ABCs of Trip Reporting, Pt. 2-Life Can Be Crappy and Then You Move On (3/7)

Hey All,

Such fun and lively banter! And I see that I"ve come home tonight to a LOT to catch up on; alas, our family is going hiking to some waterfalls tomorrow, then finishing up ball gowns, then of course, the Ball Saturday... etc..... obviously a busy few days encroaching.

I hope to reply AND get J up soon, but could be a bit.

Meantime, to keep us "on topic", if you were to host of go to a Disney "potluck", what would YOU bring?? Could be from anywhere on prop...

Actually, it was the UK Pav. because I remember some meaningless banter with the phone-picker-upper about going to the tea Shop and checking to see if they had Earl Grey. Remember that? Too funny!!

:lmao:

Yes, it was the UK.

OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If I had hit a Mack truck headon, I don't think I could have looked WORSE!!!!!! Please look away, don't have nightmares from this, and hide your childrens' eyes!

And seriously, we hadn't even taken one sip yet! :lmao:

Everyone has seen cute pics of us all, there had to be a bad one in the bunch of us also. I saw some not so flattering pics of myself too. What do you do? Besides, this wasn't that bad! Silly!

Thanks for the report Post-Host Cynthia. You ladies look like you had a blast, and some good food and drinks to boot!

And FYI: Ya always use the whole can!!! I think the lesson we've learn here is more can = more fun. Am I right?

They sure were tasty!! I only had a couple of sips though. I was trying to be good with what I was eating, I figured I had pushed it that day with the sharing of the corn dog and lemonade. :guilty: I'm happy to report I didn't gain an ounce the whole trip!

Oh, what a wonderful report, Post Host Cynthia!! LOVE all the pics - you all look so happy!! Well except for the intense moment between Liesa and the blender.

Cynthia did do a great job, didn't she?!? :thumbsup2

Looks like you ladies had such a great time. I wish I would have been able to join you since I am also a local gal!!! But sadly was not able to make it. Love the blended drink pics!! It sounds so good and may have to attempt to make it one day!

Oooh, wished we had known. :guilty: Sorry, maybe the next meet!

We've had so many we lost count 20 years ago. On number one. I used cloth for the first 3, and they are just not quite as protective as the alternative. And I had horrible luck with the quick-reach-in-and-check method. YOu know that one....

Amen! NO blow outs allowed at Disney!

Please, do at least try one! They are so refreshing during a hot afternoon- and don't make a bad dinner either.

If you read these all together it sounds really funny!! :rotfl2:

Dinner was perfect! Tammie did almost all the work; compared to a salad, she had the hard part! THANKS, Tammie!!!:worship:

OMGosh! Tammie brought so much food!! It was amazing! She really out did herself here! I didn't do much either, just like Cynthia I traveled there so not easy to bring food, I did help with going in on the cost of the salad, but that's not much, and chopping a few things was about all I did too Cynthia, don't feel bad. At least we got to taste test and drink wine and take pics!

Yay You did IT!!!!!

:rotfl2: because of the bird. At least you got a sunrise out of it.
Congrats on going down a size!!! :dance3:

Yes! That little sucker was as sure as the day was long to show up every morning. The sunrises were beautiful, I'll share some pics here in a bit. I actually went down TWO sizes!! Yea me, go me! Thank you though, by the next time you see me, you won't even recognize me!!

First GREAT update Post Host Cynthia , loved all the supper and Can Can Can pix !!!!
Secondly Camille Congrats on posting pix I only recently learned myself and am still mighty proud !!!

Thank you Rosie, it's actually downloading the pics from the camera to the computer that's giving me fits! I still don't know how in the world I did it, but I did!!

Holy cannoli, it's a flurry of updates!

Yay for yet another Dismeet! Those tulips are lovely! So colorful and friendly looking. How long do they bloom for there?

Tulips usually last a couple of days, maybe a week at most.

Now, I have a drink-related question here. Can and a can and a can? I get the can of lemonade, can of vodka and what else? What am I missing here.

Half and half. Now you can see the other reason why I didn't have much of it. :scared:

Camille, your pictures are gorgeous! The tulips are so vibrant. But I can't see the bird in the tree picture though. I squinted and still couldn't make it out.

Ladies, its' obvious a good time was had by all. Thanks for sharing!

