ABCs of Trip Reporting, Pt. 2-Life Can Be Crappy and Then You Move On (3/7)

Dear All,

For 2 days I’ve been wanting to update you on several MAJOR developments on the homefront! It’s been an incredible 3 days with emotions running high….. and low…. And high again.

Let’s take a walk down 7’s Last Few Days:

On Tuesday, Mike got a call from the supervisor of the Oregon Forestry Dept. telling him he was being offered a job. For those of you who don’t know me (or us) very well, Mike has been looking for a job since we came back to the U.S. in Sept. What many of you probably don’t know (cue the Kleenex), is that TODAY, March 31 is the LAST day we were officially employed with our Missions agency. As of April 1st, we would have been unemployed. Are you grasping this? God, in His amazing wa-, in His mysterious, miraculous way- used this time of waiting to build our faith and trust in Him. How could we not be amazed at the plan He had to keep us waiting and trusting until THE VERY LAST DAY to give him a job that perfectly suits his skills and fits our family’s needs?

Well, yesterday, Mike was having second thoughts as the first offer was disappointingly low- in fact, not enough to support our needs. He called and expressed his reservations, and told the guy that he needed another day or so to think on things. Later in the day, the guy called back and told Mike that it was quite possible that he could convince his boss to put him up a couple of notches on the pay scale. That encouraged Mike enough to go through day with a new hope and a lighter spring to his step. Men! You have no idea how a bad mood affects the ENTIRE household! (Women, I’m sure our demeanor affects our households as well.) For 24 hours we wondered and waited. Mike practiced a day of Wood Cutting Therapy, and it worked wonders. Nothing like the tranquillizing drug of the chain saw!

Just this afternoon, Mr. Supervisor called Mike back saying that he was successful in convincing his bigger boss to pony up the extra $500 of pay; Not as good as what Mike had originally thought he’d be getting, but a ton better than the first offer. He accepted the offer as it now stands, and was duly congratulated. After 6 months of faithfully looking for employment, I can proudly say that God answered our, and MANY of your, prayers for providing a job. From the bottom of our hearts THANK YOU!!

With this news comes a flurry of other news on the homefront. Just a couple days ago, I found out that I was granted transfer credit for the pre-requisite for my Chemistry class- the Math that I had already registered for. That means I really don’t have to take the math class, but can jump right into Chem. HOWEVER, there are NO openings this term for the CHEM class I need! I have e-mailed the prof for a Saturday class that starts this week but I am 17th on the waitlist. Not a good chance of getting in, but I will be persistent. If I can get into a Chem class THIS term, it will literally cut off an ENTIRE YEAR of schooling for me. If not, I will simply try again in the summer in 10 weeks for the Chem. and take the slow(er) road to completion.

In other news: Some of you saw on FB that I had hurt my ankle pretty badly on Wednesday. I am perhaps the first person on the planet to hurt myself sitting down. Yes, you heard that right; I was sitting down and hurt my ankle. In my over-exuberance of cleaning for our big DISMeet starting today, I was cleaning my floor, doing it by sitting with my feet tucked under my legs. When I went to stand up, I couldn’t. I, at first, thought, oops my foot’s asleep. NOPE! When I tried to walk I had excruciating pain- almost like when I had broken it 3 years ago. I had an x-ray, and had scheduled to see the doc today at 2:00. Went to the airport to get the girls off (and pick up Camille) and by then was feeling pretty good. In fact, now I’m walking fine on it. Hmmmm….??? Here’s what I’m thinking… I really, really wanted the house to be clean. Not just clean but company clean, and fresh with flowers and clean towels and, and, and…. NOT GOING TO HAPPEN. Once more Someone saying, hey!! It’s the people, not the place! (Tammie, your room is still not ready.) Another lesson in humility goes down in the books.

Lastly, the DISMeet!!! Camille is here- we enjoyed an entire day together, and already there’s been more TR fodder than you could EVER imagine! We took a grand total of 1 picture, but have a couple of bust-a-gut stories for you! Tammie(MAGICFOR2) comes in tomorrow around 2:30 (I’m sure that since my ankle is almost perfectly fine now you’re room will be ready) and we’ll be waiting. Toni and Terri (oregonmommyof2 and oregondaddyof2) will join us for dinner, as will Cameo818 (Jen), for dinner and Cynthia is still a wild card waiting to see how things are going to shake down for her weekend.

So, there ya are. Lots going on… as always. I will be rather busy the next few days with friends and fun, and I’m sure ALL of you names, individually or collectively, will come up at some point in our gos…er, conversation. I will be able to check in here and there, and will try to respond as always. Until then, carry on!!!

I am so glad that things did work out with this job!! :cool1: When will he start?

