I was at Walmart and picked up the last 2 Brita fill & go bottles w/filters, since it has been recommended by many on this board. They were marked down to $5.00 and the 2 pack of filters was marked down to $4.00. My question is, where do you fill the bottle from? The sink in the hotel room? What about in the parks? Do you fill from a water bubbler or do you ask for ice water at counter service restaurants? How cold is the water from a water bubbler? I can't stand water that is not really cold. There will be 5 of us (2 adults, 3 kids) so 2 Britas won't be enough for all of us, and I do plan on bringing some chilled juice boxes for the kids, but I wonder if I would be better off just bringing some chilled disposable bottles in a small cooler instead of the Britas. Any advice?

We took two Brita's with us last week. One for me and DH and one for my parents. My three kids either drank some of ours or their own juice. We filled them with ice and tap water in our room then at water fountains at the parks. You can ask for a cup of ice at any counter service place if you want it cold.

Thanks for your input! I just opened the package and figured out how it works. In my mind, I was thinking it worked like my large Brita pitcher I keep in the fridge, where you pour the water in the top and it filters down into the pitcher. This makes more sense to put in ice and tap water and it filters as you squeeze it. I'll definately hang on to these and fill them full with ice and some water at the resort and refill with ice water as needed from counter service. Since I have read these have been discontinued, I may just run back to Walmart and pick up the rest of the filters they had to keep for future use.

I can not find these water bottles in MI. I have looked at Meijer, Target, K-Mart and Walmart. Does anyone know if you can get them online??

I saw one listed on ebay for the same price I got them for. There were filters listed too. Not sure where else you could get them online ~ sorry.

nkkilala,

I found them on clearance at K-Mart near the bottled water in the food/beverage area...not the plumbing area where I first assumed they'd be. But this was several months ago. I also spotted them at Bed Bath and Beyond, so you might check that out if you have one nearby. Good luck! :)

None of my local stores had them, so I did a pretty exhaustive search online. I didn't have much luck; even the Brita website itself said they were 'out of stock' and being discontinued. I finally found a website in Australia, of all places, that were selling them. They were selling them for $14.97 apiece, plus shipping. I was so desperate for some, I went ahead and ordered them; I received them within 5 days. Wow!

You can check it out and see if it's worth it, but I think I would REALLY check your local stores first! (I don't remember what I paid for shipping, but it probably wasn't too cheap!)
Brita Water Bottles

Someone on another post mentioned this bottle, which is a different brand than Brita, but it appears (from reading some posts) that people are happy with it:

Innovapure Water Bottle

Hope this information helps.

nkkilala ~
I just checked ebay again, and they have quite a few listed now at $4.99. They are listed as a "buy it now" auction. I think $4.99 is a great price, so if you're interested in getting some, I would jump on it before they're all gone. HTH

Just a note re: the Brita bottles - we absolutely love ours! Having said that, they really do sweat badly, especially in hot weather. We found that they fit perfectly into those drink holders (not the ones that hold the tops, but the neoprene pouches with straps). That also kept the bottle handy, and kept the sweat of the bottle from soaking everything in our daypack.

Found culligan water bottles with filters. :teacher: I have my Brita from last year but no filters for it so what good is that? If you are interested in the culligan bottles with filters go to www.waterfilters.net. They are $8.99 each if you buy three.

Sorry, thought I would include the discription:

Quick and refreshing water on-the-go
Just fill with water from your tap for purer and healthier drinking water
16 oz. portable squeeze-bottle with replaceable water filter
Reduces chlorine taste and odor
Reduces bad taste and odor from drinking water
Quickly filters your water for pure, healthy water on-the-go or while working out
Great sport bottle for a hockey water bottle, football water bottle, soccer water bottle, hiking water bottle, biking water bottle, or basketball water bottle

I have also seen these at my local Kroger store with the bottled water. might be worth a try to check out your grocery store. :flower:

I have seen lots of the replacement flters for these bottles on ebay. We only use ours when we go to Disney or the 6 flags or something, so they seem to last a long time.

Easy! Fill the bottles from any drinking fountain, or ask for water at any restaurant or food counter (which is free), and you can also get ice (also for free) from any restaurant, food counter, or drink cart anywhere in the parks.

Fill up the bottle with ice from the hotel in the morning and then put some water in it, and as it empties out you can refill it with more ice and water as you go to keep it cold.

It also helps to get an insulated bottle carrier from your local sporting goods store.
