ABCs of Trip Reporting, Pt. 2-Life Can Be Crappy and Then You Move On (3/7)

Well, I've never been to Ohanas, and I don't like brocolli unless it has melted cheese on it, so I'm voting #2.

Happy 4th of July, Liesa.

Oh NO! I hope you find it. Did you call the restaurant?

I know, I could have sat there all day. Your mom was fun, too. It was so sweet of her to pay! Give her another  from me. I hope she calls so we can talk again. It was so funny how surprised she was about our DIS language. :rotfl2:

Here is our pic from my camera:

IMGP3201.jpg

Have a wonderful time with your family, Sandra!

I FOUND THE CAMERA!!! It was in the diaper bag. :woohoo: I thought I had taken it out and put it between the front seats in the car but I guess not. Just glad it was found. Sorry Mom no new camera for you!!

It was a fun time. I agree about sitting there all day. I'll have to keep in touch so anytime I come up we can meet up. My mom is a nice person like that. I even told her when we left that she didn't have to do that and she said "I know but I wanted to."

I've passed on your number so hopefully you'll hear from her again.

WOW!! Look at you two lovely ladies!! How absolutely FUN that you got to meet up and enjoy some time together!!! I love it!!!

Thanks for sharing with us!!

Sandra, have a great rest of your trip! Be safe, and enjoy Oregon!

It was a fun time.

The craziness is about to begin with the family. They will start getting here around 1 - 2 pm and by the time everyone is here we will have over 20 people!!!!! :scared1: I'll probably be MIA until after we get home on the 5th but will try to pop in every now and then to at least stay caught up. This thread moves way too fast for me sometimes!!

I go with option number 2 on Maroo's choice of food. I remember the veggie conversation.

So glad you found the camera, Sandra! I hope I can take your mom to lunch next time!:goodvibes

 TAMMIE!!!! :sad2:

What? :rolleyes1

YUM!!! 'Ohana! Glad to see that you're all together now. And yes, between the salad and the wontons...heavenly. I also really enjoyed the chicken wings. Reminded me a lot of teriyaki wings my mom used to make years ago. Delicious.

HA HA HA!!!

This is all so hilarious!!

This is my first time over here on this thread in quite some time. I think I will have some time over the next couple of days to actually READ and hopefully get some more pics uploaded, organized...and maybe even some video...:surfweb:

But I digress....

So...how many of you guys thought I would like the broccoli over the chicken? (Was that chicken?? It was, wasn't it??) :rolleyes1 :cool2:

Hey All,

It's off to the 1860's tomorrow!! I've been working ALL day on my period clothing- hat, dress that had to be WAY sized down (borrowed this AM), shoes, etc.... It all takes so much longer than you expect!

But I am so excited for my weekend! My first re-enactment in "costume", a dance/ball in the evening, church on Sunday, and a HUGE party at our friends' house on Monday!! Can't think of a better way to celebrate

THIS GREAT NATION'S FREEDOM AND INDEPENDENCE!!!

I should have some pix up on FB sometime early next week- and can post some here too maybe.

I'll let Mary continue our saga when she can, and hope to be back on Monday sometime after shopping and getting my week oriented.

Enjoy a wonderful and SAFE holiday weekend Everyone!!

Have a great 4th Liesa!

I can't wait to see if Mary actually ATE that piece of broccoli. I have my doubts.

My gang loved Ohana. I did like those potstickers and noodles. Shrimp too but messy. No clue if it will make the line up for the next trip though as there are others I like more as well. Great fun for a big group though. So glad you are all together and had so much fun!

Hi! Tried to reply on FB, but missed you. The camping was great - lots of fun - coming home was not. Our truck broke down just starting up the mountain and we had to have AAA get our truck, Jim's Dad get our trailer, and Ryan take us home - our 2 hr trip home took 7 1/2 hrs and we took up everyone's day. We are thankful there were no accidents on that curvy road and for family who could help us out! Don't know what the deal is with the truck, but thinking we're glad we weren't on our way to Phoenix - might have to sell the trailer to buy Jim a vechicle to drive - but all things work together for good :goodvibes

I'm glad the camping was fun, sorry about the truck. :headache: Non working cars don't last long around here, hubby has to much fun fixing them! :goodvibes To bad we didn't live closer, he could possibly fix the truck for y'all.

Liesa, I'm so glad you posted the DL TR here!! I'm so bad about getting to any of the other threads, just ask Glenn and Dan and Marv, and, and, and.

Just wanted to share my excitement here - Mini DISmeet happening here in my town on Thursday! Sandra(LadyLyon) is coming to visit her parents, and we are meeting up for coffee! She'll be posting her pic so I can recognize her. Anyone else want to come to podunkville and meet us?

 Dis meets are always a good time!

The star of our show (Walt always had his mind on presenting a show) is my dear, and always in my mind, incredibly beautiful Aunt Cherrie.

Disney2011217.jpg

She's more than beautiful! You can clearly see the light of Christ she carries within her.

Next is my mom. I love her more than life itself.
Disney2011374.jpg

Okay.....how stinkin cute is she?!? Now I know where you get your sweet spirit, and orneriness from.

Of course, there is also myself. I give you warm greetings.

IMG_0557.jpg

:rotfl: Someone else already beat me to it, double Liesa greetings!! Or would that be quadruple Liesa greetings? :scratchin And what in the world is stuck on that mirror! Ewwww!

(that was pretty random, but I think some of you will find it at least a little amusing)

DisneyTrip2010133.jpg

Lastly, for one of our 3 days my aunt’s and mom’s cousin, Carol, came and met us for the day. She was one of the “trio” who would spend summer days at Disneyland. Mom, Aunt Cherrie and Carol spent many a good time romping around together making those same memories I will pass along on our journey. She still lives in Burbank, only minutes from the original Disney studio, and has some really cool personal history herself from the mid- 50’s at the Disney company. I hope they are as fun for you to learn about as they have been for me!

