~A XMAS STORY~decorations, crowds, pixies..AND A BLOODY NOSE~ACTUAL UPDATE 11/9 p190

Glad your arm is doing better!

OMG! I would definitely write a letter to your builder. That is scary! Thank God that is all your damage!

Hi Punkin413,

I loved :goodvibes your countdown calendar for Luke and just finished making one of my own with my 5 year old :artist: ......Just wondering what you stuck the Mickey Head paint swatches with to the poster? Did you use regular tape? I was thinking that might pull off some of the poster/stickers and I know my 5 year old (he's quite anal) would freak!

Thanks, :flower3:

Karen

OMG dawn you were so lucky you didn't do more damage, not that your arm fat didn't make me feel slightly woosy!!! Glad it's healing well and glad your house didn't burn down!!!

cool! i'm sure you'll be able to visit her before you know it. does she like it there?
So far so good, she's got snow which her boys think is cool :thumbsup2

A dirty water dog is the most delicious hot dog that the street vendors sell. My guess is the water they are cooked in is not the cleanest as the day goes on ;)

I have a gnarly 7 inch scar on my leg. :crazy2: It healed really well and did not get infected by some miracle. :thumbsup2 Just keep yours really clean.

Dirty water dogs. Just a hot dog, but......taste like no other!! Great!! Must have in NYC!!

About the water.....I'd be surprised if it's changed once a week, or once a month. LOL!!!!!!

Yuck! :crazy2:
Reminder to self, when in New York, go for the pizza, not the hot dog.

Dawn, you should have taken a picture for all of those who say they haven't seen fat globules hanging out of body parts. That would make your report very educational.

Think you're up for a do-over fall??? ;)

1. Congrats on getting to go to NYC!!!!!! What a fun weekend that will be.
2. Arm fat?:scared:
3. I hope you're all better soon...:flower3:

guess what!?!??!!! my DVDs came in the mail today! :cool1: that means you guys will be getting an update tonight! i've already recorded what i needed for the next chapter and i'm uploading it right now. so it will be up sometime later tonight. :thumbsup2

Anytime! I know I wrote you a book  I'm always psyched when people come here for the first time, it really is a fun experience! You're going to love Wicked, and I'm glad you got such good seats :cool1: Definitely go to Ellen's, it's such a fun place! Here's a video I found from the restaurant, we always have such a great time and the food's so good!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eDZHnd5TCgQ

If you have any questions, definitely be sure to ask. There are a bunch of NY Dis'ers on here who I'm sure have a lot of fun tips. Keep us updated! And I'm glad your arm's already getting better!

thanks for the video! i sent it to anna and my sister and my sister asked me if it would be weird if she got up to sing with them. :rotfl: she was just kidding.

Glad your arm is better Dawn! So awful about the wiring ! $80 is an awesome price!!

thanks! yeah, i'm still very bothered by that. thank goodness we caught it!

Ellen's Starlight Cafe was fun, cheaper than we expected based on location (prices were about fair) food was not the best, but definately fine! and the performances were so much fun. the waiters and waitresses break out into song. I will see if I can find a pic to include from when we were there...

cool! i've mentioned it to them and both anna and my sister are all for it!

Glad your arm is feeling better. I bet it will be sore tomorrow! Glad you didn't break anything!

thanks! the bone around that area is really sore but i'm feeling better. the cut itself looks WAY better.

Holy Crap Girl!!!! I can't believe that I missed your arm being hurt! I'm SO sorry. I hope that you heal quickly and without complications.

thanks! i'm feeling much better.

THAT arm situation is PRETTY NASTY Dawn!! I have had some nasty cuts/falls but NEVER have i seen ARM FAT come out of one of them...eeeeww! You poor thing! :(

On a lighter note..YAY for NYC!!! We were just there and had the BEST time! We are hoping to go back in the spring as well..lucky for us we have friends that live right on Wall street and they don't mind us crashing there :)

i know!!!! me neither. that's why it freaked me out so bad!

you're lucky you have friends in NYC who let you crash - that saves some big bucks!

