Hi, I was wondering if you can still apply codes you get from Disney to your trip if you book through AAA. Does the TA have to apply the code or do I? I was told by a friend that I should book everyhting through Disney over the phone so that if I do get a code I can apply it myself. She wan't sure if AAA can apply codes. Does the balance have to be paid in full in order to appy a code or can it be applied at any time.
Thanks in advance for the much needed help!!!:thumbsup2

No AAA can do it. I beelive you forfeit any AAA discount if you use a disney code. But I would have your agent run it both ways and see which is cheaper.
You only need to put a deposit down, and the code wil lbe applied then and the room held. I think it's 45 days before the trip that it has to be paid in full.

Oh, so say I book a AAA package and get the normal AAA discount. I then get a code for my month, it can't be applied because I booked through AAA? I guess what everyone is saying is that it may be cheaper to book through Disney and take a chance for that code to come up. Although I did hear that you can book through Disney and get a AAA room rate maybe with a code too? Thanks for your patience I appreciate your help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You can still apply a code after you booked with AAA, but it will just drop the first discount form AAA and ad the code one if it is better. When do you plan on going? Yo ucan always book with AAA and then cancel with them and book with Disney or someone else if you find a better deal as well. I dealt with AAA on our last trip and was very pleased. No codes were available to me at the time and hte discount was great. I am looking at another trip now and will most likely book with them again, just becuase they did a great job last time.

We are planning Nov./Dec. 2008 split stay at Poly and CR. Want to get the best deal and use the value season AAA rates with package( not sure about dining yet). I heard AAA gives a 15% discount on deluxe resort in the value season so we are in on that !!! If you have any other savings advise please share. I love the boards, it's a great way to experience Disney!

Yes it can be applied as long as you otherwise qualify for it. You just call your AAA agent that booked your trip and have them call Disney and apply the code to your reservation, you will then get that rate instead of the AAA rate you cannot use both. I just weeks ago booked a package with AAA and that saved about $200 over the same thing if I just booked it straight with Disney, then about two weeks ago codes came out and I called and had AAA apply that code, it saved me an additional $400. But at that point if I had called disney and booked it direct, under that Fall special, [same code] it would have still cost the $600 less then the original Disney quote I had gotten.
Thing is by booking with AAA you also get AAA perks like the Diamond Parking pass and discount card etc. in addition to everything in the regular Disney package.

Yes, it is 15% during value season, I just booked UC for Jan 2-6 2008 and it brought the room down from $325 to $276.25. Not near as good as an AP discount but it's the only thing out there right now so I took it. I booked through Dreams Unlimited so if a better code comed out Sue Ellen will try to apply it for me.

Great!! THank you so much! So, it really is better purchasing a package through AAA rather than getting everything separately through AAA because all of the special discounts? I just have to keep an eye out for the codes and call my TA when they come out to appy.

So you booked with DU and they applied the AAA discount for you? I was told by my agent there that they could not apply AAA discounts and that it was Disney's rule...

Actually I'm so anal I booked it myself, but it's room only. We are still trying to decide on passes and DH really dislikes having everything on one card in case of loss. We did a package through Disney last time and he complained all the time about what if the room key was lost, we'd also lose our tickets. Not to mention with his work (ER physician) we always need that cancellation option in case his days off are cancelled. I sweated out the package literally until we left for fear that something would happen and we would be penalized by Disney.

So you applied the AAA yourself? I was wondering if I could call and apply it for next years trip.
I hear you about cancellation fear- we always go right after the kids start school, so I'm terrified that we'll have to postpone sometime due to illness.
I probably just jinxed myself!

I called Disney myself on the 800 #, 800-828-0228 and checked availability with AAA for my dates. The AAA website shows false availability, :( I had first tried to book WL for those dates, AAA showed standard available at $191 a night :goodvibes: . None of those rooms available at all, the first room category with AAA was courtyard with bunk beds for almost $300 a night  I decided to book standard at rack rate of $225 and deal. The family then started talking about how most of our dinners take place in the EPCOT area, so what about YC? I called Disney and they did have AAA available for both standard and water view. I simply applied my WL deposit and paid the difference. DU was not having any luck getting Disney to get back with them on availability so I simply booked myself, then faxed a letter turning the reservation over to Dreams. That way Sue Ellen will watch for a better code and have it applied if possible. We do this all the time. This way I get the satisfaction of booking what I want without bothering her, then I turn it over to her and she gets the commission and applies any future discounts. She almost always seems to save me money. :goodvibes:

I know what you mean about school. Our girls are in 5th and 7th this year and as much as I hate it we will not be making an October/fall trip as we have for the past three years. Older DD said that she doesn't feel comfortable missing the days, sob. My baby is growing up, waaaaaah! Last year though she also missed some days due to a school band trip and some due to illness. SHe is unlucky enough to catch anything her sister gets, although sis usually manages to be sick over vacation, holidays, etc. By the time Kelly gets it it's almost always during school, :(

The AAA website shows false availability,

rcraw45425, what website are you referring to? Everytime I've gone to the AAA Disney links, I've always gotten the request a quote page.

YOu have to maneuver a bit, go into the AAA main travel page, then to the right where it wants dates and location, click Orlando, then change your dates and info. After it comes up with everything available for your dates and party size, go down to the modify search at the bottom. Click it and it will let you pick your hotel preferences. If you scroll through you will see Disney World Resorts. Click that and it gives you the Disney hotels available and the AAA rates. You pick your hotel and it will show you the different room categories and prices. I then called Disney and got some one to tell me what was actually showing available for my dates and booked through them. I was asked for my AAA number and expy date though, so make sure you have that on hand. If you actually go through the AAA site they want you to fill out a page and they will contact you with a quote. This way is instant gratification :)

No problem, jnykly, were you able to find what I was talking about from my convoluted directions?

It gave me a rate of 82 for POP standard, but during value times isn't that the standard rate anyways?? ( I entered value dates) Thats not a discount.

It worked...Thanks again Robin!

jenseib....I thought the same thing about the rates not being discounted...so I played with the dates and found a discounted value rate. So, apparently, there aren't any discounts available for the time we will be there.

YEah, that's what happens, if no discount available the it gives you the regular rate. I think the discounted rate during value for the values is like $65 or something. Is there any way that you can chage the dates? Another option would be to book at rack and then hope for a a general code. That's sorta what I'm doing, booked at AAA and hoping that a better code comes out. It's killing me, In Feb of '05 we had the same room booked at YC with an AP discount of $197 a night. :sob:

Thanks Robin! I had no luck, unfortunately. Disney said that there are no AAA discounts on packages. Oh well! It's always worth a shot!

I've been working on getting my 5 yo to use anti-bac hand foam before snack and lunch at school. After that, I'll cross my fingers and hope for the best!
