I'm sorry too. I lost an uncle in May, and it sounds almost exactly like the situation you described, starting with the lungs, and spreading to the liver and possibly the brain. He passed away at home, but a hospice nurse would come frequently and were very helpful.

Btw, my Aunt was very pleased with the hospice nurses, and really appreciated someone who donated money to a hospice in memory of my Uncle.

it doesn't prolong your life but it helps ease the pain . My mom was on the morphine patches and they halped ease her pain until it was time for her to die, I beleave in them after seeing what my mom went through.

I am so sorry for the loss of your friend. My husband and I lost a dear friend to colon cancer 5 years ago on 10/30. He was like a brother to both of us. I still feel his loss to this day. Hugs and love to you and his family.
