A Wigdout trip report, DISmeets, Flashing Jelly Rings and Manpris, Oh MY!

Oh my goodness!

There is nothing worse, in this world, than getting up from a plastic seat of some sort, leather or pleather, something that doesn't breathe and finding your shorts wet with sweat.

UGH!

Now we will be hanging to see what happens...stranded at the terminal!

Great BD shots, yum!

After some discussion, we decided that we would take a later flight to Atlanta, yes we knew that the would be no connecting flight for us there, but we would take our chances with accommodations in Atlanta, that much closer to home.

While we waited for our flight I couldn't help but notice this elderly woman parked in a wheelchair. I read my book and well, just watched for someone to come and be with her..
Nobody did. The gate area was packed like sardines. She was being ignored.
So I asked if I could do anything for her....
Maybe get her something to eat or drink, maybe take her to the ladies room.....
She said that she was fine so I told her that I would be happy to help her if she needed anything while we waited.
Another woman came and sat down next to her, they didn't know each other but it seemed as if she had a friend for awhile.

A few hours later our flight left and we arrived in Atlanta very weary.....

Now we needed to find somewhere to sleep. The airport was crowded and I feared that the nearby hotels/motels would be full.
At this point we weren't picky.
We called a number that we were given by Airtran and were connected to the Red Roof Inn.....

We just had to find the shuttle.
We walked and walked.....
There was no air in the airport.
Can you say sauna?

Yes, Baylor is pulling my carry-on.

062-4.jpg

We got on the most crowded shuttle ever, Baylor set on my lap and Marc stood.

This is what we arrived to.....

057-5.jpg

I slept in my clothes, my purple locker is where I keep all of my toiletries so I had nothing....
Marc went out the next morning and found toothbrushes and toothpaste in a vending machine.
I promise you the toothbrushes were made of cardboard.....

The bed was horrid, the room very small, and it even smelled musty. At this point Baylor said, "what is this, some hillbilly hotel"?

OK, we had just been at the Beach Club, who could blame him?

058-5.jpg

We quietly made our way to the elevator, we didn't want to wake the man sleeping in a chair in the hallway......

We decided to pass on the shuttle and catch a taxi to the airport, avoiding the continental breakfast offered by the Red Roof Hillbilly Inn.....

Baylor was excited for his first taxi cab ride.

We grabbed some breakfast at the airport, caught our flight and were home in a few hours....

I couldn't wait to take a nice bath and to stand those clothes in the corner!

Up next final comments and souvie pics!

Oh my! What a way to end your trip!!

I'm thinking about trying out the Brown Derby on our December trip, so I love seeing all these good reviews. I want to try that salad!

So sorry you had such a bad end to your trip. It's hard enough to leave the World but to add insult to injury.

Can't wait for your souvy pics.

Apparently you told a very effective story, because I'm feeling like I should go get in the shower now just reading about your plight!

That is definitely a crummy way to end the trip, but I'm sure it made you appreciate being home more than you might have otherwise. (You know that's always my take on bad times. ;))

Hillbilly hotel? That's funny. I don't guess Baylor would appreciate our fine accomodations around here then, even though we do have the finest quality of hay in our beds and the outhouses in the better hotels are 'single holers' and have latches. ;)

Glad you did make it home safe and sound! I did feel your sadness at leaving, along with the desire to capture all the Disney you could in your last few pictures. I'm glad you were able to get into Brown Derby one more time, too. :thumbsup2

I've very much enjoyed your trip report, and I look forward to joining you on the December trip, as well. We'll keep our fingers crossed for that 4th of July meet next summer!

HOLY SMOKES!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'd be screaming DO OVER RIGHT NOW!!! :rotfl:

ACK! DOUBLE :scared1: :scared1:

Yeah, I BET Those clothes could walk!!!

What an ordeal!!!! Well, at least you lived to tell! That happened to my parents last Christmas, out of Seattle, trying to come visit me :sad2: They spent the night at an airport hotel, but fortunately I was able to help get them on a flight b/c I called for them while they STOOD in a line that spanned across the terminal... YIKES! Well I am glad you got home. Did ya wave at CP?!!

OH, and I am all done now, WigD... :rolleyes1

that looks like someone barfed in rows on your plate!

Miserable... and hot... and sticky... and at that point you just want to get home. Reading things like that makes me say DRIVE next summer for us...

Where do you want to buy these points .....

Shedding a tear for your last day... Wondering what you mean about the outfit haunting you!

Denise
Let's just say it lingered a little too long.....
Hang onto your pants there! Getting ready to finish it up... had to go to Karate Belt Test session, and the fabric store for my halloween costumes!
Sounds like a busy day! So are you making the Halloween costumes?

NOOOOOOOOO, not likely a good time to bring this up :)
It wasn't, he quickly nixed the idea of a spring break trip. High airfares even in K.C.

two summer and a fall sound GREAT to me! :)
It's just really hard for me to wait so long between trips.....
Something you will find out after going to often....you begin to expect to go every few months. I know, it's a sickness...
.

Oh and yeah those last days are terrible! :guilty: AND I don't know WHAT to say about your outfit comment... Hmmmm:rolleyes:
Let's just say it was a bit "used" by the time we got home.

[quqote]I have not had a true "boo hoo" day yet... but only because I have had a trip already set in place! So..... I am dreading the end of the summer :sad2:

Can't wait to see the end of your TR!
[/quote]
I knew we were coming back but it was going to be a long 6 months before we would return.