I hope you will continue to have a brilliant time with all the other DISers!! Give them a hug from me, I would love to be there as well!! :goodvibes

However that ankle business does not sound good! I hope it will stay painfree and that this was just a freak occurrence.

:cool1::cool1::cool1::cool1:
Congratulations for the improved job offer!

I won't tell my DH of you ankle experience, we have to clean our flat tonight for visitors and the story would give him a reason to decline helpning me....

I have no doubt that this is the beginning of a beautiful friendship. ;) (Movie anyone?)

Casablanca! They don't write dialogue like that anymore.

Wow! I love stories like this. Always amazing to see faith rewarded.

Hey, you know the saying. If Mama ain't happy...

And yes, using a chain saw is a great way to vent.

:woohoo::woohoo::cool1::cool1::banana:

That's great! Congratulations!!

Some of you saw on FB that I had hurt my ankle pretty badly on Wednesday. I am perhaps the first person on the planet to hurt myself sitting down. Yes, you heard that right; I was sitting down and hurt my ankle.

You're sure it wasn't one of Magdalene's AKL tables that suddenly jumped out and attacked you?

God is good isn't he? When you least expect something wonderful happens! What a great blessing! Congrats to Mike.

Prayers for you getting the class you want. Then again maye not getting this class is God working in some mysterous way?

:rotfl::rotfl2::lmao: That's funny Katharina, I think DH would react the same way :rolleyes1

Well, this danger for ankles when housecleaning seems to exist only for ladies (Liesa's DH was not injured!), so you should use it a reason why he needs to do all the work and you have to just sit still!! :rotfl:

Just had a few minutes to drop by and try to get some updates. Of course, knowing how quickly your TR zips through pages due to its popularity, I immediately went back about 5 pages to scan through for an update on your ankle. I guess I should have just read the final page first since everything I was looking for was right there in one concise update! Any way, a final CONGRATS on the job I saw you post about on FB, then found here was touch and go for a while! God is indeed good at providing for his Faithful children! :thumbsup2

Glad to hear the good news on your ankle. I sent you a text message for an update but I guess you are (understandably) too busy with your DISmeet! Glad you are getting around fine on it now!!! :banana:

And in other news, I saw something about another contest. As busy as I am right now I'm not sure if that is good news or not. :confused3 But you know I will be around to compete whenever I can....... not that I'm the competitive type or anything! :rolleyes1 ;)

Great news Liesa! Congrats on the new and improved job offer....but more importantly, good job staying faithful.

I'm glad your ankle is better. I guess that's one good thing about not being on Facebook -- I didn't even know it was injured, so now I find out about the injury and the recovery all in one shot.

Have a great time DISmeeting, but get that POC fired up. We want pictures! If there are no pictures, it didn't happen. Right Cap'n?

Congratulations on all the good news! I don't know many more deserving. :goodvibes Hopefully everything works out with that Chem class so that you can cut off some time from your schooling. I can't wait for you to get into the actual Nursing program so we can compare experiences. I finish my first year in two weeks. :banana:

Right! Let's see how many of them are wearing the same stuff. I think the odds are good.
You guys obviously don't understand women very well. Us men don't care if we have on the same stuff. We just laugh about it! :goodvibes Well actually, I guess with the same limited selections for men no matter where you shop, the chances are really good to start with.

Women on the other hand would rather die first! :eek: If Liesa is the first one out in the morning whoever is next would peak out the door and see what she is wearing, and if by some strange chance it happened to be the same, they would quickly shut the door and change to something else! Then so on for each successive person...... :rolleyes1

Either that or by some strange quirk it couldn't be avoided......and that is why there is currently only one picture in existence!!! :rotfl:

Psst, Marv. I know that. There's not a snowball's chance in Hades that two of those ladies would be caught dead wearing the same outfit....unless they staged it.

Yeah I know. I figured that was a set-up for someone brave enough to say it out loud (well, put it in print anyway) without being concerned about the repurcussions!!! :goodvibes

::yes::

It also makes it hard to make fun of people for wearing the same shirt.

Right! Let's see how many of them are wearing the same stuff. I think the odds are good.

I just posted on my thread about that. We've thrown out a bunch...Judy got tired of them taking up cupboard space.

Alright boys! I'll have you know we girls are totally fine if we wear the same thing! :snooty: So there! We may even show pictures, if your good. :goodvibes By the way Marv, Liesa says she'd gladly clean sitting on the floor with a toothbrush if you'll unclog the toilet. :scared: And NO I didn't clog the toilet, I know where your mind is going. :rolleyes: :laughing:

Coming to Liesa's has been a blast so far, we've had some adventures already! Liesa's pulled some classic Liesa moments, can't wait to share those! :laughing:

I've been more than welcomed here and I think her husband Mike thinks I'm a real person now and not some strange, overly obsessed Disney freak. :rolleyes1 Sucker! :rotfl:
