI, it will be a late deposit. That means you could only travel with 45 days notice but would have 2 years from the date of the week deposited to make AND complete the travel. Basically you get about a $200 value at most from such a deposit. Best to book something and price it aggressively for rental if you can't use the points. Also, DVC has allowed one exception per membership in the past to bank in such situations, you should inquire as to that option.

Thanks everyone for your answers to my questions. I will give your advice a try Dean. Its worth a call to see if we can still bank those pts. ATM I may have found a renter for the pts but wont find out for sure for a few days. Thanks again
