ABCs of Trip Reporting, Pt. 2-Life Can Be Crappy and Then You Move On (3/7)

Glad to see your trip has hardley begun and your already making some magical memories!!

Yeah an hour straight would drive me a little batty too!! lol

My sister is a Disney fan but nothing like me!!

That's why we do them on different nights. We'll normally do Fantasmic! and Fireworks on one night and World of Color another night. I've got to see my shows!! That's part of the Disney experience.

Tammie - We've made it safe and sound to Oregon!! See you tomorrow!!

:banana:I'm excited! Can't wait to see you tomorrow! I see your picture:goodvibes

The VIllian!! oh thank you for not letting him getting under your skin - and for taking it for what its worth!! :lovestruc You are awesome Leisa!!

that $15 fee - just think of it in terms of the "checked luggage" fees - you see, since Cell Phones - hotels are no longer collect the phone fees- etc - so its parking to recoup their losses!!! I think the Swan and Dolphin also have those charges ( as well as a 'resort" fee - they give you a paper for those I think )

and your drive!! Makes me think of Chicago!! Yep, you must get into the zone, which is all well and good if you drive it a few times a month... or season.... but first time??? WTG!!

Donkey-man, he is the kinda guy that you wonder if your eyes will just get stuck in the back of your head from the constant rolling of them, AT Donkey-man.
sheesh, what are ya a bunch of teenagers? hmnmnmn well on second thought....:lmao:

Did you know that some of the good neighbor hotels have a shorter walking distance to the front of the park/parks than the Disneyland Hotel? weird.:confused3

KIM:surfweb:

Sitting in SAN right with 2 hours left of waiting. T'will all be over soon and back to dirty floors and cooking for a bunch.

Well, it wasn't as unique or wonderful as the first, but hope you like it nonetheless. Maybe Lauren or Marlene would like it?

It did turn out WAY better than I could have ever hoped, Glenn, thanks for being so understanding.

How could anyone have ever thought differently?? :confused3 You're special!!!

Well, TECHNICALLY, yes, they were all different... if you want to get "technical" about it. :lmao:

I ended up putting it up on both! And GUESS WHAT??!! I've already met another Salemite!!!! :woohoo::woohoo::woohoo:

No worries, now everyone can find it!! :yay: More work for me, but easier for y'all!

OK, here it is!

glad you put up a fight for it. It's not like WOW, AMAZING!, but fun and something you can potentially use every day and make you smile :)

Oh a Salemite! I thought it said Semmonite or something :rotfl2: I see that isn't even a word, but I pictured the Isreali's in top hats and curls - hmmm - Mennonites? :rotfl2:

its actually my precious, but i knew what you were talking about.
:thumbsup2

Oh Yeah! This is not my week for trivia - thanks for being understanding for an old lady! :goodvibes

I told my mom about our meet and she's even up for meeting new people. Especially ones local to her!!

Yippee! I love to meet new people, too. :yay:

Donkey-man, he is the kinda guy that you wonder if your eyes will just get stuck in the back of your head from the constant rolling of them, AT Donkey-man.
sheesh, what are ya a bunch of teenagers? hmnmnmn well on second thought....:lmao:

Did you know that some of the good neighbor hotels have a shorter walking distance to the front of the park/parks than the Disneyland Hotel? weird.:confused3

KIM:surfweb:

Where do you walk in from? I can only picture DTD now - it feels like the end opposite DLH is sealed off, but I don't know why:confused3 DTD is definitely huge!

Why do I detect a little sarcasm there :confused3;):rotfl2: For your information I got a letter from one of the Lake George Crew saying how very SPECIAL Carol and I were :snooty::rotfl2::rotfl2:
No sarcasm. You know there are many wonderful words we use to describe our dear, sweet Rosie! As for Carol (to keep from getting myself in trouble) I'll just say she MUST be special to have Elvis hitting on her!!! ;)
Great Start Liesa !! Just tell Donkey Man that you have an on call expert available anytime !!Believe me what I don't know I;ll invent just to make him look like a Total "Donkey":rotfl2::rotfl2:
So that makes YOU the "smart" donkey??? :confused3

She looks like 5 Million Bucks!!! I hate when the elderly get neglected and family members don't want to take the time out for them. I've seen this happened far too much in the 5 years I worked at a neighborhood "mom & pop" pharmacy. This warms my heart to see your Aunt so happy. :lovestruc

Wow, Your Uncle sounds like a real piece of work. I know from experience caring for someone with a disability is no walk in the park (my mom has Multiple Sclerosis) but you're not some irresponsible teenagers. :sad2: Glad to hear everything with the room was up to Uncle Jerkface's standards.

