A Very Disney Christmas! Nov/Dec 2010 PTR (Trip Drama & 2 Days! 11/24)

We went in January one year and ran out of shorts and t shirts because we were planning on jeans pants and long sleeve shirts. We had to buy a couple of tshirts while there and the last day during the warmest parts of the day we let Abby walk all around fantsyland and toon town in just her swim suit. It was close to 90 each day. But that is rare. And even then it got cool at night since there is so much less daylight.

WOW!! 90 degrees in January!! That's crazy!!

Ok, finished with your last update. Yay!!!! We are going to have dinner at WCC at the same time as you. I am so excited! We are basically doing the same thing that day...avoiding the crowds at the parks and just hopping around the hotels to look at the lights. We wanted to end at the WL because we know it is going to be GORGEOUS.

We have a couple of other days that overlap at the parks too. I have started a PTR, and I was going to post our itenerary & ADR's today.

Can you believe that our trips are so close?

I know this it totally cheating, and I know that it is morally and ethically right to go back and read your entire TR to find out the answer to this question, but my beloved Vols just got stomped by Becky's beloved Crimson Tide, and I'm devastated:sad:. So I'm going to jump ahead a few steps: What celebrity did you sight?!?! I've seen the link to your TR a few times, and I'm dying to know.

Becky- this whole packing thing is throwing me for a loop, too. I even sent in a question about this to the Passporter Mom's podcast (and they answered me! I was so excited!) and I haven't gotten much more grasp on what in the world I'm going to pack. Layers seem to the key. To be perfectly honest, I've already packed most of the girls' clothes:rolleyes1, and I'm just going to add in a few layering pieces. I have 2 halter dresses (one for AK, one for MK). that I'll put leggings under, and either a T-shirt underneath them or a sweater over top. I have a T-shirt and jeans outfit for AK, a long sleeved shirt and jeans outfit for one EPCOT day, a T-shirt and skirt outfit that I'm going to put leggings under for an MK day. I am going to add in a couple of extra T-shirts, some long sleeved white T-shirts, white sweaters, a coat, and a scarf and gloves set and then I'll be pretty much done! I'll just have to hope that I've packed enough. I know that I'll always wish that I had packed something else, but that always gives me an excuse to do a little shopping! Darn!

It's so tough to know if you'll (I'll!)be prepared. It actually causes me an inordinate amount of anxiety when I think about it, but I just have to hope that everything will be okay once we get there. Otherwise, I'll drive myself bonkers!:scared:

Thanks for posting that, Becky. The packing question has been on my mind a lot lately, too. I think I made my November trip announcement on my PTR while you were away from the boards. :confused3 Miguel and I are headed down to Disney for a short trip Novemeber 25-30! :woohoo: We just couldn't wait until the honeymoon! :lmao: After our freezing January trip I'm very cautious about what we pack. I know that even though it's the sunshine state, it can get cold! I'm planning on warm days and cool nights. So basically, two wardrobes!

That's the thing about going in December -- trying to figure out what kind of clothes to bring. I guess layering is the way to go. Can't wait to see what darling outfits the girls will be wearing! They always have the cutest clothes! :goodvibes

Yeah, but it was a fluke that it was 90. It made CNN and stuff. I packed Abby some dresses that could be worn with or without tights or leggings and we just went without the leggings or lost them by 11am.

Unfortunately it will be difficult to plan outfits for this time of year. I live in Fl and it's hard for me to pick out clothes to send the kids to school in! It's cold in the morning but I don't want them to burn up in the afternoon on the playground. I think pants and short sleeve shirts or dresses with tights would be good for the days. Layering will definitely help. I hope this helps, it looks like your friends message was great advice.

Becky,
Last year DH and I went the first week of December for our Anniversary. We had cold weather and wore jeans and sweatshirts the whole trip. On our MVMCP night we had to wear polar fleece. Florida had a very cold winter last year though. We stayed at Yacht Club and it was too cold to try out the pool on that trip. We didn't even wear crocs at all. Dressing in layers will be a great idea and I would pack jeans and sweaters/sweatshirts for sure.

I just caught up, so glad to see that you're back!!! Congrats on Claire's potty usage haha :) I just went to Disney this past weekend and when I got home my 3 year old niece was potty trained, it was a big surprise because she had been so against it for so long.

Hmm, packing for a winter trip does sound tricky! Seems like layers are the key-- long sleeves, fleeces, short sleeves. I'd say to plan outfits around pants or leggings-- I think shorts would take up space.
Claire sounds hysterical-- can't imagine how scary it was to see her putting a screw into an electrical socket, but like you said-- just to imagine what was going on in her little mind when she did it! Definitely God keeping you humble if Ally is more easy going!!

