Aaack!!! The cat saw me taking the suitcases out....Pic added :)

.....that you are all nuts! Go back and try to reread the posts as a non-cat person. :rotfl2: We have to hide the suitcases!

But count me in the same situation. I used to have a cat who really knew the suitcase. ( I used to travel quite a bit ). She would also climb into the suitcase and refuse to leave. Every trip album has a photo in the front of her on my clothes. She would lay down totally flat ( hard to explain to non-cat people ) without any space anywhere between her and the clothes. Then her ears would go flat and straight out sideways. I'd learned to walk away from that position.

My two cats now have no experience with a real suitcase, just an overnight bag. They sit and look concerned but get easily distracted. A real suitcase would scare the big one into hiding under the bed for hours! Anyone who comes in to feed them for me never sees him. The first time, it was my dad and he was sure he'd let Jake get out of the house and searched for hours. It's only a one bedroom apartment, but sometimes even I can't find him. And he's HUGE! :rolleyes2

I agree with mssocks that people who have not dealt with cats would think we're strange. However I'm sure most of our pets are well loved and cared for and miss us when we are gone. Mine will ignore me about the first hour I'm home and then follows me everywhere meowing her head off. In her case, it's probabley got something to do with being abandoned by her former owner. She knows I come back; but after two years she still does not like me to leave. She does not eat much and I suspects pouts while I'm gone.

My siamese will pee in the suitcases if I leave them out. She gets really mad we are leaving and will get revenge. If we come home, she has no interest in the suitcases...only if I'm trying to pack. :rolleyes2

is that why they do that?? Wow! My mom's cat did that! I thought it was because of the way suitcase smelled or something!

A friend of mine's cat "doesn't talk to her" (he ignores and hides from her for awhile) after going away.

I am leaving my girls for a week to go to CA. They are very clingy, they will miss me. I hope they are not mad when I come back!

Wow! I wish tuna would get Kitty out of my suitcase. She won't leave till she is good and ready!

Last Disney trip, when my cat saw the suitcases, she hid under the bed. Nothing would get her out...I had to physically move the bed to get her. Cause she knows suitcases = a trip for her in her kitty carrier to Grandma and Grandpa's, and she hates the carrier!

I think my cat has gotten used to it given that I am back and forth between school and home a lot but when I leave at the end of the summer, she gets real upset.

I tell my birdie where I'm going, or else he'll get that "where are you going & can I come too?" look. :p
