AAA rates s/o for 1 night/room only--worth calling for changes?

We booked a one night room only reservation at POP before our package begins, but the AAA rates were sold out for that day, so I paid rack rate. I'm wondering if it's worth calling back and/or asking at checkin if rooms at the AAA rate become available. It's at the end of free dining, so I know POP is pretty heavily booked up. We're talking <$20 here, so I don't want to put a lot of time into it, but do you think it might be worth checking back around the 45 day (package cancellations) or 5 day (room only cancellations) marks, or even asking at checkin? TIA!
