A Whirlwind of Eats and Treats!: April 2015 Dining Report (w/ F&G)- COMPLETED

Oh your BOG lunch looks just perfect!

Great seat by the window - is seating first come, first serve at lunch or assigned?

And your lunch looks amazing - mouth watering kind of amazing! The mashed potatoes look like they would be my favorite part. And I'm just dying to try that cupcake!

I'm sorry the citrus swirl wasn't your thing!

We loved the Beignets a few years ago but as we don't have them here in the UK we had nothing to compare them to. The icing/powdered sugar made a huge mess though :rotfl2:

Your BOG meal looked very yummy and I need to try that cupcake :goodvibes

After starting your DR I checked out your TR from last year. You're such a sweetie and it looks like you had so much fun :)

That entree looked really good at BOG...and want that cupcake! Last time we were there I got all flustered during the ordering process and forgot to order dessert because it was so chaotic in the ordering area!!
If you do it again for lunch, definitely take advantage of the option to pre-order online ahead of time. Honestly, it made a HUGE difference, and really streamlined the whole process. :o

I was ok with it because I ended up being too full after lunch anyway...but definitely want to try that grey stuff next time!
You should! It's delicious! :cloud9:

So I went to check out the menu at the SSF for breakfast to see about those bowls...but they aren't even on the menu online? Maybe I will have to check other sites like all ears or something to see more detail on that...not that it matters...I COULD wait until we are there but...you know how us planners are...lol wanting to know up front :)
Are you sure? I'm looking at the menu right now, and it's about halfway down the page, "Create-Your-Own Breakfast Bowl...$8.50."
Are you looking here? https://disneyworld.disney.go.com/d...sassagoula-floatworks-and-food-factory/menus/

BOG looks yummy! I made the grey stuff when we had friends down last summer--it's always delicious!
You MAKE it at home?!

I don't think I'd be a fan of a citrus swirl either, but it sure looks pretty!
it WAS pretty! And I don't mind trying something once, as long as there's nothing in it that I clearly don't like. (Example: You'll never see me trying a jalapeno pretzel... :crazy2: )

u are cranking out these dining reviews, Billie! Yay!
I gotta finish my TRs and DRs quick after I get home, or else I start forgetting things!! :confused3

Omigosh, that breakfast bowl looks amazing! There was never anything like that available for breakfast anywhere we went. I'm so jealous.
It was really tasty!!! ::yes::

I've heard so much about beignets but I've never tried them. I should have picked some up when we were in France at Epcot but I missed my chance. Maybe I didn't miss much.
They're worth trying! I didn't hate them, I just didn't love them either. A lot of people do, though! :goodvibes

That BBQ looks so good! I wanted Flame Tree when we were at AK but it was still closed so I think I'm still yearning for it. It's kinda hard to find good BBQ up here.
Where as I have the opposite... Good barbeque EVERYWHERE here. I was born and raised in bbq country. So I'm hard to impress. The ribs were really good, though!! :thumbsup2

Aw, I love your little table at BOG. Your entree looks a lot better than mine was. We did pre-ordering and I made the mistake of only getting one gray stuff cupcake so I only got a lick of the grey stuff. What I tasted was good, though.
Next time, grey stuff cupcakes all around! :cutie:

Wow, that breakfast bowl looks amazing! I didn't know they served that there. I may have to stop over on my next trip to Riverside.
It was really good! I've never peeped the options at Riverside though, but I'm sure it's got some great stuff too! :)

Ooohh this is a fun dining report, really enjoying it!
Hooray! I'm so glad to hear it! :-)

I'm working my way up to a solo trip......finally did a solo morning at MK last Feb while the family slept and it was heaven :cloud9:
I loooove my solo trips! I definitely encourage you to do one! :cutie:

You've interested me in Boma again! We did dinner there in 2011 and it's been off my radar since then. It was good, but kids weren't that thrilled and DH hasn't shown interest in going back. Now that they're older and I've seen you're awesome pics, we may have to return soon :scratchin
I've eaten at Boma on every trip I've taken since 2002. I love it! I tried it for breakfast in September for the first time, and it was every bit as good as for dinner. All that being said, I did go once where it felt like they were having an "off" night. I think every restaurant has them from time to time. I would definitely say give them another try! :thumbsup2

I LOVE reading reviews of BOG! It's one of mine and younger DS's favorite restaurants :goodvibes. We do prefer dinner but our lunch was good, too. Lunch once, dinner 5x, and hopefully again in Nov.
I've done it once each now, and I'm not sure which I like better! I had a great experience at each!

I don't know why the grey stuff is so different at lunch? The Master's cupcake is delicious while that grey stuff cookie/brownie bar at dinner......not so much :snooty:
I completely agree! That weird brownie thing is just no good! :sad2:

Wow what an awesome table you scored! That main room, especially by the windows is amazingly beautiful!
Yesss! I was sooo happy that I nabbed it! It was still messy from the people before me when I grabbed it, but I didn't even care. I was perfectly happy to sit and wait for a CM to bus it and wipe it down for me. It was just such a perfect table! :cutie:

And the master's cupcake....I could fly my happy butt down there just for that little treasure!
You and me both, girl! It was super delicious! :goodvibes

The braised pork looks delish too. Loving your dining report so far!
OMG, it was soooooo good. I know what I'm ordering if we do lunch there next time! It was amazing! :thumbsup2

Oh your BOG lunch looks just perfect!
It pretty much was! :woohoo:

Great seat by the window - is seating first come, first serve at lunch or assigned?
There's no assigned seating at lunch, you grab your own. :D

And your lunch looks amazing - mouth watering kind of amazing! The mashed potatoes look like they would be my favorite part. And I'm just dying to try that cupcake!
It was all soooo goood! I want to go back right now! :-)

I'm sorry the citrus swirl wasn't your thing!
It's okay! I was happy to at least give it a try! :teeth:

Why have I never tried the grey stuff yet? Now that I hear so many good reports, I'll have to give it a try next time. I did enjoy the chocolate cream puff as my birthday dessert when I was there in November though.
You NEED to try it next time, for reals! It's so yummy! :cutie:

We loved the Beignets a few years ago but as we don't have them here in the UK we had nothing to compare them to. The icing/powdered sugar made a huge mess though :rotfl2:
They really were super messy, weren't they?

Your BOG meal looked very yummy and I need to try that cupcake :goodvibes
You definitely do! It was so good! :thumbsup2

After starting your DR I checked out your TR from last year. You're such a sweetie and it looks like you had so much fun :)
Awww, that is so nice of you to say! Thank you!

How did this get to be 4 pages long before I found it? Oh well time to catch up!
You've been a busy lady! You're getting ready to go hang out at Hogwarts! :cutie:

There's a Trip Report too, you know. In my signature. Just in case you missed it, too. :D

fantastic photos and reviews...We always stayed at PO FQ...but we didnt get a good AP so we opted for All Star....BUT being at FQ the Beignets are a must...just have to stand back three feet as you take a bite...messy messy..hahaha.
Thanks for your reviews

Love the BOG lunch review! I keep seeing dinner, but we've got a lunch ADR so it's nice to know that your experience was good :D

And I love the POFQ pictures! I've only stayed at Riverside, but FQ is definitely on my list in the future!

I DO hope to get back to BOG and try the grey stuff...I wonder if they let you have it with breakfast lol. And I'm a dork...I did find that bowl on the menu now...not sure why I didn't see it before but thanks for clearing that up! Though it doesn't say what all the options are....I guess for that I may have to wait until "gasp" I'm actually there before I decide what to eat lol. Looking forward to reading more about the food!

You MAKE it at home?!

Yep--it's super easy and really good (but let's face it, it's not "being at Disney, sitting in BOG" good!). I can send you the recipe if you ever feel like trying it.
Our version. I had planned to pipe it into the bowl all pretty and swirly, but there were kids who wanted dessert and pretty flew out the window.

We also made the strawberry soup from Grand Floridian that day. Also very yummy! (We were having a Walt Disney dinner/dumbo movie night with friends that evening--we don't just always make Disney food every night. Although......)

Loving your reviews! Sounds like you had such a fun (yummy!) trip! I'll be continuing to read along for sure. :goodvibes

No kidding! I was eating them and wishing that I had brought a bib!

