my friend and i are starting to plan a disney trip together. and i wonder about a few things. for those of you who have been in this situation i would appreciate feedback. first can you have 2 different credit cards tied to the keys to the world? second can 1 person in the room be on the dining plan and the other one not be? thanks

1) I tried and they said no (but at the end of your stay go to the front desk and check out with both cards and split it) be careful bc they will auto charge the credit card thats on file if you dont get to them soon enough
2) No its an all or nothing deal

When my sis and I go, the night before we leave, we just get a print out of all our charges, figure it out and she (I'm the DVC owner) writes me a check. Never have had an issue, been going since Disney opened.
Put it all on one card, have your friend bring a check and no issues!

We've done trips with friends and family. Last time we went my MIL put her card on the key so we just used our credit card directly for our charges. We always have our wallets with us anyway. The front desk can assign who has charging privillages on the individual room keys.
Have fun and remember that you don't have to spend every minute together!

I went with a friend in December and will be going with a different friend in April. You both have to have the same package to stay in the room, so you will both have to either be on or off the dining plan. As far as room charges you can only assign one credit card per room. We used the credit card to pay for tips, alcoholic beverages we had at dinner, appetizers and if we bought sodas or shared other snacks outside of the DDP. When my credit card bill came she just wrote me a check for half the bill. All personal stuff we paid for on our own. I hope this helps.

Also, we went in with the understanding that we didn't have to spend every waking moment together. If one of us wanted to sleep in or go to be early we just let the other one know so that they could do their own thing. Same for in the parks if there was a ride that only one of us wanted to ride the other either waited, or rode something else and we set up a meeting point. Just have "the talk" about expectations befor eyou go and everything should be great!

You both have to be on the same package; so you both have to opt for the dining plan or not dining plan.

I have been told that you can do it be doing it on a share account - but I have never been able to set it up that way.

Last year, I had three of us on my account. They set it up as person no. 1(me) and person no. 2 and no. 3. On the last day, they separated all three accounts separately - and then credited my account for each person.

I like doing that, because I get points on my debit card for special gift cards. It works well this way too......

If I remember correctly, and that is not a given :), while they will only put one credit card against the room, when you ask at the front desk for a print out of the current room charges, they will be itemized against the person whose key was used - no trying to figure out who charged what.

We don't use our room key to charge. If my friend wanted she could and it wouldn't bother me.
