A Vacation From My Problems (A Sept. 2010 Trip Report) - COMPLETED 12/14

I love your report, it is very entertaining. I know how frustrating it can be to have a child who is scared to ride things that you know they would like. My son is scared to try just about any ride. We finally made him ride POTC and he loved it. Next trip he will be trying more rides, not by his choice I am sure. It is good to hear that I am not alone in torturing my child. :rolleyes1

:welcome:

Thanks for reading along! I guess we just figure sooner or later, he'll realize the rides aren't as scary as they look, and he'll notice that he's actually enjoying them. I'll let you know when Children's Protective Services comes to haul us away.

Don't feel bad. You have to be fast to beat Glenn. I think he begins quoting within 30 seconds of my putting up the post. I'm starting to wonder if he's stalking me... :tiptoe:

I figured you were due for an update. I was just hoping it didn't go up between 11 and 12:30, when I was unavailable. (ETA: unavailable, due to being busy installing GPS tracking device to the Oblivious-mobile) Whew!

Laugh it up, fuzzball.

Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope

You're right, which causes me to yell:

"Nooooooooooooooo!!!!" (Which is from Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith)

Actually in order that the Movies were released I believe this was Luke's line in The Empire Strike Back as well. :thumbsup2

I've first of all have to add a CRUD for the day I've had. I actually have been working and just now got a chance to read the installment.

Given my late entry I have noticed a lack of 1 reference (intended or not) related to "Shenanigans". I would make the argument that this is in reference to Office Space. (name of the restaurant Jennifer Aniston worked at)

Also I have to add the love of Disney Theming (themeing?). We have had the good fortune to stay at POFQ, Poly and WL and loved all three because of the way Disney transports you to the time/place they are trying to represent.

I can't wait for the opportunity to stay at some of the other resorts just to experience the themeing (theming?). Not to mention, waking up to a giraffe eating breakfast next to your balcony is something on our list.

Finally another Beverly entry:

Beverly: The anti-Snapple.

Yeah, it was a pretty obvious theme... you were on a big foreign film kick there. :rotfl2:
I know you probably don't get off the farm much, but "westerns" are actually American. Next time the sun sets, go outside and watch it. When it's just about down - that's where these films are made. No, not in the deserts of Arizona or the plains of Texas, silly. Hollywood sound stages and CGI Computer Rooms.:rotfl2:

Agreed. When I grow up, I want to be a Disney Imagineer. I wish I'd taken Mechanical Engineering...
Well, I'm sure Disney needs roads and bridges and stuff. And all the experience you have designing them to withstand snow and ice will come in very...oh, never mind.

Laugh it up, fuzzball. Next, I'll reveal that I'm actually a Philadelphia Eagles fan.
Well, the first step to recovery is admitting you have a problem. :rotfl2:

How about 7 different nights at 7 different DVC resorts? Now THAT would be an awesome trip report. :woohoo:
Hmmm...:scratchin
Now you've got me thinking...

That's gonna be the most boring GPS report of all time. Although I can imagine you sitting at your desk saying, "He's going to McDonald's AGAIN? How many quarter pounders can one guy eat? Is there any blood left in his veins, or is it all bacon grease?"

Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope

WRONG!!!!

"Laugh it up, fuzzball."

The Empire Strikes Back!

trennr is correct!

+1 :darth:

True, but James Earl Jones does it with more melodrama, which Glenn has pointed out in the past. Here's proof:

This is true. I'm still don't know enough about afwdwfan's Super Troopers reference to know if he gets a point or not. I'll work on confirming that one. You might both end up with a point here.

Also I have to add the love of Disney Theming (themeing?). We have had the good fortune to stay at POFQ, Poly and WL and loved all three because of the way Disney transports you to the time/place they are trying to represent.

I like "theming over "themeing". It just looks better to me. Which means I'm probably wrong.

I'm totally with you about AKL. Would love to try that out someday. You almost have to pony up the extra dough for the savannah view, though, don't you?

Well, I'm sure Disney needs roads and bridges and stuff. And all the experience you have designing them to withstand snow and ice will come in very...oh, never mind.

I have actually checked the Disney jobs website in the past, just to see if they need civil engineers for anything. I still do, actually. Not that I don't love my current job or anything. *cough*

Well, the first step to recovery is admitting you have a problem. :rotfl2:

As I said before, you have to become an Eagles fan at an early age, before you realize you have a choice or learn about their history.

Hmmm...:scratchin
Now you've got me thinking...

Do it! Do it!

Do not be alarmed if you experience light flashes while taking Beverly as it is most likely friends or family taking pictures of your reaction for blackmail or Dis board trip reports.

Oh, come on. I can't believe anyone would stoop to cheap laughs like that.

Monsters, Inc.

Seriously, I need points.

Yes, you do. I'll throw you a bone:

+1 :thumbsup2

Oh, I thought they were filmed in Mexico. Oh wait, that was New Mexico... :rotfl2:
Actually when I was in college I took a really interesting class for a history elective. It was called History of Native Americans in the Cinema. We had a 3 hour class one day a week, watched a western and wrote a page about it to turn in the next week. I wish all my classes would have been that easy.

I swear to God I'm gonna pistol whip the next guy who says shenanigans!
(from Super Troopers FYI)

Middlepat has a valid point though, I forgot about that one... another good find. That restaurant is actually referenced in Super Troopers as well during the shenanigans exchange. True, it isn't a great movie and has very crude humor, but I was in college when it came out and was just one of the many stupid movies we watched repeatedly and I can now quote by memory even though I haven't seen it in probably 5 or 6 years. :rolleyes1

SuperTroopers Shenanigans reference: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KvY2CAnEd-o
(Funny movie, by the way. But put the kids to bed before you watch it)

I know there were two restaurants mentioned in Office Space. I can't recall the second one, but I believe the one where Jennifer Aniston works was Chotchkie's.

I stand corrected. (actually, I'm currently sitting, but you get the picture)
It was Chotchkie's in Office Space, but the restuarant reference in Super Troopers was what I was thinking of. Both great films but not so much for the young-uns.

As for not watching Super Troopers in 5-6 years, i reckon we might need to remedy that situation.

Yeah, Barry was right. I thought I remembered Shenanigans from somewhere else, but when I searched for it all I could find is that it was used as the restaurant for the movie Waiting.

Staying with the Super Troopers reference and tying it into the contest...
Beverly: Because you cant buy a liter o' cola or a large farva.

Nice job, Barry. The confirmation means afwdwfan is hereby awarded 1 point. You can decide if you want to share it with Barry or not.

+1 :thumbsup2

I checked on Office Space and the restaurant is indeed Chotchkie's. The others mentioned as alternatives are Chili's and Flinger's. Just in case you were wondering.

Yeah, that's kind of a cheap point anyway. Not really in the western theme, I'll give him half my point.:thumbsup2

Thanks! :woohoo:

Mark - if a point is worth nothing, how can you cut nothing in half? Won't that open some kind of tear in the fabric of space and time? I'll accept the half a point, but only if you can promise that dividing it will not erase the universe as we know it. I mean, I've got enough stuff to explain to St. Peter at the gates of heaven - I don't want to add "was responsible for destroying mankind" to that list.

Actually, I think we're safe. Zero divided by 2 still equals zero, and is a fundamentally sound equation according to math experts. But we can never, ever divide by zero. Only Chuck Norris can do that. So please be careful with your points, and don't ever try to divide anything with them. Frankly, we don't know what the consequences might be.