ETA: Ok, sorry Tammie, I saw your update after I posted! Great pictures! Liesa, you have such a cute family. Looks like a blast!

Thank you for the nice words about the pics. It was truly beautiful, you can see in the bad pictures from the phone how the storm was trying to come in on the right side of the picture, it's darker on that side. I actually have video of the bird, I'll try and see if I can get it to post. :goodvibes

CONGRATULATIONS LIESA!!!!

You know you've made it here when you get SPAMed on your own TR!!!! :rolleyes1 :rotfl2:

I know, right?!?

I know! HOly cow, it's long. I could speed it up, but why?? :confused3 Too many stories and pictures to share!

Don't speed it up! Gives me time to stay caught up. Plus, what will we all do when it's over? :sad1:

You know you've made it here when you get SPAMed on your own TR!!!! :rolleyes1 :sad2: :rolleyes1 :sad2: popcorn::popcorn:: ;)

:rotfl2::lmao::rotfl:

Love the additional photos and info Camille and Tammie!

As for a Disney potluck I was host of, I would start with a beverage I think. Either a Lapu Lapu or Grey Goose slushie most likely. For dinner, my ideal choice would be the Le Cellier Filet and risotto.

Ohana's wings and bread pudding is what I would bring. (wiping the drool off....:rotfl:)

Hey Liesa! Just wanted to drop in and say that I saw your new "do" on Facebook and you totally ROCK that colour :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

/
Can someone PLEASE tell me why I keep getting BIZARRE posts on our thread??? Is that 2 SPAMS in one day here? OhMari, did you edit one of them?? I am so very confuzzled!!!

WHAT IS GOING ON??

Meantime, to keep us "on topic", if you were to host of go to a Disney "potluck", what would YOU bring?? Could be from anywhere on prop...

Mine's not from WDW, but DLR. I have a great recipe for a Mint Julep just like is served at the Mint Julep Bar in New Orleans Square at Disneyland. My husband and I make it whenever we need a Disneyland fix. :drinking1

This beauty, right here...mmmmm....
DisneylandMintJulep.jpg

Spam? on a TR? I missed it!!

OK - I'm bringing 2 things - first I will bring the original mainstreet bakery French Toast Loaf!

I've made it before, and its AWWWesome!!!
weddingbookpicRyan2011.jpg

(one does have to be careful the filling doesnt overflow and burn the bottom of the oven - causing the fire alarm to go off... :rolleyes1)

Now for drinks -

I vote for a Rosa Regale Champagne - the one that tastes and smells like strawberries - but I cant find a picture...

I took one from the internet -

Here's a welsch dragon from Rose and Crown - easy to make!

Now at France, we really enjoy this wine!

Can I come?

Does it have to be something we have a good chance of actually making? If so, I'll have to bring Micky rice krispy treats. If not, I'll bring an assortment of sushi from the California Grill.:rotfl:

Does it have to be something we have a good chance of actually making? If so, I'll have to bring Micky rice krispy treats. If not, I'll bring an assortment of sushi from the California Grill.:rotfl:

I like your thinking on this one! :thumbsup2 I'd bring a flatbread from Cali Grill, in that case. I had one there a year and a half ago and I'm still thinking about it! :rotfl:

What a great time at the DIS meet. Looks like you all had a great time....especially making that lemonade concoction. Love the pic of Liesa at the end of it all though. Such a peaceful moment after the crazyness of making it. That painting is lovely.

You have no idea how yummy those tasted!! WOW! And they are only just a little bit fattening. At least I liked pretending they weren't so! :lmao:

Making them is quite an ordeal, but OH SO WORTH IT!! Mmmm!

I believe it was actually Mike's Grandmother who painted it. It's been around for as long as I have-so that's at least 23 years.

And FYI: Ya always use the whole can!!! I think the lesson we've learn here is more can = more fun. Am I right?

I really thought they'd be too strong, but they weren't. The ice really cuts them well, and they are so refreshing. I can see a few more in my summer future. ;)

Liesa - your firework pictures look great - I tried them, not great - I ended up using my movie setting on my camera - much better for me! :surfweb:

I never did finish the 2010 trip report - and of course its locked - so I very much prefer these lingering updates!

what happens when it ends here? :sad1:

Yeah, movies do work better, as least on my camera better than the stills, but none are really great. STill hope to get me a DSLR before my next trip!

