A Warning for all Pet Owner's!

Hi all my DIS friends, it is that time of year again! Yesterday while outside with Jamie, I saw something black on her. It was a TICK! Remember to check your Furbabies!

We got a pile of snow yesterday so ticks are a ways off for us but it is a good reminder!

Our vet did a blood test on our Dalmatian a few weeks ago because she had the symptoms of Lyme disease. (thank goodness she didnt) He did say that 10 dogs in our area has tested positive for lyme ......so make sure your furbabies get the lyme test in the spring with their heart worm test

We found a tick on our dog about a month ago. Yes...middle of February in Massachusetts.

Oh please do check your pets. I was bitten by a tick years ago and tested positive for lyme disease. I was only 10 and went through a lot of medical treatments. The doctors believed I had gotten the tick off one of my pets. We check ours often now. Trust me, what I went through I wouldn't wish on anyone.

Wow! So early. We just got Frontline for our trip to FL but we usually don't use it til April here.

We have found ticks in the winter. In fact, I DS#3 had a deer tick on Sunday. He "incinerated" it before he removed it properly, leaving body fragments behind.

Jamie has had her lyme shots from the vet, did you know that you can still get these shots for your furbabies, no matter what the age of the animal! DH said this morning, he found another one on her lastnight!

Beagles must be a magnet for ticks, Kitty! Gunny got one on the side of his face three weeks ago. He also has his Lyme shots. DH removed it with directions I got from the internet.

And he uses Frontline all year round.....