A dirty water dog is the most delicious hot dog that the street vendors sell. My guess is the water they are cooked in is not the cleanest as the day goes on ;)

I have a gnarly 7 inch scar on my leg. :crazy2: It healed really well and did not get infected by some miracle. :thumbsup2 Just keep yours really clean.

gotcha. i will keep that in mind.

7 inches? that's crazy. at least you've got a good story to tell.

Oh no...that sucks about your arm. I'm glad you're all better. It's good that you found out about the wiring. Better this way than through a house fire. That would be bad! You'll have to do a Dismeet in NYC. So many of us live there!

thanks! about the wire - i know, right? that's so scary. i've thought about setting up a DIS meet but i just don't know because we're not gonna be there very long and i will be there with 2 non-DISers. that's not something they'd be interested in at all and i don't want to make them do anything they don't want to. we shall see.

Glad your arm is doing better!

OMG! I would definitely write a letter to your builder. That is scary! Thank God that is all your damage!

thanks! i'm going to write the builder for sure!

Karen

awwwww....so glad you did a countdown! i think it's so much fun for the kids. i just used regular scotch tape and was very, very careful when i'd pull off the mickey heads.

OMG dawn you were so lucky you didn't do more damage, not that your arm fat didn't make me feel slightly woosy!!! Glad it's healing well and glad your house didn't burn down!!!

So far so good, she's got snow which her boys think is cool :thumbsup2

thanks! i'm very lucky that i didn't break my arm. i can deal with arm fat protruding temporarily rather than a broken arm! :rotfl: glad your sister likes NYC! i'm sure they will get used to the snow there. it happens quite often in the winter!

Dirty water dogs. Just a hot dog, but......taste like no other!! Great!! Must have in NYC!!

About the water.....I'd be surprised if it's changed once a week, or once a month. LOL!!!!!!

ewwwwwwwww!!!!!! now i'm not sure if i could handle that or not!:scared:

Yuck! :crazy2:

Think you're up for a do-over fall??? ;)

that's what i'm thinking! i'm all for experiencing new york city the way it's supposed to be experienced but i dno't know about month-old water!

i was too busy screaming to think about taking a picture. ask ray - i was FREAKING out when i saw it. it would be very educational, though. and no way am i doing that over! after i finally calmed down i had to lay down on the couch because i thought i was gonna faint. i'm so awful about things like that!

1. Congrats on getting to go to NYC!!!!!! What a fun weekend that will be.
2. Arm fat?:scared:
3. I hope you're all better soon...:flower3:

1. thanks! i'm excited.
2. yep, arm fat. and what's strange is that i have relatively thin arms (at least compared to other parts of my body). i would hate to see that same cut on my thighs!!!!! :lmao: it was the oddest thing i've ever seen. the cut itself is maybe 1/2 inch long. it was just the way it cut it and that stuff just came squirting out. :scared:
3. thanks. :goodvibes i feel much better today. the cut is healing nicely. the bone around it is VERY sore and i have a big knot on part of it but that will go away soon, i'm sure.

I de-boned and skinned some chicken breast today................it reminded me of you and your arm fat.:rotfl2:

Dawn,
So sorry to hear about your arm. Glad you are feeling better. I am originally from NY (moved to FL 2 years ago:sad2: )and wish we could move back but my husband says no way. He loves Florida I am so jealous, I love New York it is the greatest place in the world nothing compares to it or the people. Have the time of your life.

Dawn, I'm so glad your arm is getting better. But it wasn't fat that was leaking from that slice. It was blood plasma. It's a clear liquid that is part of blood. That's all the technical I can get.

Looking forward to seeing your pictures and update.

um......at least you thought of me outside of the dis. i feel special....i think.

thanks! we will try to have fun....i don't think it will be hard! i'm really excited - this will be my first time there.

before i get started on the TR, i just wanted to comment on how proud i am to be alive on this historic day. no matter who you voted for, i hope that you were able to look at this day and be proud to be an american (if you are an american). :goodvibes even those of you who don't live in this country i'm sure can appreciate what a significant day it is.

okay....enough of that. on to the TR!