Andrea--you crack me up!! :lmao: I was very nervous throughout the 1st half. But by the 2nd half I was enjoying the game much more! Alabama FINALLY showed up!

I mostly have dresses for the girls that I can layer leggings and long-sleeved shirts underneath. And then of course hoodies and coats. The shoes are what's giving me the most trouble. Normally we all just wear Crocs but I'm not so sure that'll cut it if it is cooler.

No problem!! Glad I can help! No way!!!! I had no idea--I'll be sure and check out your PTR--I'm catching up slowly but surely! Where are ya'll staying?!

Oh--I'm sure! I bet it changes daily! Thank you so much for your input--it does help!! :goodvibes

Thanks Nichole!! I will definitely be packing jeans for myself and sweatshirts, too! I get cold VERY easily!!

Thank you!! I'm THRILLED that she finally decided to give up diapers!! :goodvibes

I know!! Much more to pack for sure! Yes, Claire is pretty funny and oh so cute! She means well and provides plenty comedic relief in our family!

Ella Kate doesn't have any Crocs that fit her, so she'll be in Robeez and Pedipeds. I hope to find her one pair of boots before we leave for her to wear on MVMCP night. Caroline will probably be in Pedipeds, and hopefully a pair of boots, too. I'm hoping to find a steal on a pair of Uggs for each of them on eBay, although I'm not sure Uggs even come in Ella's size.

eBay will be my best friend for a while. Caroline just hit a growth spurt, and all of a sudden, nothing fits! She's been able to wear 24m clothes (even though she's 3!) up until just recently. Now all her pants are too short (even though they fall off of her waist), and she seems to be growing into a new shoe size every month! :scared1:

POR! I stayed there a lot as a kid back when it was Dixie Landings so it holds a lot of memories for me. :cloud9:

Oh how nice!! I'm so excited for ya'll, Courtney!! :goodvibes

I guess I'm going to bring their Crocs, Keds, and New Balances unless I come up with something else. Hmmm . . .

Oh wow! She was in 24m clothes at 3!! WOW! Claire just turned 3 and is wearing size 4T!! But she is sooo tall for her age! I took her last Tuesday for her yearly checkup and she is 39 inches tall! I told the nurse that we were hoping for 40 so she could ride more rides at Disney. She told me that wearing shoes would probably get her there!! Oh--and my girls have HUGE feet! Claire is in a Toddlers size 10 and Ally is in a kids 3!!!

Welcome back!! I was actually in Disney last week so I missed all of these updates. That is wonderful how smooth your transition was to your new church and congrats on your house selling. Your ADRs sound great. We just ate at Garden Grill last week and loved it. The salad was amazing! That is so awesome you got to meet Laura Bush. I can't wait to read more of your plans!

Thank you!! I'm sooo glad to be back! Oh good--I've heard great things about Garden Grill and can't wait to try it!! How were the crowds last week? Last week was our Fall Break and I'm trying to plan our October trip for next year. I'd love to hear your input!

Well, they're about the same, then. We measured Caroline at home and she was 38.5 inches, but that last half inch has been in the last month and a half. She was only 38 inches at her 3 yr appt in mid September. I must just have skinny minnies! If something fits in the length, it's huge in the waist and bottom. In the summer it wasn't a big deal since shorts length doesn't matter as much. Now that she's wearing pants more, though, I'm really noticing how much taller she's grown. I'm going to have to start buying 3T adjustable waist pants and just cinching them up as far as they will go.

What do you plan to do about a stroller? Do you bring your own?

We rented this stroller from Orlando Stroller Rentals in May: https://www.orlandostrollersrentals.com/Step2.aspx?PID=4. We LOVED it and will be renting from them again! They delivered the stroller to our resort and we picked it up from Bell Services once we arrived. It is super lightweight and easily collapsible. Both girls were able to ride comfortably and both seats fold down so they were able to sleep comfortably in it as well. At the end of the week you return it back to Bell Services and they pick it up from them. It was only $85 for the week! I HIGHLY recommend them!! :goodvibes

I didn't think the crowds were too bad. I mean night time at World Show case for food and wine were a little crowded. But we went two days in a row around 10 and went straight to WS and there was no one there! I think people mostly start at the front and work their way back. We noticed by Friday the 22nd that it started to get more crowded everywhere. They said it was because this was halloween week and it tends to be more crowded and people were just arriving for it. We plan on going the exact same week next year too. We stayed at the Villas at Wilderness Lodge and loved it! So relaxing. We don't have any kids yet so we like to go to the parks early spend time by the pool in the after noon and then go back at night. The quiet pool was really nice and peaceful during the day. I would have to say that over all that is was a good week to go. A couple years ago we went the week before we did this year and found it a little more crowded. Hope this helps!
