A Very Chit-Chat Thread

Hi everyone! I know no one else is probably on at this time, but I can never sleep right after I get off work, which is usually around 11pm.
Depending on my energy level I either get on the treadmill for a while or just sit in front of my laptop. Tonight it was a little of both :)

Hope everyone has a great day!

Hello!

I'm awake! But I have to be as I am at work :lmao:

 Had a great time on our mini-SoCal trip. We had fun with family and it was really nice weather overall. It rained a bit on Sunday morning and was cooler-than-usual-for-May but nothing bad at all. We had a blast at DL on Sunday. We saw WoC and the Pirates 3D sneak peek, which was way more fun than I thought it would be. The pirates were hilarious and so much fun. We pretty much got on all our favorite rides, and DH and I were even able to do a single rider pass each on California Screamin :thumbsup2

Oh, and we got to check out Hungry Bear. It was pretty good, but not as good as I hoped. DH got the burger and he liked the one he got at Village Haus last trip more. The fried green tomato burger was good, but it's hard to justify the price for a vegetarian sandwich  I got the blueberry pie too, which is really cute but the taste was just all right. I wish I got the cupcake instead! Overall, a HUGE improvement on the type of food they used to serve. I am excited for the changes coming this summer. The terrace and tiki bar at DLH, the new food at Paradise pier.

Even with all the construction walls at DCA, you can really tell that it is coming together. I really think it will be awesome and a genuine contender for crowds vs. DL in the next couple of years.

Another thought. ElecTRONica - now I liked this when it first came out. But the fact that it's continuing through labor day is kind of lame IMO. It really does affect the way that part of DCA looks even when it's not going on, and the movie is long gone from theaters ... I know they keep it going because it's a huge $$$ maker for DCA but it would be nice if they moved away from the TRON theme ... they could serve drinks and have dance parties in a way that's more themed with the area ... old school hollywood, speakeasy or something like that??! I'm sure they're just being cheap, already have all the TRON decor and it's popular with guests, so why change it? :confused3

Sounds like you had a great trip Tania! I am looking forward to all the changes going on at DCA. It should be a great park when it's all done.

I agree with you about the TRON stuff. It kind of takes away from the theme they have in that area of the park. I just hope they leave the arcade when they do take it away, as that's what Dillon is really excited to see when we go back.

Anyways, glad to hear you had a good time! :)

Good to hear you had a fun time Tania! I never really got to fully experience ElecTRONica...I just walked through it but it looked like a lot of fun, and I would have stayed if my friend wasn't sick from our 3 rides on Screamin and 2 rides on TOT!
But I do agree with you, about keeping the idea but changing the theme. Even during summer with Glow Fest, that was similar to ElecTRONica, and was fun.
Can't believe I will be in DLR in a few days!!! :woohoo:

Woohoo!!:dance3:

No one was very talkative yesterday!

Tania - glad you had a good time in SoCal and enjoyed DL!

Electronica holds absolutely no interest for me. I wish it would go away. I haven't checked the schedule for June. I hope it is just on the weekends!

----

So I am at work tonight. I received a phone call just before 1pm yesterday asking if I wanted to work. They didn't say why they needed extra but it was a weird phone call as it wasn't from the staffing office but from an Admin.

I agreed to work though as you all know I want extra $$$$

Around 5pm I got a phone call from the evening shift assistant manager saying I was coming in to be the FCE for nightshift. FCE is basically the expert for the computer charting system we have. I haven't had to work in my FCE role in over a year so that was a weird voicemail. When I got to work I found out that the computer system was going to be down so they wanted help here in case of issues.

Pretty much it is a night of pay without having to do much... :rotfl2:

Yay for getting paid for not doing much!:thumbsup2 I love days like that. I work at a Starbucks, usually the closing shift, and some nights we are slammed and usually end up staying overtime to finish up the cleaning. Other nights, like last night, are super slow, so we can only stand around and talk waiting for customers to come in! I do feel guilty, but then I remember the crazy busy nights and figure I am allowed to relax every now and then!
Starting today I have 4 days off! :woohoo: After working 7 in a row, it will be nice.
Hope everyone is having a good morning!

I am not sure I would like to work at Starbucks. Although most of your customers are happy to get their product as a general rule there is that element of surly customers.

Enjoy your 4 day weekend!!

So while not having my own patient responsibility last night I ended up helping out a lot and doing a ton of walking!

I used to work at Starbucks. It was the first job I had when I moved to California. I moved here without a job and was starting work 2 weeks to the day of arriving in the state. I was very blessed to be able to find work so quickly. I worked there for 1.5 years all while trying to find a job in Marketing (what my first degree is in). After Starbucks I went to Kinkos. I was there for about 4 months when I realized that wasn't working. However it really wasn't my decision to go back to school. My husband said. "I'm going back to school and if I am, you are too!" So I decided to go back to school for nursing. BEST DECISION EVER! I LOVE my job (most days!)

Okay so that started out with saying I also worked at SBux and you all got my recent life history. :rotfl2: Anyways I liked Starbucks. I love working with people so it was okay for me. (I had prior History of working at McDonald's for 7.5 years so Customer Service is just a part of me!)

I used to do the opening shift in all those jobs so weird hours are a part of me too!

Starbucks is actually a decent place to work if you like talking and working with people. I make a MEAN Cappuccino! (I had people VERY upset I was leaving cause they always wanted me to make their drinks!)

I worked at McDonald's too for close to 6 years. After so long, you just get used to the cranky customers and learn to just deal with it. Also I loved my job there. With the right staff, a day there could be a lot of fun. Also, the free food when you're a manager isn't so bad either! Or I guess it could be if you take too much advantage of it, lol.

Ha-Ha.... I was just regular staff for awhile and then went to a shift manager my last couple of years. I was there through HS and College. In that time I started out wearing a size 14 and when I quit I was a size 20!! I'd say I took advantage of the food a little TOO much! Unfortunately I still like McD's HAHA :rotfl2:

I was actually lucky and didn't gain too much wait at first. I might have gained a bit when the food became free though! :rotfl: And I still like the food too! Sometimes I think I might be addicted to it. I can't usually go for more than a week or 2 without having it!

Meh, I am okay I guess. How are you?

I'm okay except for the freakin migraine I have! Normally I sit on my laptop in the morning exploring ideas for my trip and being excited but today I am just in pain and want this migraine gone!
