ABCs of Trip Reporting, Pt. 2-Life Can Be Crappy and Then You Move On (3/7)

:rotfl2: And, Liesa, that purple shirt you're wearing in the lunch shots is gorgeous, by the way. :goodvibes

Believe it or not, I got it at the Goodwill. With high tech comes many from India- and their great clothes... I snatch them up whenever I can!

Oh Come on, it is not that bad. You are working hard on keeping that lid on and staring

With a wide eyed, deer-in-the-headlights sort of look. :lmao:

I will :) not tonight though, off to a baseball game but will tomorrow :)

But...I do need an "update" from you via PM about the subject matter above. ahem.

Ok, will do!

Wow so much to comment on. That field of tulips is amazingly beautiful. Both with blue and without. :rotfl:

Camille did a great job documenting all of that!! I provided the ride. :goodvibes

The Disney dinner looks like it was a lot of fun. I bet that guy you called in the UK will always remember that phone call. :lmao:

He probably wandered off scratching his head! :lmao:

I love the pictures of MSEP going right in front of the Castle. That spot around the bend and in the corner must have been awesome.

It was a unique vantage point... one I'd certainly look for again!

:rotfl2: They always have those commercials - "we can help you get your medical marijuana card, too!:thumbsup2"

This was funny - It did seem like alot of vodka when you start pouring it in the can! Liesa was all, "the whole can? Really? That much? Cynthia: "That's the recipe!" :rotfl2:

Well, who am I to argue??!! :confused3:lmao:

I brought Liesa a cup and saucer for the collection she wants to start.

IMGP2551.jpg

I have it sitting on my little kitchen sink shelf, and see it each day.:goodvibes

Meet the Burens: (well, 4/7ths of them)
IMGP2549.jpg

Hey, that's not a bad shot- I"m saving that one.

The Cup and a cup drinks were the bomb!:thumbsup2 I was wishing I could tolerate more, just to enjoy the taste, but I wanted to maintain some decorum as a house guest....:rolleyes1

You mean there was some? :lmao::lmao::lmao:

Liesa: did he notice if there was any Earl Grey? The guy: "I suppose they do???" That's when she told him what we were up to and then handed the phone to Cynthia!

It was right about here, when the entire conversation went down the toilet.

it is so fun to know exactly where Liesa is when she's writing her daily life out in the DIS! It is so fun to know who all the kids are now, too!

Right at the same kitchen table where all the fun was had.

I think you look cute! This is one of my favs! You were so amazed that this recipe was actually working!:rotfl2:

You are too kind. :rotfl2:

Holy cannoli, it's a flurry of updates!:thumbsup2

Great fireworks pics Liesa! Ah, Wishes. I just love watching! I've also been known to get a tad weepy as well. Just a teensy bit!;) There's something very special about that show, particularly when the little girl starts singing "starlight, star bright, first star I see tonight". So glad you were able to see them. And that your pumpkin got you safely to your resort, er, I mean castle.:goodvibes

I do so love it too, but, I can honestly say, once is enough for me per trip, and I'd rather be riding rides with empty queues!

I am SO stealing your wishes idea. I love that! Writing them out would be so much fun to do! Thanks for the great idea.:thumbsup2

You're welcome!!! It was fun. There is actually MASSIVE and hilarious drama coming up later in the TR- about the time we move over to POR. You won't want to miss it, if you liked the whole mug thing. ;)

Yay for yet another Dismeet! Those tulips are lovely! So colorful and friendly looking. How long do they bloom for there?

The festival runs about 3 weeks. They peak mid-April, but due to our Global Warming (NOT!) they were about 3 weeks behind.

ETA: Ok, sorry Tammie, I saw your update after I posted! Great pictures! Liesa, you have such a cute family. Looks like a blast!

Thanks, I think the cute comes from being hobbit sized....

Wow....alot of updates since I was here last.

Don't even know where to start, so I will just say it looks like everyone, wherever they were - Disney or at Liesa's - had a wonderful time. Well, other than getting stuck in the train tracks, and having to go to bed without supper.

We sure did, Tanya!! How's that new kidney rig of yours holding out??

CONGRATULATIONS LIESA!!!! :woohoo: :woohoo:

You know you've made it here when you get SPAMed on your own TR!!!! :rolleyes1 :sad2: :rolleyes1 :sad2: popcorn::popcorn:: ;)

:rotfl2::rotfl2: :rotfl2::rotfl2:

yeah, what is WITH that?! Two of them, in fact! :confused3

Everyone has seen cute pics of us all, there had to be a bad one in the bunch of us also. I saw some not so flattering pics of myself too. What do you do? Besides, this wasn't that bad! Silly!