IMG_0083.jpg

OOOOO So Pretty!!!:love::thumbsup2

Can't wait to hear more about DL and your lovely Mother and Aunt!!

OK, so I find this fun looking TR and start reading only to find I'm over 1100 pages late to the game. But this Liesa lady is on the west coast too and since I always feel a million miles away from DW it would be nice to know another Disney addict over here (ish). All right, I'll sub but I doubt I'll ever be caught up!!

Hi, I'm Laurie from the Seattle area and also mom to five. Looking forward to joining your adventure!

enjoyed the update, thanks....and cant wait to see more pics of disneyland.

I did earn the bragging rights of NOT being flipped off once though, nor did I have any accidents along the way. Yay for me!
thats because you were going 80 you couldnt see them flipping you off.

"DonkeyMan" sounds like a barrell of laughs. I'm glad you left him back at the ranch! I guess everyone is aware of how he is, since you all have a code-name for him. That always helps, so you don't have to ask yourself, "is it just me?"

marv gets called a donkey sometimes, but in a totally different context.

well even though it is man talk we still let marv join in.

they are a must for hot days, and i also hear that they keep pop cans cool
:confused3

So, why don't you just drink it before it gets warm?? :confused3

i actually just put that up there, because i didnt get my prize when i typed that, but it came the next day after that.

did anyone get the thing you sent me?

which by the way parker has taken from me.

i dont mind he loves it.

thanks
:thumbsup2

Yes, all the winners got one, Dan. I have to re-do the one for Rosie, though, I messed up on the lettering. I still owe you something for Round One right?? Eek, I'[ve lost track now!

You could even give them grades like Jordan does.

We sure did!! At first Aunt Cherrie was rather confused, but after a couple bathrooms she thought it was funny and joined in!

Oh boy a new update!

Sorry your Step-Uncle was such a pain. Sounds like the kind of guy who would complain about all the little things he has to do, but doesn't want anyone else to help to make it an easier for him. In general he sounds like a "Debbie Downer". Good thing it was a girls only trip.:woohoo:

Looking forward to "seeing" the parks.

He was a pain, and he's always been like that- even before all this. Toxic is how my mom describes him. And yes, it was a very good thing it was a girls' trip!!!

"DonkeyMan" sounds like a barrell of laughs. I'm glad you left him back at the ranch! I guess everyone is aware of how he is, since you all have a code-name for him. That always helps, so you don't have to ask yourself, "is it just me?"

Nope, he's always been like that, Glenn. And I don't think I made myself very clear in the chapter, he is actually called something kind of LIKE "Donkeyman"; if you catch my drift. It is definitely NOT just me and my father won't even go there anymore it is so bad.

Really neat to see pictures of Disneyland. Thanks for sharing such amazing updates.

You are so welcome! There are plenty more from where those came from!

SC, but we used to live in NC when I lived about a mile or two from Glenn.........and didn't know it!!! :confused3

Oh, and lots, lots, lots of dust and pollen this time of year! I'm pretty sure it is the peak season for it, from now until about the time this mini TR comes to a close.......:rolleyes1

Oops, sorry! I knew you and Pat each lived in one of them, but couldn't remember who was from where! Such a shame you and glenn missed each other all those years!

As for the length of this TR... who knows!!! Life is so busy now!

Why? Did you stick your toe in there?

Weren't we talking about YOUR nose??!! How did MY toe get into this conversation!? :lmao:

Wow, you are "OFF" to a great start on your DL trip!.........
Ticked OFF by DonkeyMan.
Not Flipped OFF by Southern California drivers......and,
Brushed OFF the melancholy feeling of change with time.

Great pick up on that! There must be some word for that literary technique I used and didn't know it! :rotfl2:

I think when I attended a computer convention in Anaheim a few years ago we stayed in a hotel on Katella Ave. Fun trip with an evening at Disneyland! I made the round trip drive to San Diego just to eat at Olde Town Mexican Cafe..... :woohoo:

There a about 34 zillion hotels on Katella. Who knows which one you were in! Did it have free parking? That separates them from ok, to great in my book!

You drove all they way to SD for dinner??!! WOW, that's dedication!

Why do I detect a little sarcasm there :confused3;):rotfl2: For your information I got a letter from one of the Lake George Crew saying how very SPECIAL Carol and I were :snooty::rotfl2::rotfl2:

Who wouldn't think you two are special?! :confused3

Great Start Liesa !! Just tell Donkey Man that you have an on call expert available anytime !!Believe me what I don't know I;ll invent just to make him look like a Total "Donkey":rotfl2::rotfl2:

Hmmmm... if there's a next time we can hire you! :thumbsup2

no drinking and scrolling. :rotfl2:

Allergy season in NC is every month EXCEPT August ( believe it or not ) and from hard freeze to Feb. :sad2:

Great way to arrive in style Liesa. Donkey man sounds a little scared of losing his wife and maybe overwhelmed by it all. But if he was always like that then well ..... the name fits.