----------------------

when i got my DVDs today i realized that ray had shot some video when we came out of japan of the christmas tree and spaceship earth across the water. so i thought i would share that first.

now the last time i wrote, i believe we were coming out of canada and heading towards the christmas tree. as we walked up to the tree i started to realize how HUGE it was. it was beautiful! there was a full moon out that night and it was SO PRETTY above the tree!

23-2.jpg

24-2.jpg

25-2.jpg

there were ornaments from every country on the tree and the angel at the top was holding the world up in her arms. she was really pretty! here's a video ray took. it also includes some of the dancing lights.

26-2.jpg

i loved this angle!

27-1.jpg

28-2.jpg

ray really liked the pathway of lights that changed to the music. he stood there for awhile and taped them. more videos of the dancing lights! they start out slow but they get better.

in this one you can see the monorail go by.

the second half of this one is taken from the other side with his back to SE. it's really cool over there because there's sort of a wall in front of you.

29-1.jpg

i thought these were so pretty!

30-1.jpg

33-1.jpg

ray and i stopped here to take some photopass pics. i love the colors in the first one!

31-1.jpg

32-1.jpg

36-1.jpg

we then headed back over under the walkway to get some photopass pics there. there was a short line and ray entertained himself by wearing luke's 3-D glasses that turned all the lights into snow flakes!

35-1.jpg

i didn't really like these photopass pics as much as i thought i would, but they were okay.

37-1.jpg

then it was anna, chris and luke's turn. luke decided that he was gonna show off his mask in his picture. :rotfl2:

38-1.jpg

the first time i was going through our pictures online i saw these and showed them to ray and we were CRACKING UP! :lmao: that kid is crazy.

look at anna looking at him - she had just realized what he was doing.

39-1.jpg

oh, well!!!

40.jpg

continued in next post: http://www.disboards.com/showpost.php?p=29801879&postcount=554

then it was time for a group shot. we did this really quickly because luke was getting antsy, so it didn't turn out that great, but it's funny.

41.jpg

anna decided to try it out too. :rotfl:

42.jpg

we split up at that point. ray and i headed towards mexico and anna & company went and took photopass pics at the flower thingies.

43.jpg

i think anna and chris got some coffee somewhere and luke got a cookie. this turned out cute!

44.jpg

45.jpg

meanwhile ray and i were walking through mexico and we ran into the three kings. we stopped and watched a few minutes of the show, but they were near the end so we didn't see the whole thing.

46.jpg

47.jpg

we didn't go in here this time. just kept walking.

48.jpg

i have no idea what happened to norway. neither anna nor myself took any pictures there!

in china i saw where the monkey king usually performs. very cool! i wish i could've seen him.

49.jpg

i stopped and got a peach schnapps oolong tea in china - one of my favorites! it was so good! i forgot to take a picture though.

when anna & company made it to china (they were about 2 countries behind us, i think) luke saw the puppets and thought those were really cool!

50.jpg

51.jpg

china is pretty at night!

52.jpg

they had a little area set up between china and germany where you could take pictures with a nutcracker. ray and i didn't stop because when we went by there was a line. but anna & company stopped and she got some hilarious pictures!

53.jpg

54.jpg

55.jpg

when we got to germany i was really just amazed at how BEAUTIFUL it is at night! i don't think i've ever seen it all lit up - so pretty!

56.jpg

57.jpg

we made our way to italy, which is also just gorgeous at night.

59.jpg

60.jpg

61.jpg

i went into the candy store in italy and spent $18 on candy. we gave about half of it to ray's nephew for christmas. i also hit some lady in the head with my elbow. she was not respecting my space and after i paid, when i turned around she was standing right behind me and i just walked right into her. she was really short. obviously, since i'm only 5'3" and i hit her head with my elbow!

we briefly walked into america and looked around a bit.