I didn't see any bad ones of you, but then again, I'm not really done getting them all onto my hard drive either :)

OMGosh! Tammie brought so much food!! It was amazing! She really out did herself here! I didn't do much either, just like Cynthia I traveled there so not easy to bring food, I did help with going in on the cost of the salad, but that's not much, and chopping a few things was about all I did too Cynthia, don't feel bad. At least we got to taste test and drink wine and take pics!

That salami she brought was outstanding, and WOW, that hummus was to die for!!

Yes! That little sucker was as sure as the day was long to show up every morning. The sunrises were beautiful, I'll share some pics here in a bit. I actually went down TWO sizes!! Yea me, go me! Thank you though, by the next time you see me, you won't even recognize me!!

I am so, so proud of you!!! YOU ROCK!!!

Don't speed it up! Gives me time to stay caught up. Plus, what will we all do when it's over? :sad1:

:rotfl2::lmao::rotfl:

Love the additional photos and info Camille and Tammie!

As for a Disney potluck I was host of, I would start with a beverage I think. Either a Lapu Lapu or Grey Goose slushie most likely. For dinner, my ideal choice would be the Le Cellier Filet and risotto.

Ok, just for you, I won't speed up!!

I am pondering what I would bring to the Disney Pot luck and have decided the Juice from Boma and the multigrain cranberry rolls from CP!!! Also It's not bleeding chowder from Raglan Road , dessert would be the Raspberry merangue from Raglan Road !!! Actually I think I could write a book on what I'd bring:rotfl2::rotfl2:

Ohana's wings and bread pudding is what I would bring. (wiping the drool off....:rotfl:)

You are defnintely invited to the potluck if you bring those!! I was not able to try the bread pudding.

Hey Liesa! Just wanted to drop in and say that I saw your new "do" on Facebook and you totally ROCK that colour :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

Thanks, Jen!!! It's growing on me (no pun intended) and I head it should calm down over the next week.

Mine's not from WDW, but DLR. I have a great recipe for a Mint Julep just like is served at the Mint Julep Bar in New Orleans Square at Disneyland. My husband and I make it whenever we need a Disneyland fix. :drinking1

This beauty, right here...mmmmm....
DisneylandMintJulep.jpg

You know, I worked right next door to the kiosk, and never ever tried one. I remedied that on this last trip- although I had the big girl version with bourbon at Mt. Vernon before I got to Disney and then again at the.... well... I'll wait to tell you where in Disney. I"ll bet the one at DLR is more like a slushie though, right? Mmmmmm... if I ever get back to DLR, I will def. get one!

Spam? on a TR? I missed it!!

OK - I'm bringing 2 things - first I will bring the original mainstreet bakery French Toast Loaf!

I've made it before, and its AWWWesome!!!
weddingbookpicRyan2011.jpg

(one does have to be careful the filling doesnt overflow and burn the bottom of the oven - causing the fire alarm to go off... :rolleyes1)

WOW! Does that ever look fanstastic!! YUM!!! I'll bet it doesn't smell any better burning on the bottom of one's oven than the sweet potato that's in mine right now. :scared1::sick:

Now for drinks -

I vote for a Rosa Regale Champagne - the one that tastes and smells like strawberries - but I cant find a picture...

I took one from the internet -
102675d.jpg

That one look really, really yummy!!

Here's a welsch dragon from Rose and Crown - easy to make!
IMG_0737.jpg

A while back, I did a review on the one I had on Day 2 of my trip, and it was awful. Not the flavors so much, but that lack of anything alcoholic whatsoever. Such a disappointment.

Now at France, we really enjoy this wine!
IMG_0107.jpg

Can I come?

VERY definitely you can COME!!!!:banana:

I promise I'll get done with responses sometime today- 3 hems pending. UGH!!

Ball is tonight, so lots of gussying up to do yet!!

Have fun at the Ball tonight.

And I would bring the Cheese Soup (LeCellier's receipe). :goodvibes

Believe it or not, I got it at the Goodwill. With high tech comes many from India- and their great clothes... I snatch them up whenever I can!
:thumbsup2 Hey, that makes it even better!

I promise I'll get done with responses sometime today- 3 hems pending. UGH!!

Ball is tonight, so lots of gussying up to do yet!!
:worship: I'm in awe of your sewing ability. I almost failed sewing when I had to take in middle school...the duck I was supposed to put together never quite looked the way it should have. :lmao: Consequently, I can't even sew a button.

Have fun at the Ball tonight.

And I would bring the Cheese Soup (LeCellier's receipe). :goodvibes

Yum...that soup is SO good.

And, yes, Liesa...have a wonderful, magical time tonight!

Have fun at the Ball tonight.