HI Pat!! Golly I'm having a hard time keeping caught up on this thread, let alone keeping caught up everywhere else! This is turning out to be a busy summer for me!! Lots of playing to do; we Oregonians only get a couple months of sunshine, so we have to play hard during them!!

My husband is suffering horribly with them! His asthma has really kicked in now that the grasses are in full bloom. We are hoping that they mow it soon!

Unfortunately, he has always been that way- very condescending and always has a sermon ready to dish out- quizzing you to see you have the right answers.

The drive into Disneyland looks nothing like what I imagined. There's so much non-Disney stuff around there. I'm glad the room met everyone's needs.

Were you really a CM at Blue Bayou? That must have been fun.

Non-Disney stuff is definitely everywhere- so it's harder to get that FULLY immersed feeling there. IHOP, HoJos, a zillion other hotels, you name it- it's all right there.

Yep, I really was. I still have my nametag too!! Fun times, those were!

Liesa, I was a little bit behind, but I'm caught up now. Your Aunt and Mom are truly beautiful ladies. You had me cracking up at the P....before Pooh...I could hear my darling hubby saying that.

Doesn't every family have one of those "donkeyman"? I know mine does (probably more than one!).

Can't wait to read more.

I am desperately behind on both yours and Rosie's as well! I will really try hard to find time to get over there today. We have tons of sewing projects going right now as we try to get ready for our first civil war re-enactment this weekend, but I do want to get some DIStime in too!

It was so random, yet so appropriate for the situation- one of those golden one-liners that is so funny!

Yes, I'm afraid every family has at least one to deal with. Some more annoying that others. :sad2:

Well the base is right there!! lol I'll hopefully get to meet you too sometime in the near future!!

That's true! I wonder if they'd set up a big trampoline that I could land on.

Yeah an hour straight would drive me a little batty too!! lol

That's why we do them on different nights. We'll normally do Fantasmic! and Fireworks on one night and World of Color another night. I've got to see my shows!! That's part of the Disney experience.

That's waht we ended up doing- different nights. Seems to be the only way. :confused3

Have a wonderful time today with Tammie!! How fun that you get to meet up !!

marv gets called a donkey sometimes, but in a totally different context.
Wow, you've really been bustin' my chops lately.........and right here while I'm trying to total the scores from the last contest......:rolleyes1
Oh, THANKS for encouraging him!!! :guilty:
We sure did!! At first Aunt Cherrie was rather confused, but after a couple bathrooms she thought it was funny and joined in!
:) :thumbsup2
Great pick up on that! There must be some word for that literary technique I used and didn't know it! :rotfl2:
Oblivious??? :confused3
There a about 34 zillion hotels on Katella. Who knows which one you were in! Did it have free parking? That separates them from ok, to great in my book!
I couldn't remember what the name was so I went back and tried to figure it out on Bing. Using oblique imagery (right Dan?) the hotel I stayed in is a Clarion Hotel, but I'm pretty sure that isn't what it was then. It is actually on Convention Way (one block over from Katella), a block from the Convention Center just down from the Hilton. At the time yes it had free parking, but that WAS 1995 or 1996, so it probably doesn't now......
You drove all they way to SD for dinner??!! WOW, that's dedication!
I told you it was my favorite Mexican restaurant!!! I took two of the other people in one of my sessions with me, and they agreed it was well worth the time and effort!!!

The VIllian!! oh thank you for not letting him getting under your skin - and for taking it for what its worth!! :lovestruc You are awesome Leisa!!

If I were totally honest, Sandy, I'd have to say, he really did start to get under my skin after a couple days at his house. I think I must have rolled my eyes at my mom at least 100 times. I am glad I don't live near him!

I'd rather the room just include whatever it needs to to be profitable. Hidden and tacked on extra charges irk me! Same with airline tickets, rental cars and anything else. Just give me th bottom line and I'll make my decsion on what I see. to me those hidden add ons seems sneaky and dishonest.

The hardest part of driving there was the WAY too short onramps and "weaves". Mark, you know what those are. There is far too little space to get over while going 80 and for the most part, folks weren't too willing to let you in or over when needed! It was really frightening!

Step-Uncle sounds really annoying!

He defitely was! Always has been, so we do our best to avoid him.