63.jpg

the candlelight processional that we decided against. i want to do it one day but i knew luke probably wouldn't sit through it and this being our first day, i didn't want to spend a lot of time on one thing.....

62.jpg

after that ray and i headed back to a kiosk in germany where we had seen some pretty christmas ornaments and we ended up seeing anna there. after looking around there, we decided to go ahead and get a spot for illuminations. it was about 8:50 at this point and the show started at 9:30, but i thought it would be nice to just sit by the water for a little while. there was a roped off area between germany and italy for wheelchairs/scooters and i asked the CM there if we could sit just to the right of it and he said that was fine. anna and chris went on ahead to italy (which is when a couple of those pics above were taken) and america to look around.

ray and i sat there for awhile and talked and just people watched. entertaining ourselves....

64.jpg

continued in next post: http://www.disboards.com/showpost.php?p=29801905&postcount=555

it was starting to get really cold so we put our hoods up. we felt very gangster-ish so we thought we'd capture the moment. ray cracks me up in these pictures! :cool2: :rotfl:

65.jpg

66.jpg

ray had been talking about going to japan again to do some more shopping at that huge store so i told him to go ahead, that i didn't mind sitting there. i played with the settings on my camera to entertain myself and i found one that's really good for night pictures!

with my back to the water, looking left at germany....

67.jpg

and right at italy....

68.jpg

then i called erica since i had a few minutes to kill and figured she'd be at home on a thursday night! anna walked up as i was on the phone....

69.jpg

i think this one looks kinda cool!

70.jpg

chris and luke looked at the train for awhile. i say "train" because there was only one. i don't know why they didn't have them all running. :confused3

58.jpg

then anna went and got a pretzel from germany.....

71.jpg

i texted ray and told him i wanted one, too. it looked good! when he showed up a few minutes later he had gotten one, but it was from america. i told him i wanted a pretzel from GERMANY. he said they were no different but they were. i guess i'll live. :p

72.jpg

it was getting close to show time so everyone got settled in, sitting on the ground. i was getting ready to get a family picture for anna and ray decided that the ortega cheese label he had just peeled off should be in the picture too. :lmao:

73.jpg

take 2....

74.jpg

somebody's getting sleepy!

this one is cute, i think....

75.jpg

anna and i tried to get artsy with our pictures of the flames with luke standing near the railing. they didn't turn out great but kinda cool!

76.jpg

77.jpg

78.jpg

next up.....illuminations with an unexpected christmas surprise and the boardwalk at night! :thumbsup2

Wow! Great photos, Dawn. Loved the black and white photo. And yes, it is a great day for all Americans to remember.

Great update!!!

I love the pic of you and Ray in front of the ball with the poofy-wand-looking lights!!:rotfl2: Its really pretty!!
I hope your arm is better!

I thought of you today! A co-workerd grabbed a file off of my desk today and as they pulled it, the side hit my arm and I felt it scratch me! I freaked and blurted out, "You dumba#$, your gonna make my arm fat come out!!" ......they looked at me like I was stupid and had something growing out of my head...oh well!:thumbsup2 :rotfl2: And I was serious..that has really freaked me out my arm now!

Great update... would the unexpected surprise to the Illuminations have something to do with the finale? DH saw the Illuminations 4 times this past trip, because of the finale. This is his favorite firework show to begin with, but this was his ultimate favorite.
And BTW, we were at that CP that you have a picture of, on that Thursday. It was unbelieveble. That and the Osborne Lights at DHS were my favorite things to see.
Can't wait to hear more.

Hi Dawn, I'm late to the party - I've been so incredibly busy and tired - I get too sleepy to post.

I'm so sorry you hurt your arm - hope it is starting to feel better.

How exciting you're going to NY! You're gonna love Wicked! We saw it in Hollywood - even DH loved it, and he never likes plays!

Loved all the Night time shots - some beautiful camera work!:thumbsup2 Luke is such a ham!:rotfl2: I love his excitement about the Dinsosaur puppet.
