AAA Discount & Package through Disney

I haven't seen the exact answer to this question on the boards so here it goes. I know that when you book through Disney you can only get the AAA discount on the room part of your reservation only and cannot combine it with any other discounte, eg DDP. The part I am not understanding is if you book through Disney and ask for the AAA discount, will Disney create your reservation as room-only and then get you the tickets, or will they book it as a package? Or is the only way to book a package with the discount by going through a AAA TA?

I am wondering this because I'd like to book as a package. It's a wierd quirk of mine that I just want to have as simple as possible so there is less of a chance of something going wrong with it. TIA.

Yep, if you want a AAA discount on a package it must be booked through AAA directly. If you book through Disney, you can only get the AAA room discount. By the way, the discount on the package is only on the room portion so you save about the same amount of money. BUT you can not get the dining plan then. My family has gone through AAA because of the ease of the package, good deal and the dining plan. Hope this helps, Marriedmyprince

Yes, the only way to book a AAA package is through a AAA TA. We've gone through our local AAA TA the past 3 years and have been pleased every time.

Just to clarify a little bit, or maybe I'm just be a little be slow on this, if I get the AAA discount through Disney, will my reservation be a room-only or can it still be a package?

It would be room only, you can ONLY get the package by booking through AAA which I highly recommend We were thrilled with that this year and it saved us 400 total on our package stay.

Thanks so much for the help...I just can wait for the 2008 rates to officially go out so I can work through all of this and get some true quotes instead of just guessing like I am now.