Donkey-man, he is the kinda guy that you wonder if your eyes will just get stuck in the back of your head from the constant rolling of them, AT Donkey-man.
sheesh, what are ya a bunch of teenagers? hmnmnmn well on second thought....:lmao:

KIM:surfweb:

Yes! It was exactly like that! Much eye rolling ensued. ;) Yes, I am young at heart, but not completely irresponsible.

IN hindsight, Kim, I think we definitely took the long way around. but commando wasn't our style that day, so it was ok.

Yes! It was exactly like that!! It was like he thought we are innately stupid or something. :headache:

After thinking about it, I am now certain, we took the long way around- ow

Oh a Salemite! I thought it said Semmonite or something :rotfl2: I see that isn't even a word, but I pictured the Isreali's in top hats and curls - hmmm - Mennonites? :rotfl2:

Ha! That's funny, Tammie!! I wonder if Salemoid would be better? :rotfl2:

So true! She is well taken care of, and I know he loves her. So my heart is warmed that she is not one of the neglected.

I know he loves her, so I can't be too hard on him. He just grates and pokes at every opportunity he gets.

OOOOO So Pretty!!!:love::thumbsup2

Can't wait to hear more about DL and your lovely Mother and Aunt!!

It was idyllic! Seeing the plants around the grounds made me so homesick for Cali!!

OK, so I find this fun looking TR and start reading only to find I'm over 1100 pages late to the game. Hi, I'm Laurie from the Seattle area and also mom to five. Looking forward to joining your adventure!

WOW!! HUGE :welcome: Pimama!!! Glad you have found us!! This is actually a dual TR and you only just stumbled into the first couple of chapters of my last trip. The bigger one, that has already taken up a thread and a half is of the ladies' trip. I hope that doesn't confuse you!! PLEASE let me know if you need me to help you understand- don't want to lose you for that!

Hopefully, the links in the TOC will help you get though it quickly :) And remember, it's way more fun to join in our happy banter!

enjoyed the update, thanks....and cant wait to see more pics of disneyland.

thats because you were going 80 you couldnt see them flipping you off.

marv gets called a donkey sometimes, but in a totally different context.

LOTS more pix to come!

Hmmm.. you may have a point there. :lmao:

Really? Our sweet Marv? ;)

Yeah, not a bad walk by yourself but awfully long with a chair. I remember rolling the stroller to the parking lot tram to get their faster but I don't think that lots there anymore.

UGH on Donkey man.

And double UGH on extra parking charges, those and resort taxes really annoy me!

So, why don't you just drink it before it gets warm?? :confused3
that is a good point, but you hav eto breath sometimes, and here in hte summer it heats up quick.

Yes, all the winners got one, Dan. I have to re-do the one for Rosie, though, I messed up on the lettering. I still owe you something for Round One right?? Eek, I'[ve lost track now!
yep i got a mickey head key chain from you...i was assuming that was from round one, but if you want to send me more i wont stop you.

just kidding, i like my prize.
;)

Wow, you've really been bustin' my chops lately.........and right here while I'm trying to total the scores from the last contest......:rolleyes1
and honestly i feel bad about it, but i figure since i havent been teasing you for that long, i am just making up for lost time.
:thumbsup2
I couldn't remember what the name was so I went back and tried to figure it out on Bing. Using oblique imagery (right Dan?) the hotel I stayed in is a Clarion Hotel, but I'm pretty sure that isn't what it
very good use of the word...and kudos on the proper use of the word in context, as well as using the software for what it is intended.

now lets see if anyone else can tell what obliguie imagery is without looking it up.

Really? Our sweet Marv? ;)
yes marv is sweet, and we should make fun of him, lets go back to picking on glenn and rosie.
:teacher:

Liesa, I got my second prize today!! Thank you so much! :goodvibes

I did not have to pay any custom on it - gifts are exempt from it (well, up to a certain amount).

Liesa, I got my second prize today!! Thank you so much! :goodvibes

Oh sure! Rub it in to those of us that didn't get any! :goodvibes

Just kidding!

Sandra and I met today, along with her mom Teresa and her little ones, Sarah and James! We had a wonderful time, and as usual, it seems like we've always known each other! I think we entertained her mom with our "Disney attitudes and habits!" :rotfl2: We'll have a picture soon!

Donkey man obviously has some insecurities and "issues" or he wouldn't be so caustic. It's his problem - not yours, so I hope you didn't let him get under your skin too much.

Ahhhhh - Disneyland. Enjoying your miniTR already because I know nothing about Disneyland other than what I read in Cynthia's TR last year.

Bring it on!
