Now I know we've had a much milder winter than we normally have, but you could imagine how shocked I was last night to find a WASP crawling on the bathroom floor. :scared1: It was huge - 3 or 4 times the size of a normal wasp, but appeared to be unable to fly.

We think it may have come from the loft - DH was up there getting the Christmas tree and decorations last night and the hatch was open for a while till he put the empty boxes back up.

Nnnnnooooo !! I Hate wasps, and I hate to hear that they are getting bigger (and more frightening)

You're right, it must be due to our warm Autumn and mild Winter

Yuck

Nope your definately not alone here.
DP got me some flowers and I popped them in the sink for a while, when I came back I took the plug out and arranged them in the vase.
As I looked into the sink,a massive wasp not flying etc was just crawling around.
I presume it was in the flowers....but it is definately odd.

Had to get DP to catch it. :lmao:

There was something on our local news last night about how nature is confused due to the climate changes we are experiencing! This includes insects/plants/animals etc....

Poor wasp, it won't know what is happening!

Thankfully wasps are something that I don't mind. It's those BIG hairy spiders that freak me out :scared1:

I know what you mean!! I hate it when I can tell our two cats are watching something on the floor and then I realise it's a spider :rotfl: sometimes, I just leave the room and let them deal with it for me!!

We found a wasp in one of our Xmas decorations last night. It was still alive!! :scared1:

I saw one crawling last week, thought I was seeing things. :confused3

I hate wasps too! I believe the queens overwinter somewhere dark - I'm not sure if they actually hibernate, but if you've disturbed it or turned up the heating it might think it's spring.

We've had one at work for the last 3 weeks or so, also a very large variety, just hope it's not thinking of starting a new nest. It seems to love the light fittings which is odd but hey as long as it keeps away from me it's fine :goodvibes

We had a similar instance last winter and I did a bit of research on the net, and as Libby says the queen is a lot bigger and she finds somewhere dark and warm to stay for the winter, we found ours in our sons bedroom and I wouldn't believe them when they said there was a huge wasp on the floor. :guilty:

Hi

We saw a big bumble bee yesterday whilst waiting to see Santa at Knott Cutts Garden Centre. They have animals there as well. They had reindeers, pigs, goats, donkey and turkey. I was quite shocked to see one and ran as soon as it started to fly towards me. I dont like them at all.
