AAA Membership

I was wondering if a AAA membership is worth the money. What type of discounts are available through them for WDW resorts? TIA

I have a AAA membership not for WDW but for the car. THe membership I have AAA will toke the car for 100 miles up to 3 times a year. I have not had to use it on my new car, but I did on the old car. There tourbooks are pretty good too, and you get a discount on the tickets that AAA sales as well.

To my knowledge, the only way to get a WDW discount through AAA is to book a package.

As for the membership, I renew mine yearly. The auto benefits (free towing, discounts on service, etc.) are more than worth it. In addition, they provide discounts with lots of varying businesses (I got 30% off my eyeglasses at Lenscrafters for example) that more than make up for the cost.

You also get all sorts of free travel info (guide books, maps, TripTiks) & free travelers' checks.

I highly recommend it. Also, if you aren't currently a member, this year's Entertainment/Dine-a-Mate book has a coupon for new memberships.

If in doubt, stop into your local office & see what you get with your membership. I know that will convince you!

The resort discounts are about the same as with the Disney Club: 10% off value and 20% off moderate and deluxe during value season. You can usually purchase WDW tickets at your local AAA office. They may or may not be the same price as with DC. (The Chicago Motor Club's prices are higher than DC's.) There are also discounts on attraction tickets to many other parks, either at the gate or an even better discount when purchased from your home office. Lots of hotel chains have a AAA discount, and the Tourbooks and maps are VERY helpful when planning a trip. We end up using their road service almost once a year. I'm very glad we have AAA.

I just made some ressies for ASMo for 9 days 8 nights for value season-total cost $621.00--works out to $77.00 per night. Your local AAA may offer discounted ticket prices--we saved over $100 on 7 day PH plus tickets. Also we use them for Triptiks (driving maps) and airfare sometimes. They also can book package deals if that is what you are interested in. For my trip this fall I did call the CRO myself to make the ressies to get the lowest price--even lower than my local AAA office. Hope this helps--I think AAA is very useful!

AAA (and even Entertainment).
I really like my AAA. My membership is really for car service, but it really does provide a peace of mind while travleing even in town.
Their tour books are wonderful (and FREE).

When I joined the MKC (now DC--Disney Club) I got a 10% off for joining AAA, which I did--that was in 1994. I still get a 10% discount on my annual AAA fee!

We joined AAA for the first time last year. Our membership paid for itself several times over. We bought Universal tickets, got discounts at Six Flags, discounts at Joe's Crab Shack, discounts at Pizza Hut, not to mention that we used the "locksmith" provisions when our keys got locked in the car!

I don't think a year has gone by (since we rejoined in 1995) that we haven't used the emergency road service for tows to the repair shop, to repair a flat tire, or for one locksmith visit for the keys in the car. All of the travel discounts are just icing on the cake!

SueP - I used my MKC 10% discount on the AAA fee one year, but I didn't know they'd give it to you year after year. The discount on AAA membership is only for one person, so you'll pay the regular rate for any additional family members.

** Teenagers with driver's licenses need their own AAA membership. (I just got an additional card for my 16-year-old daughter.) It is the DRIVER that is covered, and not the VEHICLE.**

My husband travels for a living, so AAA is invaluable for us, but I didn't realize how much until we booked our trip through them last year...we saved a bundle, and I stll say that the AAA parking pass at Disney is worth its wieght in GOLD!!! Check into it, it's a wonderful thing!
