I'm sorry if this has been asked before but I was wondering if it is worth joining AAA just to get the discounted room? And also, can I be sure to get it?

How do you guys do it?

We have a trip booked for our family of 5 at POR for 8 days 10/6 - 10/14.

You bet! We're doing POFQ for 8 nights and saved close to $300 ($131 per night instead of $155 adds up quick!).

definatley worth it. Saved $169.00 on hotel alone!!

not as good on tickets. We were able to get a 10% room rate discount at AKL as an AAA member. But their quoted prices for the type of tickets we wanted were higher than what we can get if we go direct to Maple Leaf Tickets or Ticket Mania.

So, we booked the room with the AAA rate and will buy our tickets from one of the authorized dealers on our own.
