? about Food Lion esp. North Carolina

I am taking a large group of boys to Cape Hatteras for a week. Space is limited in my vehicle. The only major grocery store there is a Food Lion in Avon, NC. Does anybody know if prices are high there? I am planning on hitting Sam's here and getting one cooler full of some things, and as much cereal as I can fit in the car. But I hate to over pay if it is a touristy type grocery store.

Food Lion is a regional chain, like Kroger's, Winn-Dixie, Stop N Shop, Shaw's etc.

Food Lion is a reasonably priced grocery store chain. It is not on the pricey end - it doesn't have specialty type items. It's where I shop often.

Maybe I am just remembering the expose they did on Food Lion several years ago.

I am not sure they would get my business.

Food Lion's prices don't vary much from store to store. It won't be expensive.

The Food Lions in this area (and there seems to be one on every corner) often have lower prices than the other stores in my area, maybe because there are so many of them.

Personally, I don't like the chain, but will shop there if it's the only store in town for basic items like milk, bread and snacks.

Not the meats or lunch meats though!

I remember vacationing in Avon when that Food Lion was brand new - gosh, it must have been 12-13 years ago!!!! Yikes!! Anyway, IIRC, the prices there were pretty much in keeping with normal grocery store prices.

Thanks guys. I will buy whatever meats I can from Sam's. At the food lion I wil need to get lots of spaghetti, gallons and gallons of milk, tp and other paper products, and other filler items that take up alot of room and/or are perishable.
Any suggestions on feeding 10 hungry teens?
