AAA Rates Not Available for June 2006?!?

Hello all!

Here's my problem: I booked a package through WDTC. We are staying at ASMo for 6 nights beginning June 25, 2006. When I called, the CM told me that I could not get AAA rates on a package, only on room-only reservations. I booked the package with WDTC.

After booking, I found the DISboards... now it seems that AAA discounts can be had on a package, but only when a AAA TA books the package.

I stopped by my local AAA office today with my confirmation from WDTC. The TA called to get information on the availability of AAA packages. The person on the other end told the TA that AAA rates were not available at that time.

Is this because the special rates are already gone, or is it too early to get them for June 2006? The TA seems to think the latter is the case, but I doubt it. Disney has already set its pricing, should AAA be able to do the same by now?

Hmm....I was able to book a package through AAA for May 2006 with no problem. Did you put a deposit down yet for your package through WDTC?

I did, but I can get the entire deposit back as long as I cancel before the 45 day point.

My AAA TA probably isn't aggressive enough to get the correct answer.

I'd try another agent. I'm pretty sure the discounts for 2006 are available. It could be that you got an agent that isn't familiar with or aggressive enough to get the correct information. Sometimes discounts do run out, but it's a little early to run out for June 06.

Thanks. That's what I was thinking too.

Perhaps I will give Michelle Shears a try. I have seen her recommended all over the boards.

Anyone have any experience dealing with Michelle? How much is the AAA package savings in general (%)?

That would pay for one round-trip ticket... maybe more depending on rates.

My current package is for six nights, two rooms at AS Movies, 3 adults, 2 kids, tix, dining plan...

WDTC price is $3506. If I can save $100 I would be happy.

I decided to call the 800 number for my regional AAA travel agency. I didn't know that I could do that, but the AAA web site listed the regional toll number (out of Pittsburgh) and an 800 number.

After about 10 minutes in the queue, I spoke to Andrea. She set me up with the exact same package as WDTC for $201 less. That will pay for one airline ticket and (possibly) part of another!

YAY!

I got discounted package price for August 2006 so I can't believe that August would be out but not June that doesn't make sense
