I have a room only reservation with AAA discount. I know that if I want to add the dining plan that I will have to book through AAA. But I know that I many not have all the money needed by the 45 day set and was thinking I could add on the dining plan after the 45 day mark, although what are my chances of being able to do this with AAA. Can AAA cancel my AAA room and then convert it into a plan?

THanks

You can add dining within the 45 day window but you also must add at least a 1 day park pass

You don't say whether you booked your room only ressie thru CRO or AAA. We had this same situation in October. We booked a room only ressie w/AAA discount thru CRO, with the idea that we could change it to a package later (like less than 45 before the trip, if we had the money). We couldn't. We could have added the dining and passes, but lost our AAA discount. Or, we would have had to cancel our existing ressie, and rebook a package (room, dining plan and at least 1 day park passes) thru AAA. By that time, all the standard view rooms were booked, so either way it would have cost us even more money. Just be aware that you can't change a room only booked thru CRO to a AAA package. HTH :)

I think the best you can do right now is to book a MYW package through AAA, but without dining. So just a room and ticket package. If it's early enough, they should still be able to get the AAA discount on the room portion. To make it a package, though, you'd need to include at least a one day ticket for all members of the group.

You could then add the dining on later without a problem, although I'm not sure of the exact timing.

We made a Room only resv w/ CRO using the AAA rate but later decided to get the full package with dining. When I contacted AAA on line, I got a return pc from a great AAA agent that said that they could convert my existing room reservation but I would need to send a letter to AAA for Disney authorizing her to do that. She did say it takes extra work but is doable.

But since there still were plenty of rooms available, she suggested just starting new & booking room & package thru her but warned not to cancel my room only untill she called with a confirmation number for the new room & pkg. This worked fine so we never needed to send the letter but wanted to let you know it's an option if your agent is willing to go the extra step. Let me know if you need info on my agent.