I didn't think you did, although I checked quite often for updates until it ended up closed. There were many times I asked maroo to call you and find out what happened, but she never connected with you. Glad you're back!!

Someday, I'll get to start another PTR, until then this thread will have to "linger". :lmao:

Oh, what a wonderful report, Post Host Cynthia!! LOVE all the pics - you all look so happy!! Well except for the intense moment between Liesa and the blender.;)

Thank you so much for all the fabulous pics - my favorite would be the rainbow pics - rainbows hold a special place in my heart, so a hug and special thanks for sharing those with us.:goodvibes

Liesa made war with the blender- and we ALL WON!! I actually had to really laugh at the photo of me... reminded me of Glenn and his Quasimoto one from SE. :rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

Christine, you always make me smile with the joy you find in such simple things around you. Just today, I was thinking about how lovely the birds are singing around my house, and was reminded also of the power of Creation when a red-tailed hawk swooped down and caught a snake. It fills my heart see others finding peace with solitude and quiet. Thanks for the reminder!

I DID IT!!!
I actually figured out how to upload the pictures from my camera!!! I have no earthly clue how in the world I did it, but I DID IT!!

Not the greatest picture, but a picture of the little guy who woke me up....daily....at 6:30.....in....the.....morning. It was all good, I got lots of beautiful pictures of the sunrise, what little sun we saw when I was there. :goodvibes

How about less blue in the tulip fields.....
I loooooove this picture, it has the fields and two of my favorite people in the world. :lovestruc

I HAVE to get to my exercise or I'll never get it done. The Lord is using my child to gently remind me of what I need to get done. I just emptied my closet of all the clothes I've shrunk down in size from and now I almost have nothing in my closet!! Pretty cool!!
I promise to come back and post more pics now that I figured out how in the world to get them to photobucket!! :cool1: I'm so happy I figured it out!!

Those were exactly the pix I knew you'd have!! THANKS for finding them, and most of all for figuring out how to post them!! WOOT!! Now you are ALL set to do a TR!!! :woohoo:

I have to ask you to be excited for me too re: my exercise today!! We went hiking, and I chose to do a 2 mile round trip run on a trail. It was full of hills, but I actually did it in less than 33 minutes- giving me 16+ min/ miles!!!! :woohoo::banana::woohoo::banana: I have NO idea why I'm so slow on the treadmill, but I was VERY excited to have done 2m in that short! I started out thinking I'd be happy with 35-36 minutes.

Unfortunately, I didn't think through my weekend, and will be lucky to be able to dance (or even walk for that matter) tom. at the ball. :scared1:

I'm over-the-moon excited for you about your size change!! That is so great, and you must really be starting to feel and see the changes now!! WOOT!!! Why don't you do a photo journal for us? We'd love to see your transformation!

I think that was the LOOK you were giving as you were asking do we really need to use a whole can?

:rotfl:

I wouldn't want to cross you! Except obviously I did. :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

HAHA! Maybe it was? No idea.... I was thinking it was like the second time around and I looked completely mashed already. Which, after I thought about it, didn't make sense because you were doing up BATCH #2, and were afraid you were going to wake up Mike- which was pretty funny to me... as if our giggling wouldn't have! :lmao:

You didn't cross me, silly goose! I'm laughing at myself pretty hard... Glenn needs to bring out the Quasi Smilie just for me this time!!

Looks like you ladies had such a great time. I wish I would have been able to join you since I am also a local gal!!! But sadly was not able to make it. Love the blended drink pics!! It sounds so good and may have to attempt to make it one day!

We DO TOO!!! Next time, and there WILL BE A NEXT TIME!! We could even start planning now... :confused3

Ummmm.. we could have PNW Take Two anytime!

Great update and photos post host Cynthia! Looks like a grand time was had by all! Love the Disney themed dinner! :thumbsup2

It was a grand time! It was so lovely after what had been a very very long day.

I love the Wishes! Such a fun idea. :thumbsup2

Cynthia - wonderful update!! Such a great girls weekend. It cracked me up that you called Morocco! Hilarious! Did you tell him you ladies were a gathering of Disney friends?

Also, I just noticed your little siggy picture for the East Meets West TR (which I am subscribed to, but sadly not current on!), "it's not magic!" :lmao:

Morrocco..England...somewhere

I may not have had enough coffee at that point.