And I would bring the Cheese Soup (LeCellier's receipe). :goodvibes

Do have fun at the Ball!! :dancer:

and be careful with that soup btw! DD is thinking of going vegetarian (she doesnt like vegetables! :rotfl:) so she fell in love with this soup! :scared1: So rich - she begs me to make it every week - um not even once a month! That's some powerful soup!! (and shhhh, no one tell DD it has beer in it!! :rotfl:)

ETA - website - google is your friend, I know I had copied the recipe from somewhere - probably here on the Dis when the loaf was taken off the menu at Mainstreet Bakery, they got lots of requests...

anyway - here's a website where they add step by step PICTURES of the making of the Loaf!! Gotta luv that!
(and if you like that kind of reporting in baking, cooking - you must check out http://thepioneerwoman.com/cooking/ At the top of her page is a list of categories - check out the lava molten chocolate cake - easy peasy - dd loves the smash potatoes!)

French Toast Loaf
(must sit overnight in Fridge to absorb the liquid into the bread)

Stale Bread
(not slices of sandwich bread, something heartier - Think Texas Toast - the recipe says 12 slices, you want to fill your Loaf Pan)
8 ounces butter

1 cup Brown Sugar combine with
1 tsp cinnamon
and set aside...

Batter

10 ounces heavy whipping cream (not half and half - heavier cream!)
4 large eggs
1/2 tsp vanilla
1/4 tsp cinnamon
Mix and set aside...

Loaf Pan
Spray with Pam (line with parchment paper if you have it)
Bottom of pan lay 3 slices of the Texas Toast Stale Bread
Add 1/3 of the Brown Sugar/Cinnamon Mixture
Add 1/3 of that butter
Repeat this bread, sugar, butter layer 2 more times
Top with the remaining bread
Must PRESS DOWN hard to smoosh that bread to make it fit!

Now you have app 16 ounces of liquid that will make a custard type mixture, so you slowly pour it in the pan, stop, wait for absorption to occur. You'll need to take your time, and make sure to incorporate all the liquid!

you'll want to add some parchment paper to the top (NOT waxed paper, that would be bad!) Wrap with aluminum foil - place in Fridge overnight. Leave foil on to bake

The Next Day - Bake

(Place the loaf pan on a cookie sheet that you have lined with aluminum foil - just in case of spillage!)
Bake at 325 degrees for about 1 hour (160 degrees - the custard part) Then uncover the loaf and bake for app 15 more minutes

Let rest 5 min - (if you let it sit too long in the pan, it will stick, if you dont let the loaf rest - it will fall apart and be gloopy!)
Now, take a nice plate and flip out the loaf!!

Prepare to exercise at least an hour after eating a slice!!

Have fun at the Ball and lots of PIX too !!!

Good luck! Have a ball at the Ball!:goodvibes

I'd like to bring Mickey Bars and hot fudge sundaes from Sci-Fi! And maybe a couple of Mickey waffles for good measure. Or some of that cinnamon rice and curried chicken from Tusker House.

Pix are up of the ball tonight- go to ECD Oregon on FB to see them!!

Man, how did I get 2 updates behind again?! :scared1:

The Epic DISmeet looks like it was a blast for all involved. I have to admit I got a little confused as to the timeline with all of the flash-forwards and flash-backs, but as long as everyone had fun it's ok. LOST confused me at times too. :rotfl2:

Great job with viewing Wishes, and making sure you got your Dole Whip! :drinking1 I really like the idea of your personal Wishes, too. :goodvibes

As promised, here are some pictures of the latest ball...

The first several are just portraits of us while setting out, then socializing before the dancing began:

Soon the English Country Dancing began- each one with a courtsey and bow, of course. Some of these dances date back to well before hte 17th century.

After the "official" dance ended, some lovely waltzing music was put on, and then a bit of livlier swing. Andrew and Rebekah, having both taken a bit of ballroom looked fabulous out there; I wish I had some video of their sweet moves!

I have to say, however, the afterparty at Sheri's was EPIC! When we arrived the tables were already full of those who didn't stay behind to help clean up :sad2:, so our group of 7 (my kids, myself and a few friends sat in our own booth. As you well know, teens in general lack refined decorum (do remember I was sitting with them...) and started to goof off. One of my daughter's friends, whom I think she may actually have budding romance with, wanted to rib his friend at the next table, so loaded up a paper wad into a straw- not a spit ball, mind you, but it had dropped into his water glass, and he loaded it anyway. Just as he aimed it over to the adjacent table at his friend, the friend mouths "DON'T YOUUU D..."

He never got further than that. David let it rip, and unbelievably went straight into HIS MOUTH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :scared1::scared1::scared1:
We were dumbfounded, and all of us, including myself, laughed hysterically until our sides ached. It was truly a one in a million shot, and the look on his friend's face was priceless. He sort of looked shocked and slightly gagged, as he said, "Dude, you are dead meat!" I still crack up every time I think about it; it was so funny!!

Anyway, we had a great time, and are excited for the next one: The Sci-Fi Ball!

Now, I'm getting "J" ready even as we speak... So be ready!

Great pictures, Leisa. The gowns turned out beautiful and you all looked terrific.

That is too funny about the "non-spit" ball. :lmao::lmao::lmao:
