I'm following too and looking forward to your reviews!

This looks awe-some. I've had durban chicken stewed before but never seen it with full pieces.Next is the Durban-Style Roasted Chicken, which was also absolutely amazing.
A girl after my own heart. Love the way you roll.African Rum Runner: Pink Pigeon African Rum, Blackberry Brandy, Creme de Banana, Orange Juice, Pineapple Juice, and Grenadine.
It was exactly what I needed to sooth my nerves and get my vacation started finally!
Ok, I gotta ask what is Fufu? Sounds fun, but strange nameAnd finally, Fufu. Just because I like the name. And it's tasty, too. Win/Win!
Your meals at Sassagoula look great, but then again you had me at beignet...the ubiquitous beignets! They were good. I don't know that it's necessarily something I would order again, but I'm definitely glad that I tried them!
There was! I wish I could remember them all. I know it was the three meats I got, cheese, potato, mushrooms, eggs, and several other veggies! That breakfast bowl looked so good and kinda different...I'm gonna check out the menu...are there a lot of options for what you can get in the bowls?
This was my first beignet experience, and they were good, just not OMG AMAZING.I have to admit we thought the beignets there are just "ok". We are total beignet snobs though, having had them several times at Cafe Du Monde in New Orleansit just ain't the same.
It really yummy, I was surprised how good it was!But the chicken and ribs combo....total yummo!
And thank YOU for following and commenting!Following. Thanks for posting.
Welcome!I'm following too and looking forward to your reviews!![]()
No, thank YOU!Great reviews so far, thank you!
Yay, Kari is here! Hi, Kari!Fashionably late, but I'd never miss a whirlwind of eats!
This was my first time trying Durban anything, but it was DELICIOUS.This looks awe-some. I've had durban chicken stewed before but never seen it with full pieces.
I rarely drink at home, but as far as I'm concerned, when on vacation, it's always cocktail hour.A girl after my own heart. Love the way you roll.
It's basically mashed sweet potatoes with coriander and cinnamon.Ok, I gotta ask what is Fufu? Sounds fun, but strange name
Everybody seems to love them beignets!Your meals at Sassagoula look great, but then again you had me at beignet.
That's the question I ask myself over and over, planning each of my trips. Breakfast and dinner there are BOTH absolutely amazing! So hard to choose.Boma looks amazing! I wasn't sure if we would hit it for breakfast or dinner during our next stay at AKL. But now maybe...both?
Us T-Rex's do appreciate a good selection of meat on a buffet line. Boma definitely has that! But they also have a ton of vegetarian options, too. The place is just amazeballs.Jim is a total carnivore so I know he would be happy there!
Ehhhh. Having had them now, I don't think I myself would make a special trip for them. I say if you're ever staying at POFQ, definitely give them a try, though!I've heard rave reviews of the beignets. I'm trying to decide if it's worth a special trip over to Port Orleans for them (and a peek at the resort as well) but maybe not?
Yaaaassss. Being raised in the south, this was total comfort food for me. I loved it.Dinner looks good! Nice and filling, good homestyle food!
I'm the opposite! I've been to Boma countless times, but never Jiko or Sanaa!I've always wanted to try Boma...been to Jiko and Sanaa but never Boma![]()
I couldn't get over how delicious it was, honestly! I wish I had more of it to eat RIGHT NOW!That Salmon looks sooo yummy!!!
not just double cheese, but I ask the CM to layer it a certain way for me, and she was happy to do it... Potatoes, eggs, layer of cheese, meats, mushrooms, another layer of cheese. I wanted to make sure there was melty gooey cheese all through it.Yum, I think I could have a breakfast bowl at any time of the day - I didn't know about those, I will have to put that on my list. So smart to think of double cheese!
I usually TRY to do the same thing! I bring breakfast stuff from home (danishes, etc) and tell myself that I'm going to just eat in the room while getting dressed... But then I get there, and most mornings I end up eating out somewhere anyhow. Whoops! That breakfast bowl looks amazing, I may have to try that this September when we are there. This year we are eating breakfast at somewhere Disney, in previous years we saved money by ordering breakfast items from Garden Grocer like Pop Tarts, but this trip we decided to splurge and try some of the breakfasts offered...this will definitely be on my list!
Hi, honey!Hi Billie! I usually never following Dining Reports but you sucked me in from your TR! I will have to come back and get all caught up later today. Just wanted to say Hi!![]()
Hahaha! This is the EXACT reason I am so hesitant to ever stay at the Boardwalk! The Mardi Gras masks only give me a little pause, but clowns... now they TOTALLY freak me out. And this... well... THIS here just terrifies me...Even though we're staying at POFQ soon, those Mardi Gras masks really freak me out. DH is going to have to suck it up and go in there for me because I'm definitely going to be getting that breakfast bowl!
You know, I'm not a big collards person! In fact, as you'll notice through out this report, I'm not a big veggies person in general.I'm with you an on the beignets. While they are tasty, they aren't Cafe Du Monde tasty. BUT - I do see one thing missing from your dinner at Sassgagoula ... the collards. Oh my word ... the collards are outstanding!
I'm so glad! Thanks for being here!Enjoying your report so far![]()
Wow what an awesome table you scored! That main room, especially by the windows is amazingly beautiful! And the master's cupcake....I could fly my happy butt down there just for that little treasure! The braised pork looks delish too. Loving your dining report so far!Be Our Guest

Lunch
I'd done dinner here in September, but this was my first lunch, so I was super excited to check it out! I had done the online pre-ordering, and MAAAAN was I glad! The line for people waiting for the ordering kiosks was crazy long!!I was so happy to be able to walk right past them all, and go straight to a register, and then onto my table.

My table! How perfect is that? I had a lovely view of both the ballroom, and the snow falling outside the window.
My food arrived relatively quickly, and once it was there to hold my table for me, I went to the drinks and silverware station to grab my needed supply, then was back at my table and ready to dig in! It looked DELICIOUS and smelled even better, but I restrained myself for photos...

Braised Pork (Coq Au Vin Style): Eight Hour Slow-cooked Pork with Mushrooms, Onions, Carrots and Bacon served with Mashed Potatoes and Green Beans Jardiniere.
I'm not a fan of onions or peppers, so those all got picked out. The green beans were surprisingly good, even for a carnivore like myself! However, the mashed potatoes and the pork were the real stars of this meal. Both were absolutely incredible. I'm drooling a little as I reminisce about them right now!

And of course... the Master's Cupcake! I enjoyed this farrrrr more than the way they serve the Grey Stuff at dinner. I could eat a dozen of these babies! Yum!