:rotfl:

I had fun making the siggie pic :) Which is, of course, a modified version of the can a can a can drink we made at Liesa's!

Great update post host Cynthia! The meet looked to be as much fun as I knew it would be. I love all the pictures of laughter and good times in general.

Lots of laughter!

Great job on the Moroccan phone call! One try, and you got somebody. He had pretty much the same response as the guy who picked up the phone for me.

Going out on the boat looked like fun. I'll bet Eric had a great time with Liesa's guys.

Yes, you 3 were nicely coordinated for lunch. I'm impressed.

What was really lame is the guy was from the NW and I still had nothing interesting to say.

:rotfl:

I think Liesa lost him at "DIS'ers"

Eric had a great time on his adventure.

Actually, it was the UK Pav. because I remember some meaningless banter with the phone-picker-upper about going to the tea Shop and checking to see if they had Earl Grey. Remember that? Too funny!!

:lmao:

I totally forgot about that!

What a great time at the DIS meet. Looks like you all had a great time....especially making that lemonade concoction. Love the pic of Liesa at the end of it all though. Such a peaceful moment after the crazyness of making it. That painting is lovely.

It was fun, and they are yummy!

I love that picture too, I'd have taken it with me but they'd have noticed.

Wonderful pictures and update Post Host Cynthia. :goodvibes

thanks Kathy!

Thanks for the report Post-Host Cynthia. You ladies look like you had a blast, and some good food and drinks to boot!

And FYI: Ya always use the whole can!!! I think the lesson we've learn here is more can = more fun. Am I right?

You are right! I like your math

Waaaay behind so I just skimmed through and now I'm hungry. Lots of yummy looking food popping up on here...well except for the SPAM :rolleyes1:lmao:

:woohoo:
updates updates updates!! :cheer2:

Liesa - your firework pictures look great - I tried them, not great - I ended up using my movie setting on my camera - much better for me! :surfweb:

Cynthia! :goodvibes I've been gone far too long! I love how you all are wearing aubergine!

I never did finish the 2010 trip report - and of course its locked - so I very much prefer these lingering updates!

what happens when it ends here? :sad1:

See and we just called it purple :rotfl: You've been missed!

Oh, what a wonderful report, Post Host Cynthia!! LOVE all the pics - you all look so happy!! Well except for the intense moment between Liesa and the blender.;)

It was hysterical. Poor Mike trying to sleep.

Thank you so much for all the fabulous pics - my favorite would be the rainbow pics - rainbows hold a special place in my heart, so a hug and special thanks for sharing those with us.:goodvibes

They hold a special place in my heart too, it was the perfect start to the meet.

I DID IT!!!

PRETTY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I love it

Looks like you ladies had such a great time. I wish I would have been able to join you since I am also a local gal!!! But sadly was not able to make it. Love the blended drink pics!! It sounds so good and may have to attempt to make it one day!

It's a great summer drink for sure, and easily modified!

I think I might with you on this one, Rosie!
:thumbsup2

Great update from Posthost Cynthia! I love hearing all about your girls' weekend. And Oregon really does look so beautiful.

:rotfl2: And, Liesa, that purple shirt you're wearing in the lunch shots is gorgeous, by the way. :goodvibes

Thanks Tina!

Oregon is beautiful and her shirt was gorgeous. Great color on her too!

Oh Come on, it is not that bad. You are working hard on keeping that lid on and staring down the mix to keep from overflowing. ;)

Focus, she had focus!

First GREAT update Post Host Cynthia , loved all the supper and Can Can Can pix !!!!
Secondly Camille Congats on posting pix I only recently learned myself and am still mighty proud !!!

And look at you now Rosie!

The Disney dinner looks like it was a lot of fun. I bet that guy you called in the UK will always remember that phone call. :lmao:

I bet he will, perhaps in a crazy lady way but I think he got a kick out of it

:rotfl2: They always have those commercials - "we can help you get your medical marijuana card, too!:thumbsup2"

:rotfl:

This was funny - It did seem like alot of vodka when you start pouring it in the can! Liesa was all, "the whole can? Really? That much? Cynthia: "That's the recipe!" :rotfl2:

You guys were a bunch of skeptics! :rotfl:

It was really a fun dinner, with really great company!

The Cup and a cup drinks were the bomb!:thumbsup2 I was wishing I could tolerate more, just to enjoy the taste, but I wanted to maintain some decorum as a house guest....:rolleyes1
I had no such reservations :rotfl:

We had a really delicious breakfast in the morning - Mike and Liesa made pancakes and eggs and sausage, strawberries - YUM! The phone call to Morocco was so fun! (I think it might have been England?) It was funny how we were so sure we wanted to do it, and then when it was time to dial, we started chickening out. I remember Liesa asking the guy if he would go in the tea shop and check something for her, and then he said he had just been in there - Liesa: did he notice if there was any Earl Grey? The guy: "I suppose they do???" That's when she told him what we were up to and then handed the phone to Cynthia!

And I choked!

I think you look cute! This is one of my favs! You were so amazed that this recipe was actually working!:rotfl2:

She was...that's the look, not a glare, pure shock it was working. :rotfl:

Cynthia, you are quite the fabulous post host!:goodvibes What a gorgeous rainbow. Nice food pics too! That Cobb Salad looked soooo good.

Now, I have a drink-related question here. Can and a can and a can? I get the can of lemonade, can of vodka and what else? What am I missing here.

The salad was SOOO good! I know I had seconds. I was super skeptical about the dressing recipe but it was so yummy!

The other can is cream

Wow....alot of updates since I was here last.

Don't even know where to start, so I will just say it looks like everyone, wherever they were - Disney or at Liesa's - had a wonderful time. Well, other than getting stuck in the train tracks, and having to go to bed without supper.

We had a blast!

CONGRATULATIONS LIESA!!!! :woohoo: :woohoo:

You know you've made it here when you get SPAMed on your own TR!!!! :rolleyes1 :sad2: :rolleyes1 :sad2: popcorn::popcorn:: ;)

:rotfl2::rotfl2: :rotfl2::rotfl2:

She is FAMOUS! Hey, if you are going to spam, do it on a busy thread!

Everyone has seen cute pics of us all, there had to be a bad one in the bunch of us also. I saw some not so flattering pics of myself too. What do you do? Besides, this wasn't that bad! Silly!

there's one in Tammie's batch I know I could live without. :rotfl:

They sure were tasty!! I only had a couple of sips though. I was trying to be good with what I was eating, I figured I had pushed it that day with the sharing of the corn dog and lemonade. :guilty: I'm happy to report I didn't gain an ounce the whole trip!

You were good avoiding the cream (though I think you might have helped Liesa finish her wine...a trade...:rotfl:)

I think that's exactly what Liesa said....Tammie brought so much I didn't need to get anything. And if memory serves, isn't there something Tammie brought that didn't even make it to the table?

YUMMY dinner!

As for a Disney potluck I was host of, I would start with a beverage I think. Either a Lapu Lapu or Grey Goose slushie most likely. For dinner, my ideal choice would be the Le Cellier Filet and risotto.

YUM! I'd be there.

Ohana's wings and bread pudding is what I would bring. (wiping the drool off....:rotfl:)

 I could eat that whole meal right now!

Hey Liesa! Just wanted to drop in and say that I saw your new "do" on Facebook and you totally ROCK that colour :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

ITA! :thumbsup2

DisneylandMintJulep.jpg

ooh, YUM!

Spam?

:rolleyes1)

Can I come?

Can I have that recipe?????

Does it have to be something we have a good chance of actually making? If so, I'll have to bring Micky rice krispy treats. If not, I'll bring an assortment of sushi from the California Grill.:rotfl:

Oooh, nice thinking!!! I'll bring Mickey Bars

I like your thinking on this one! :thumbsup2 I'd bring a flatbread from Cali Grill, in that case. I had one there a year and a half ago and I'm still thinking about it! :rotfl:

YUM!

You have no idea how yummy those tasted!! WOW! And they are only just a little bit fattening. At least I liked pretending they weren't so! :lmao:

I really thought they'd be too strong, but they weren't. The ice really cuts them well, and they are so refreshing. I can see a few more in my summer future. ;)

They are even smoother with 2 blenders and crushed ice to start.

And...a meet is considered a vacation I think and you no there are NO calories on vacation so...it was practically a diet drink!

Liesa made war with the blender- and we ALL WON!! I actually had to really laugh at the photo of me... reminded me of Glenn and his Quasimoto one from SE. :rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

You ARE the battle commander!
