AAA parking?

Is it true you get better parking if you are a AAA member? Plus if you buy tickets through AAA is the parking included or extra? We are trying to decide if a membership is worth the cost.

The AAA parking lots are closer so you don't have to walk so far to the entrances. They don't cost anything, but sometimes you need to just request it. They don't always just hand it out when you make your purchase.. As far as joining, to me it's piece of mind, and the PH passes at a cheaper price is just a perk. When my son inadvertently locked the keys in the car this fall, it was nice to have them just a phone call away.

I was told by AAA that they only give these out when you buy tickets from them or a package from them. If you purchase the tickets from them you have to request it. The diamond lot parking is better. They always put you at the end of the lane so that you do not have to walk as far. Also the diamond lot parking at MK is in the handicap parking.

Just what you have to purchase from AAA to get parking in the Diamond parking area depends on your local AAA. Some people have been able to get them by asking when they purchased tickets from AAA; some people have been told they have to purchase an entire vacation package. AAA had an insert in the Sunday Minneapolis paper that indicated "black-out dates apply" to the parking passes (but didn't indicate what the black out dates were).
At any rate, you still have to pay to get into the lot. The AAA parking just gets you better parking once you are in. (Parking is free though if you are staying on site or if you have an AP).

PS. AAA is still worth it for the peace of mind knowing that you can call and get help when you need it. They also have discounts at other places like for oil changes.
