Some of you say that you camp out on Thanksgiving night for Black Friday. I've never done this, so what do you do? Do you bring a tent and sleep, or do you bring chairs and food and sleep in those? You'll have to go into more detail on this for me LOL!

I dont camp out but I do get in line pretty early. I am usually in line by 4 for a 5 am opening and usually pretty close to the front. I just bring a thermos for that hot coffee (a must on that day!!):lmao: and an mp3 player to keep me company. I also like to bring my daughter's sit-a-pon that she made in scouts....(heavy duty vynyl wrapped around a stack of newspapers that is stitched together making a pallette to sit on) to keep my booty dry and warm when sitting on the sidewalk. People say Im crazy to go out that say but I LOVE IT!!!! What I won't do for a great saving...:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

It all depends on the store. Typically Target, Kohls, and other stores like that with just "good" deals are a few hours before. Best Buy, Walmart, Circuit City, will have people that go over right after, or sometimes even before Thanksgiving dinner. Some will bring tents, others just bring chairs and blankets. A few years ago at Best Buy on the way into the store there was a pile of tarps, tents, and camp chairs that people had left once the doors opened.

Some locations allow this, others will kick you off property until a certain time. It all depends on the store's physical location and the manager. I know that most of the amazing door busters at Best Buy are usually spoken for well before the store opens. I heard last year that the good tv deals at some stores were all accounted for people wise by midnight. Meaning that enough people in line wanted to buy the tv that anyone getting in line after them wouldn't have gotten it.

I have been at stores that bring around coffee and donuts for free while you are waiting, are very organized and orderly inside the store, and others where they have no clue, and its a mad dash for everything. It all depends on what item you want and where you go.

I am a Black Friday freak LOL....I go EVERY year.....haven't missed one since I don't know when actually LOL. You will see the die hards that are waiting for the big ticket items/hard to find items as early as Thanksginvg dinner time. I can remember seeing people eating their traditional feast while they are waiting.......you will see tents, chairs all kinds of stuff. I also belong to another board that is dedicated to black friday deals and they list the ads before they come out. The real die hards watch for what they are looking for and then decide where they are going and for what they are going for. Me, I've never camped out. Would I..........I would REALLY have to want something really very badly LOL. The earliest I've gone is about 3 am. MY DH and Dad have been HUGE great sports. Every year that my DH has been deployed, my dear Dad goes with me....if I told him I wanted to camp out, he'd be a great sport!!!! I have such a great DH and Dad!!My Mom stays in bed and keeps the kids LOL.........no way would she go LOL!!!!:santa:

I have been there as early as 1 am and even that is usually too late for some of the electronic deals for places such as Best Buy where I live. I don't usually bring a chair because I don't want to have to carry it afterwards and I am too cheap to just leave it out there. I do have a lined blanket that I use at the beach to wrap myself in and that blocks the wind and keeps me pretty warm. The worst part is my feet feel like blocks of ice by the end. I always wear layers off socks and good shoes but it is still hard. Usually people who camp out have several people in their party. They bring chairs and blankets, food and coffee. There are enough of them so if someone wants to make a coffee run everyone else can save their spot. They also take turns warming themselves in their cars. I don't think there is an awful lot of sleeping going on.

I live in rural Maine. The only place with Black Friday deals here is Walmart. I've gone as late as 8 AM and still gotten what I wanted. I will not camp out. Our downtown does an early bird sale the first weekend in November. It's several stores, and almost everything is 20-40% off. It's usually so busy, though, that you can't get into the stores. I go to the movie theater to buy discount movie passes, and last year I was the only one in the drugstore for their 40% off everything sale. The drugstore is closing Sept. 22nd, so this year I may just get movie passes and go back home to bed!

Dh goes to best buy around 5 ish. Puts him near the front of the line (but not at the front). He has taken a small tent (kids play tent) others get their w/ chairs, tarps, blankets all kinds of stuff. After a while you get to know your neighbors and if you have to run to the car to get/put away stuff they will hold your spot for you. *(at least at this place but last yr was the second yr he was around some of the same people). They have food drinks. We said this yr I should come and sell hot coffee and pizza. LOL make a bundle.

Now mom and I got about 45 min or so before Sears opens up and gets inline for the free GC. We had no problem getting it last yr.

 I thought Black Friday was the anniversary of the 1987 stock market crash in October. Oh I checked myself--that was Black Monday. Oh well the comments on the post were just not clicking with me.

There is nothing out there that would made me camp overnight in a store parking lot for.

I have got to a store very early as in 3am, but would never never camp out at one.

DH camped out at Meijer last year. The way they run it is to setup lines in electronics taped off and marked. Once the number of ppl who are waiting for the item hits the number they have, the line is closed off. DH got there about 1am last year and was 3rd in line for I think 12 TVs. He had his game system and some books and was perfectly fine. I came at opening with the kids and picked him (and the TV! LOL) up.

If there is anything good this year, one of us will camp out. Probably DH though. He can hold his bladder for 6-7hrs unlike me.
