A Wigdout trip report, DISmeets, Flashing Jelly Rings and Manpris, Oh MY!

I'm thinking washer machine is a Jackieism. I've never heard it before either and I'm Southern through and through.

It could very well be.

although this year I thinking I'm wearing my sparkly Minnie ears that I got last week! ::MinnieMo

I am so buying a pair of those next summer!!! I have been wanting a pair all month.

Our football homecoming is next weekend. (Clemson) We're all going, so the kids are actually going to "trunk or treat" in the parking lot after the game. Lily is going to wear her Minnie Mouse costume (I'm looking for some black tights & a black turtleneck since it has no sleeves) and Morgan is going to be a Jedi (he has a long brown robe so it should be warm).

Cute costumes! Did you go to Clemson? (I must admit to being a Gamecocks fan.)

My computer is healthy again...I feel oddly calmer now that I can Dis again...:cool1:

Anita-I'm assuming that Psycho or the Birds is for you and not the second graders...:lmao:...Vertigo is also very, very good...:thumbsup2

LOVE my sparkly ears. I kept seeing people in them and wanting them. Finally on our last day I gave in and got them.

Yes, Sam and I both went to Clemson. We met there in the band and we march in alumni band every year. I'll try to forgive you for being a Gamecock fan. :rotfl2: Actually, growing up outside of Columbia, lots of my friends (and some of my family) are Gamecocks. (I keep trying to bring them over from the dark side, but y'know....)

So sorry to hear that your home flight was so crappy. It could've been worse. I guess you could've spent the night at a pay by the hour hotel.:rotfl: We have a lot of those around here. The "no-tel motel" is what I say.

Costume Diva's party is Friday with a parade. My guess is we will be at Walmart on Thursday night while he grabs the first thing he sees. :sad2:

I like the idea of breakfast burritos and apples -- that sounds good.
Have you been to the "Family Fun" website in search of costume ideas? I just hate the thought of that desperate Walmart run on Thursday....

I can't believe y'all can still do costumes at school. We are forbidden to even consider costumes (I definitely live in the Bible Belt!) I wear a witch hat every year, although this year I thinking I'm wearing my sparkly Minnie ears that I got last week! ::MinnieMo

Lily and Morgan looking awesome Trick or Trunking! I honestly think that we are among the minority of school that still has the costume party. I imagine in time it won't happen anymore.

I have been wondering where you were! I'm glad you are connected again!
Hmmmm, Vertigo, I'll check that one out, I actually haven't seen it before. Now I know this is a bit campy and not Hitchcock but I also love, "Hush, Hush Sweet Charlotte"
When I was young it was "THE" must see movie!

I just love the name "Gamecocks".....

Probably would have ended up with bed bug bites too!

Some people I know and love dearly say warsher. I've just learned to deal with it. Fortunately, none of them are my own children. :thumbsup2

Your y'all is true to your southern roots, but shouldn't I've never heard it really be I ain't never heared it?

I vote for the sparkling Minnie ears. :)

wigd, no costumes allowed at our school. I'm so glad, because even our second and third-graders so often want to be something really gory.

I like the breakfast burrito and apples idea!

Good luck with all your costume and party pursuits this week. :goodvibes

I don't watch any kind of scary movies. I am a huge chicken and would have nightmares for sure!

We lived in Columbia, SC for a few years. How well I remember that rivalry. My middle child was actually born while we were there. It was really beautiful but so far from home. We thought real hard about going last year for the LSU game. I really miss their State Fair.

The y'all is as much a part of my vocabulary as the word you is...I honestly don't notice it until someone mentioned it. As for the "ain't" word and the double negative, my Mema would have beat me senseless if I had talked like that. In her very proper mind, y'all was grammatically correct so it was okay! :lmao:

I think I remember my Grandma saying "warsher" but she was from Missouri, Springfield, you know the one with the outhouse at her cabin.....:cutie:

Are you talking about the headband style? I have them, very cute but they give me a headache if I wear them very long!

I've heard a few of my little boys talking about their "Scream" masks..... The policy states: gruesome, gory costumes and weapons are not allowed.
This is the first time Baylor has wanted to do scary. All it entailed was a plaid shirt, jeans, work boots, and mom to create a door for him to peer through.
I'm sure we will have some very cute costumes too!

Oh I'll bet a state fair in S. C. would be very memorable!
DRAMA. . .what's that? You wouldn't mean like the kind of drama my trip had?
OH yes I do!:laughing::confused::eek:

I :lovestruc all of Hitchcock's movies! This is the best time of year to watch them!

I asked the Costume Diva about both of them, and he said no. :headache: Do you see why I am losing my mind???

I'm a Hitchcock fan too!

Anita: you would like Vertigo. Some other goods ones are Rear Window and North by Northwest.

You know I'll be listening to your Southernisms when we hang out together in December!

Oh thank you! I'll be adding them to my list!

Wigd....

I had to come back tonight and watch the Monster Mash again! That tune is kind-of catchy! I can't get it out of my head!

Shannon, growing up in Charleston, everyone was either a Gamecock or a Tiger.

Vamassey, very cool that you lived in Columbia for awhile!

Anita, yes, I had Connor seated and looking at the Family Fun site earlier today -- I even had the brilliant idea that he should be an alien of some sort. No dice. :sad2: Oh, and Rear Window is quite possibly my FAVORITE Hitchcock movie of them all. :thumbsup2

So it sounds like we have decided that Washer Machine is an endearing quality of our beloved CP.. I like that :goodvibes

Regarding the costumes, yeah, my DS4's montessori allows a costume piece, like a hat or part of it, but not the whole costume and not masks... So he is bringing his three-fingered dragon mitts!!!

DS7 has his party on Friday... love the apple and caramel dip idea.... OH dear, CARAmel or CAREmel... Seems like a tomoatOE TOMAHto "lets call the whole thing off" discussion again :lmao:

I can't wait to see what Conner decides on!!!

WigD I can't wait to see how you end this TR! Hard to top the flight home!

Well, it was worth a try, I thought maybe you would be blowing up a bag of purple balloons and he would be a bunch of grapes.......
OK, I'm sold on Rear Window, it just might be my Halloween movie, oh wait a minute, how about...........The Ghost and Mr. Chicken?!?
:rotfl2:

How cute is that?!? I'll bet that's all he needs to be a dragon!

Friday, I'll be sleeping in after a very long conference day on Thursday. I can't wait to hear all the detail of the classroom party, do you get to go?

I can't wait to see what Conner decides on!!!
Yes, the costume drama has me on pins and needles!

WigD I can't wait to see how you end this TR! Hard to top the flight home!
:surfweb:
There is no beating the Hillbilly Hotel episode, zip, nada, zilch.....
well except we did have a DIS meet a couple of days after we got home......
:rolleyes1

:headache: My Michigan born Grandma used to say warsher. It just hurts my ears to hear!! She also said hamburgs (odd but didn't bother me) and K-Mark (another one that makes me cringe)

My 8 year old tried telling me that if you can spell "ain't" that it must be a word. I told him I can spell blibbity-blobbity but that doesn't make it a word!

There sure is a lot of costume drama! My kids were easy this year. Big brother had a batman costume several years ago that was a no-brainer choice for little brother this year. Big brother found a knight costume at 75% off last year after Halloween and has been asking to get it out for about 2 months now.
