I just recently joined AAA. I remember seeing some info previously on special parking at the parks for AAA members. Can someone please fill me in on the details? Which parks have it? How do I get the special pass? Do I have to request it from AAA, or can I just show my member ID when I arrive at the park?

Thanks in advance...

You have to have a special pass, but I don't know how you get one. I would love to know.

You are supposed to book a vacation through AAA travel.

Some offfices have given the pass just by asking ,but from what I hear not many.

Yes you are supposed to book a Disney 'package' through AAA to get a Diamond Parking Pass, but I only bought tickets through our AAA and inquired for one and they gave it to me. It couldn't hurt to ask your local AAA office.

I will be receiving a diamond parking pass for the first time for my April trip. This is a stupid question, but how do I use it? Is there signage for the designated parking? It seems like I remember something and always wondered how those people got to park so close. What about the guys directing you to park. Do you drive past them, show them the card or what? Thanks for any advice!!!

There is special AAA diamond parking sections at the parks, you show parking pass to the parking guy. Remember this is not a guaranteed spot, it is first come first serve and they fill up quick when I have been there.

Right as you go into pay you will show it to the booth person and they will tell you follow this color line or that color line and then there will be a person to direct you which row to go in...that is if you get there in the morning, in the afternoon or evening they just say follow a colored line and it takes you to the parking lot. At least that is how I remembered it.

We are leaving on Saturday  and I just picked up my passes today. I didn't book anything through AAA, they just gave them to me. I purchased my park passes there as well. She gave me three :confused3 She said in case we lose one or something. But I have read that the lots fill up, and then I have heard that some have had no problem. Guess we'll see....

As long as you are on the subject of parking- I have a question. I was wondering if anyone had parked without the AAA park pass and then with it and noticed a difference. I have no clue how the parking lots are since I have never parked in the AAA lot. Would it be to my advantage to join AAA to get this pass? I know I can get other discounts from them and I will be renting a car and I understand that there are discounts in that area too. BUT------As far as the parking goes- Is it really that much closer?

I ordered tickets from my local AAA office and I received a parking pass with them...I didn't even ask for it.

If you order at least a 4 day pass, you should receive parking pass. I got one with a package and last year just called and receptionist saved it for me. The only thing I've found is you need to get to the parks early to really take advantage of it. Couple of days (during value season) we arrived early and were just guided with everyone else. The only place it really worked for us was at Epcot. The other parks we still had to use the tram.

Epcot: AAA parking is excellent. It is close to the entrance with the Handicap and RV parking.

MGM: Not close to the entrance, but close to the end of the row near the tram stops.

AK: Special parking with handicap. Not as good as EPCOT, but better (IMO) than standard parking. I did not have to use a tram to get to the entrance.

TTC: Never parked there.

Have not used one, but believe there are black out dates for using the pass.

My whole package is through AAA. Will they automatically send one to me, or do I have to ask for it?

I just went online to aaa.com and got me and my husband signed up for the basic membership for $45.00. Right now the 2nd person is free. I will be getting my parking pass befor emy trip. I asked online before I signed up about the pass and the person who responded said as long as I am an active member- I need only ask and my pass will be given! Woo-Hoo:cool1:

Thats a great deal. It was going to be 12 more to add me. I am still thinking I may do it though if I can. I would use it more than my DH ,but he wanted it in his name for some dumb reason.

We had the pass for our last trip and never used it.

We found the parking area required MORE walking than just parking in the regular lot and taking the trams.

Last year at the MK parking entrance, the agent tells you follow a certain color line, but we couldn't get all the way over to the right in time, so we had to go around and come back through the gate again! This year, we will try to go in the entrance gate at the far right. This way we won't have to cross over lanes of fast moving traffic.

Also, we noticed last August that the color line we were looking for was not as DARK as it could have been = very easy to miss the line!

SOMEONE WHO HAS PARKED IN THE AAA LOT IN 2007: Have they painted the line on the road darker YET?