Thanks for your reviews
Thank YOU for commenting! :goodvibes

Love the BOG lunch review! I keep seeing dinner, but we've got a lunch ADR so it's nice to know that your experience was good :D
My lunch experience was WONDERFUL. If I can't get a dinner ADR for my December trip, I'll be very happy with one for lunch! :thumbsup2

And I love the POFQ pictures! I've only stayed at Riverside, but FQ is definitely on my list in the future!
Oh, you simply must stay there! It's wonderful! :p

I DO hope to get back to BOG and try the grey stuff...I wonder if they let you have it with breakfast lol.
Haha! Probably not, but maybe if you ask somebody reeeeeeal nicely... :cutie:

know from experience it was potatoes, scrambled eggs, ham, bacon, sausage, mushrooms, cheese, and assorted veggies... I know I recall peppers, onions, and maybe tomatoes... maybe spinach? :confused3

And you even serve it with a Mickey spoon?!?! You are my HERO!!!

Yay! I'm glad you're here, and enjoying the food nostalgia! :welcome:

I tend to be a BoG hater (I know, I know I've got problems) but your pot roast just reminded me of how good it could be. I think I'd ordered that a few trips back and now all the porky goodness is coming back to me. I made the mistake of ordering a salad last time and while it was good, it wasn't very filling.

Sadly never done the grey stuff. But that cup cake look pretty darn good.

Having already seen the sunshine seasons pic, it still makes me smile. Maybe we can call it a "spoo-fie"

Mmm, all that porky goodness. :cloud9: I'm considering trying one of their sandwiches next time, just for something different, but I may just stick to what I know and love. Porky goodness. Mmm.

It was crazy tasty! :cutie:

Ha! Love it! The next day, there are a couple of straw-fies, and on Monday one fork-fie.

Nice report so far. Thanks for sharing!

Sassagoula looks like such a fun place! So much to see! I suppose it's not really a trip to POFQ without the beignets, right?! Glad you tried them, even if you're not rushing to go back for more.

I did the pre-ordering online for BoG lunch as well! And... I ordered the EXACT same lunch as you did! (entrée and dessert) Except that I also ordered the French onion soup  Glad I did the pre-order in case the line to order is anything like the one you encountered... and went on past! :rotfl:

Hmm... I would highly doubt I'd be much into the Citrus Swirl either. If I'm having dessert... there'd better be chocolate involved somehow. :rotfl2:

It is a very cool food court! And I'm glad I tried the beignets, too. I'm always all-for trying a places "signature" item, just as long as it doesn't feature an ingredient I don't like. ::yes::

GREAT food choices! :thumbsup2 I thought about ordering a potato leek soup (I had it with dinner in September and it was delicious), but as hot out was it was last weekend, I decided to skip it. And yeah, pre-ordering is TOTALLY the way to go. I'm already thinking about how to explain to my aunt & uncle that I'm going to need their orders in advance. :scratchin

I'm on the opposite end of the spectrum on this one. I love vanilla-flavored stuffs. :cloud9:

What a fantastic DR you've got going! Never tried Boma for dinner, but enjoy the breakfast.

Your BOG lunch looks pretty wonderful, not much like a CS lunch. I've got to try that soon. Thanks for the tip about preordering.

Also not a fan of the citrus swirl, but love the dole whips.

Until my September trip last year, I was the opposite! Had eaten at Boma countless times for dinner, but never breakfast. I finally did try the breakfast though on that trip, and LOVED it! Now can't decide which I like better! So on this most recent trip, I did it for dinner, and for the next one (December), I'll be back for breakfast. Nothing to do but just keep alternating them now, I guess!

Yeah, it's very interesting, it's like an elevated CS meal. Or a CS/TS hybrid. I really like it, though! :thumbsup2

Also not a fan of the citrus swirl, but love the dole whips.
I'm with you! From now on, I'm sticking to either Dole Whips, or just regular ice cream! Yum! :goodvibes

Thanks for the review on Sassagoula--we arrive this Saturday at POFQ and that is where our first meal will be. Getting excited!
