AAA membership

To any AAA members... can you give me any pros and cons to your membership? Also do they ever run any promotions for discounts on memberships?

You can get some discounts on hotels with AAA. I have found anything from 5-10%. Like anything else there are gimmicks to it - meaning you may very well get the same discounts with another membership card such as AARP. Main benefit is getting road service when you are away from home an don't know who to call. They sometimes run promotion on added members. You pay the full price for the manin member and then can add your kids for a reduced rate.

As far as WDW discounts, their about the same. I love the roadside service, trip planning services, great planning website, free travelers checks, and nationwide locations. I have a 24 hour emergency travel number for guick room reservations, plane tickets, cars rentals etc. I had my travelers checks stolen and gotten them replaced the same day. I have never seen a membership promotion, but Chicago AAA doesn't need to worry about members.

We joined because we were doing the drive down. We got our travelers checks for free, the maps and map books for the trip and the books for lodging. It was definately worth it and we will keep up our membership. The lodging books were great- we would estimate where would stop around mid-afternoon then I would look for a place with an indoor pool and call to reserve the room. The directions to the lodging were very helpful too, to get off the highway and know which direction to head!

On our last DW trip we got 5% off of our 5 day hopper passes bought at AAA office, 20% off our week stay at All Stars and 20% off HDDR. It was enough to pay for a year of membership.We drive and love the added secuitry of road side help.