Disney2011480.jpg

It's so great you got to spend some time with these amazing women, I can't wait to hear all about it.

I like to take my time in the story telling, so hope you will bear with me as I try to re-create for you,

Pee Before Pooh

Wha…??!!?? Yeah, I just had to use it. It was the theme of our trip. Number 1, that is. With Cherrie having less and less “function”, and me with my morning coffee consumption, and mom with her 4 gallons of iced tea with lunch, it was a party in the lady’s room- again, and again, and again….

Disney2011240.jpg

I would also be someone that joined in on the P party in the potty. I know where every bathroom is in the parks.

I guess I'm in good company then, I'm all about having a party in the potty room! If I don't know where they are when I get somewhere, I assuredly will before long!

I hope I can stay on top of both TRs at the same time- eek, a bit daunting!

You'll do fine.

There's a lot of charm at the DLR! Lots of different attractions and you can't beat the weather!!

Weather sure can't be beat, I love the magic that's captured there, not quite the same in WDW, not bad differences, just not the same.

Yes, the sun definitely had a lot to with that. But I also had to keep my chin up... large-ish story on the toxicity of my step-uncle... more forthcoming. [/QUOTE]

Your uncle....:sad2: He sounds very bitter and has obviously been broken somewhere along the way, doesn't give him the okay to be abusive to people. I don't know how y'all tolerated it, your poor aunt!

:rotfl2::rotfl2: I know the feeling, but I am caught up. For now. :rolleyes1
Great way to arrive in style Liesa. Donkey man sounds a little scared of losing his wife and maybe overwhelmed by it all. But if he was always like that then well ..... the name fits.

I was thinking this too. I have a friend who is now stuck in a wheel chair in the last few years, her husband is the primary care-giver, works a full time job on top of that and has become very bitter. Still isn't an excuse to be abusive to ANYONE is it? :sad2: And from the sounds of it, he was well on his way to being this way before the aunt's illness. :sad2:

Looks like a good time! :thumbsup2 Wish I could have been there.

Hope your long weekend is a good one Liesa!! Love you, miss talking with you. :goodvibes

Hey there! Welcome back! I don't think you had anyone fooled with the broccoli picture! :lmao:

Have an wonderful time - can't wait to see and hear about the re-enactment!

Hope everyone is having a wonderful holiday weekend!

Looks like a good time was had by all at 'Ohana. Even thought my last visit was the greatest I would like to go back in the future. The food really is good. Maybe if I had had 2 Lapus I would have relaxed more.

I'm going to vote for #2 too.

Liesa I hope you enjoy your weekend and I can't wait to see the pictures.

Happy 4th of July!

Well, I've never been to Ohanas, and I don't like brocolli unless it has melted cheese on it, so I'm voting #2.

Happy 4th of July, Liesa.

I'm with you, Kathy!! Brocolli is icky unless smothered in something!

I love those won-tons too.

Of the two items you showed, I guess I'd go with #2.

Yeah, I pretty much figured #2 would win hands down. Or is it 'up' over and over, and over?

I FOUND THE CAMERA!!!

Yay! for finding the camera!

I won't be on much either for a bit... there are some things going on personally in my family that need some careful attention. Wish I could say more, but really need to focus here for a bit.

Another vote for chicken! (It was chicken, right?)

YUM!!! 'Ohana! Glad to see that you're all together now. And yes, between the salad and the wontons...heavenly. I also really enjoyed the chicken wings. Reminded me a lot of teriyaki wings my mom used to make years ago. Delicious.

Hey! My mom used to make those also, but I think with mini legs? I'll have to ask her about that. Isn't that salad to die for?? Love that dressing!

I'm going with #2!!! Brocoli is good but never a #1 !!!

Good assessment, Rosie. Never good enough to be #1!

Praying for your situation! It must really need the careful attention you mention for you to be up this early? late??? :confused3

Yep, complete with hilariousness... :lmao:

Looks like you didn't get any time to read or update- which means your weekend was more fun than you thought it might be?? :confused3 I hope so!

I don't think I fooled anyone! We know how much you ate at the Rainforest a zillion years ago! I think that was the first time I ever teased you about your veggies...

Same to you Liesa! Hope you have a wonderful time with all the activities!

THanks! We did! But you can pray for me.... stuff going on. Kids....:sad2:

Who knows!! DID YOU, MARY??!! I think I doubt it too honestly. Although, she did pick it up off her own plate, so that makes me wonder.

It is a good place for a big group, but quite noisy. It was hard to have a conversation without practically yelling. And I"m totally with you, I'd pick a half dozen places to eat over 'Ohana first.

Liesa, I'm so glad you posted the DL TR here!! I'm so bad about getting to any of the other threads, just ask Glenn and Dan and Marv, and, and, and.

I do know about getting to other threads lately! It's beena busy summer with added time sucker of yard work. Winter is so much easier to DIS with less to do outside, and fewer activities away from home.

I guess I'm in good company then, I'm all about having a party in the potty room! If I don't know where they are when I get somewhere, I assuredly will before long!

You'd better get researching! THESE ARE IMPORTANT THINGS!!!

Your uncle....:sad2: He sounds very bitter and has obviously been broken somewhere along the way, doesn't give him the okay to be abusive to people. I don't know how y'all tolerated it, your poor aunt!

Yes, I imagine he was broken along the way somewhere. Sad.

Hope your long weekend is a good one Liesa!! Love you, miss talking with you. :goodvibes

Sorry I missed your call the other day! I will try to call tomorrow. But not sure when; please pray for me as some things are coming down the pipeline that are a bit difficult to deal with.
