about getting character autographs

I have a question, for anyone that can help me

I purchased a couple of white baseball caps for my 2 DSs, and I figured I would let them wear the caps (and 1 for me too ) and when we see a charcter, have them sign directly on the caps while we are wearing them, this way we dont have to carry around autograph books.

It sounded like a great idea but then when I got the caps, it seems that if a character signs, since their signatures are usually large, I wont be able to get many signatures on 1 cap

Am I wrong, has anybody tried this? If so let me know, I want to hear everyone suggestions or any other ideas. see I will be going to WDW just me and my 2 DSs so I didnt want to carry too much, I figured they can wear these and come home with great souvenirs

i would get the favorite characters to sign the hat and then if you still wanted other signatures you could get a book just a suggestion hope i helped

You might have to take them off to have them signed, I know they will sign t-shirts but not while they are being worn. Sounds like a cute idea though!

Some of the characters (Pluto, for instance) had a hard time seeing the autograph books and had to hold them right up by their eye to sign. My DD used a book of spiral bound index cards and most of the characters took up the entire card. You're probably right about not being able to get too many autographs on a baseball cap. I was shocked at how much my kids (almost 5 and 2 1/2) loved meeting characters and getting autographs. We got around 40 different autographs during our 6 day trip.

I think Disney has a rule that articles of clothing have to be off to sign. The characters often need something firm to press against so if you do hats be sure and bring permanent markers and then something to hold against the hat so a firm surface is provided. As for signatures- they are big and you should try and get the ones you want the most for your hat. Last year I had them sign an 8X10 mat with a 4x6 opening- we got about 7 signatures on it. I then put each child's favorite character pic in the frames.

we did the hat thing a few times... it worked very well... we never had a problem... yes, we took the hats off to have them signed, but they served double duty (keeping sun off kids and an autograph keepsake) and they were easy to transport when the kids did not want to wear them, i just opened the back and looped them thru my belt loop... both kids have theirs hanging in their rooms...

we were able to collect many many signatures... they signed the brim, the cap itself and under the brim... size was not a problem... if you are concerned that you are going to see more characters than you have hat space, perhaps alternate w/the two children so that together they have a "full set" of signatures between them? definitely bring a sharpie!
