A "What if" question

There are a lot of roles I could see myself in. ;)

Eponine in Les Miz (I love that part more than any other)
Mary Magdeline in Jesus Christ Superstar
Sandy in Grease
Belle in Disney's Beauty and the Beast

I'd also love to play Kim in Miss Saigon, but since I'm a 6'0" tall pale blonde and probably couldn't pass for anything close to Asian.... I'd settle for Ellen. :teeth:

I would have loved to be Adalaide in "Guys and Dolls". You know, "you promise me this, you promise me that you promise me everything under the sun and you give me a kiss and you're grabbin' your hat and you're off to the races again"

Of course it helps this is the musical our high school did that I participated in but I wasn't Adalaide :sad1:

:p
:rotfl2: :rotfl2: That's just too funny.

I would love to play Harold Hill in the Music Man (have all the songs memorized) but since my gender prohibits this, I'd be Marion the Librarian. Oh, does the fact that I can't carry a tune matter?

Okay, if I had my choice I would play Sweeney Todd in the musical of the same name. I love Sondheim, and was so totally blown away by Len Cariou and Angela Lansbury, that I saw the production twice, something that I've never done.

Given a mediocre singing voice, one that couldn't possibly do Sondheim (I did stage manage a college production of Company, which, if it wasn't the first non profesional production, it was in the first five), the part I had always been dying to play was the Judge in Ten Little Indians. I got to play it in community theatre nine years ago. That was a rush.

And by the way, CCT, I love your signature.

Wow, what a fantasy!

Maria from The Sound of Music
Fiona from Brigadoon
Eliza Doolittle from My Fair Lady
Galinda from Wicked

High soprano is obviously my preference.

Doesn't matter, the rules of the "What if" question dictates that anything is possible, and whatever you want you get. So any role, doesn't matter what gender you are, and as for the singing? I refer you back to the "What if" rules.

I refer you to the above rule regarding the "What if" question..anything is possible.

Thanks. What part do you like? If you want to borrow any of it for your signature you can.

What a great question! I would pick something from a musical, I love musicals! And since you said any part in any show, here are my picks:

Gene Kelly's part in "Singing in the Rain"--Don Lamont.
John Adams in "1776" or Ben Franklin or Thomas Jefferson
Maria in "Sound of Music"
Belle in Disney's "Beauty & the Beast"--just so I could wear the yellow dress!
Mary Poppins in "Mary Poppins"--previews start soon, so this counts!
Horton in "Seussical"
the female lead in "Crazy for You". I wish I could remember the character's name, but she gets to sing "Someone to Watch Over Me", which is one of my favorite songs.

I could go on & on. I haven't seen "Wicked" or "Rent" yet. "Wicked" is on my list of must sees!

Maria in West Side Story.

There are so many others that would be great. It's hard to decide! Fun question!

Easy- Eponine in Les Mis (w/ Fantine being a close 2nd--- anyone except Cossette!)

Is Jeckyll and Hyde still on Bway? If so then I would want to be Lucy.

No need to be on B'way for you to want to do the role...there are revivals you know. :thumbsup2 And as for Mary Poppins, that's cool, because it is in rehearsals/previews

Good, because I have always loved the movie. It was the very first movie I saw in a movie theater (my grandpa & great aunt took me to get me out of my mother's way when I was 4) & I have loved it ever since. I know every song from the movie. And I am going to see it on Broadway in December!

I wouldn't mind playing the role of Sheridan Whiteside in "The man who came to Dinner." Nathan Lane last played the role in the revival in 2000. I saw this show back in Albuquerque, NM and loved it.

Sure, but go ahead and keep it musical. It's called Sherry and Clive Revill played the part on Broadway. Not supposed to be that good, but hey. I never heard of a critic who reviewed it by saying, "I may vomit."

Oh. I like the theatrical logic in your signature. It's something that I wish I could share with friends back in college. "But that was many years ago/I doubt if anyone recalls...." Stephen Sondheim

I guess it didn't do so good...it only had 72 performances. Here's what Internet Broadway Data Base had on it ibdb :
The credits for this production have not yet been completed or verified.
Sherry!

Oh... I'll add two more!
Queenie or Kate in either version of Wild Party! I have never seen it but love the songs in both versions

Can I add one more? Rizzo from GREASE..I've always loved her character because she's a tough girl with a heart of gold that nobody (except maybe Kenickie) knows about. :)

There are worse things I could do, than go with a boy..or two.
Even though the neighborhood thinks I'm trashy and no good,
I suppose it could be true, but there are worse things I could do.

I could flirt with all the guys...smile at them and bat my eyes.
Press against them when we dance, make them think they stand a chance,
then refuse to see it through.
That's a thing I'd never do.

I could stay home every night, wait around for Mr.Right.
Take cold showers every day and throw my life away on a dream that won't come true.

I could hurt someone like me, out of spite or jealousy.
I don't steal and I don't lie, but I can feel and I can cry.
But to cry in front of you..that's the worst thing I could do.

mary poppins or belle!!!!!

i know the guy who choreographed mary poppins!!!! i know the supercalifragilisticexpialidocious dance!!! lol!!!

Gertrude McFuzzy in Seussical
Little Red (or any female lead) in Into the Woods

Ursula in Bye Bye Birde
Ellen in Miss Siagon
Jan or Marty in Grease
Elphaba in Wicked ( but then who wouldnt!)

Martha in Secret Garden

im sure there is more but give me a few minutes....
