Quick question for you experts out there...

I have a friend who is sending me a AAA parking pass for Disney.

We are staying on property so parking is free.... right?

What is this pass for?

Should I pass it on to someone who is staying off property?

Any info is appreciated.

The parking pass allows you to get a premium parking space at the various parks. It is usually right by the handicap parking areas.

As a WDW resort guest you can park for free, but AAA parking passes do not give you free parking. They allow you access to the AAA diamond lot which is usually up front next to the handicap area. BTW those passes are supposed to be non-transferable. They may or may not have dates of use from the previous user (your friend) so you may not be able to use it.

Do you have to book through AAA to get a pass?

It depends on the AAA office. It can range from them giving you one just for asking to being required to book a full package through them. You would have to ask your local office for their policies.