Oh my goodness!

We made the best of a "stinky" situation. It was sooo darn hot that day.
Oh my! What a way to end your trip!!

I think it's quite good. If you are just going for the salad, I'd pay OOP.
Oh, no! What a horrible way to end your trip! :scared1:

Can't wait to see pics of your souvies!!!

Denise
It was a tough ending, we were tired but what are you going to do? Go with the flow.....
So sorry you had such a bad end to your trip. It's hard enough to leave the World but to add insult to injury.

Can't wait for your souvy pics.
You might get the souvies sooner than later....
Apparently you told a very effective story, because I'm feeling like I should go get in the shower now just reading about your plight!
It was quite unpleasant....

That is definitely a crummy way to end the trip, but I'm sure it made you appreciate being home more than you might have otherwise. (You know that's always my take on bad times. ;))
I appreciated my comfy bed and that bath more than you could ever imagine.

Oh, I know hillbilly, when we were kids my Grandmother had a cabin in the Ozarks, it had an outhouse.....
We always returned home with a corncob pipe from Silver Dollar City, and at that time, it was just a cave and a train....

Glad you did make it home safe and sound! I did feel your sadness at leaving, along with the desire to capture all the Disney you could in your last few pictures. I'm glad you were able to get into Brown Derby one more time, too. :thumbsup2
We did make it home, really no worse for the wear. Hollywood Brown Derby was perfect, just as it was on our first night of the trip...

I've very much enjoyed your trip report, and I look forward to joining you on the December trip, as well. We'll keep our fingers crossed for that 4th of July meet next summer!
Thanks for hanging out here with me!
Do you have your July dates yet?

As you know, I've come and gone from your little tease.
Being stranded at the airport had never been a reality for us, just something we saw on the news. I kept thinking of all those people sleeping on the floor....

I'm glad you used "the" instead of "his"
Winkers, get you mind out of the gutter...........

that looks like someone barfed in rows on your plate!
Now that you mention it.........but it tastes so good!
Miserable... and hot... and sticky... and at that point you just want to get home. Reading things like that makes me say DRIVE next summer for us...
We have played with driving for our July trip but we think we can fly cheaper...

Where do you want to buy these points .....

I want another Beach Club contract, about 100 points, Feb. use year. Some banked points would be nice.

Oh, the cruelty of going from Art and Cobb Salad to the Red Roof Inn near the Atlanta airport!

Had we been home (and not still enjoying our AKL), you could have come to stay with us (although we are an hour away from the airport but we do provide toothpaste and a washer machine ).

As I was typing this up, I thought of you and the heat you spoke about on your trip report.....
Next time, could you leave a key under your doormat?
:cutie:

:cutie:

You left on Thursday, right? That was the day Connor was "hallucinating" from the heat.

I'll get one of those fake rocks to put out front with a key in it. :rotfl:

What a horrible horrible way to leave Disney! Oh my goodness! I would have turned around from the airport and gone back to Disney. :rotfl2:

I :lovestruc the 2/1 Brown Derby light photo. Oh and we took almost the exact same photo of the side of Brown Derby. Too funny.

Okay, Southern Belles --- is it a WASHING MACHINE, a "WASHER" or a WASHER MACHINE??? This Marylander isn't certain... we are still confused about our location, Easterner, Mid-Atlantic-er... you get the picture ;)

Oh WigD, YES, I sew costumes... right now I am coordinating a Knight and Dragon costume set.. The Dragon is a transformed "Dinosaur" from two years ago... So I only have ONE to make from scratch! ;) Last year we had Anakin and Yoda... guess which of my boys was Yoda :rotfl:

Really, I would have been calling CP, how ironic you were an hour from her house and she was where you had been an hour earlier :sad2:

I really understand that hallucinating, I had thoughts of jumping off that sauna boat and walking back to the resort....

I'll get one of those fake rocks to put out front with a key in it. :rotfl:
We won't leave a mess, I promise.....;)

Oh that thought did run through my mind...

I :lovestruc the 2/1 Brown Derby light photo. Oh and we took almost the exact same photo of the side of Brown Derby. Too funny.
I thought we had taken very similar pictures outside of Brown Derby.

It's a washing machine or washer here too. I like washer machine, another one of those southernisms I think I'll take hold of, I so wish to be southern.;)

How impressive, I hope you will post pictures of the boys on Halloween night!
I'll be spending some time tomorrow fashioning a door for Baylor to peer through and say "here's Johnny"!
I'm putting my money on the younger boy at your house being Yoda last yea
r!

Really, I would have been calling CP, how ironic you were an hour from her house and she was where you had been an hour earlier :sad2:
Just think, she would have welcomed some stinky Dis friends into her home....

Oh, I wanted to say YUP. Cruelty at its worst... :sad2:
it was such an adjustment....

So I guess Kansas isn't Southern, is it.... :rotfl2: Well not regionally, I supose!!! You are the "Middle West" that Gatsby speaks of... ;) And that gal with the RED shoes... you know I was thinking for a 1/2 minute of Kentucky... is that more "southern!!??" :lmao:

"BINGO" on the Yoda... I might have photos. Pretty funny. I will post pics when they are all done, don't worry! Going to post my mini trippie to shennandoah on my Dec PTR... but TOMORROW. I am hittin' the hay!!!! ;)
