ABD Backstage Magic 7/31 - 8/5/11

even though my ticker says 130+ days, we actually leave on the 15 July so I really don't want to leave it until the last minute :lmao:

I've already starting making a pile of stuff to come with me - old undies and socks etc i.e. disposable/thrift store donation clothing so I have an excuse to buy new stuff while I'm there.

Oh boy... shopping list already started!

I LOVE it! Great idea to bring things to leave behind in exchange for the new things you plan to buy there. :rotfl: (Note to self...must adopt Paula's idea...)

Our airfare is still really expensive. I am holding out for now.

Me, too. I just keep thinking it has to go down.

I fell down some stairs on Tuesday and fractured my foot - I'm basically immobile at the moment. So, I've been keeping myself entertained by reading things related to the trip. Perhaps with all my internet time tomorrow, I'll find a decent airfare.

Rest assured that no matter what you pay, it'll be a lot cheaper than my airfare :lmao:

Ouch! Thats not good - take care of yourself!

Ouch! I hope your foot heals quickly and the pain eases soon. :grouphug:

We finally got lucky and the airfare went down $200 - my DH snapped up the fare immediately. Whew! Hopefully you'll get a lucky drop in airfare too. :)

Thanks for the good wishes ... sitting around all day and watching tv/surfing the net is no where near as much fun as I thought it would be. :headache:

Is it too soon to pack? Starting to think about what I need to have with me - anyone know if we will need anything fancier than the usual comfy casual? I ask partly as trying to be strategic about the new-clothes-due-to-weightloss purchasing. Losing weight has been a great thing - but not for my pocketbook ;)

Also - was anything decided about the Chocolate Exchange? I'm not really a huge chocolate fan (I know - GASP! :scared1:) - but I am closely related to one who will likely reap the benefits on this. But I'm happy to contribute.

I know what you mean about losing weight being wonderful except for the pocketbook. I'm going through the same thing myself! :)

Park attire is appropriate for nearly everything we did on our last ABD Backstage Magic tour, including if we're lucky enough to have a Club 33 breakfast. (oh please, oh please let that be available for our group!) For dinners, a lot of folks wore button down shirts or blouses, skirts and pants, but still really casual and comfortable. It made things easier for packing that we really didn't ever need to be formal, but most of us dressed slightly more for dinner than the t-shirts and shorts of daytime.

I'd love to reap the benefits of the chocolate exchange, but my lack of self control would probably make that a really bad idea. :rotfl2: I'll eat desserts on our trip, but I probably need to limit myself to that level of indulgence.

I'm down to about 100 days until we leave... OMG I haven't packed!!!:scared1:

We will definitely be totally casual - we are on a 3 week trip with a single 23kg suitcase... not much space for "nice" stuff.

I don't know what if anything was decided about the chocolate exchange - I have a couple of bags of snack size ones to bring though.

Our trip is the next one up, adventurers!!!!!! :)

Thursday night ABD Chat now belongs to y'all.

Just keep in mind that the London / Paris folks would like you to leave the room clean when you are done with it.

They are itching to take it over.;)

Just saw this on the official ABD site for our adventure...

What to Pack

Please limit your baggage to one piece of luggage per person plus one carry-on. Due to frequent security changes, we recommend that you check with your air carrier as well as the Transportation Security Administration's (TSA) website www.tsa.gov for current restrictions.

Casual and comfortable clothes are recommended for most activities, although one "smart casual" outfit is recommended. Layered clothes are best, especially sweaters or jackets for cooler mornings and evenings. Remember that you will probably be spending time in the hot sun, so be prepared with light clothing, sunscreen and a hat. The following is a list of clothing and other items you may want to bring:
Clothing Miscellaneous
• T-shirts (both short- and long-sleeved) • Valid Photo ID
• Collared shirts • Medication
• Sweater or sweatshirt • Camera/video camera
• Lightweight rain jacket • Extra batteries or charger for camera
• Jeans or long pants • Sunglasses
• Casual Dress/Skirt (optional) • Sunscreen
• Shorts • Toiletries
• Hat
• Sturdy-soled walking shoes
• Swimsuit
• Sandals
