A useless fluff poll: Butter or Margarin?

Butter or Margarin?

  • Butter

  • Margarin in sticks

  • Margarin in a tub

  • Who needs it?

Its usually the tub all the way, except for bagels which we all agree must have lots of butter.

We just switched to butter.

Only buy butter, even in tubs (although much smaller). I got an email (might not be true) saying margarine is one molecule away from being plastic. It went on to tell you to test it, put it outside and watch, not even fruit flies would go near it. So, we buy no margarine at all now.

I saw that, too. And a couple days later, my man Alton Brown was talking about butter vs margarine. Sealed the deal for me.

Land o Lakes Spreadable Butter now reigns supreme in my house
(although, it's not really quite as spreadable as the commercials say!)

On toast, or toasted cheese sandwiches,, 'I Can't Believe it's Not Butter',, which is yummmmmmmmmmm

but if I am cooking, baking, (a once a year occurance), it's gotta be proper butter, preferably 'land o lakes' :)

Fat is Fat. 9 calories per gram. I prefer it to taste good.

Butter. My mom used to have to hide the sticks when I was little, I loved to eat it by itself.

For every day use and making certain side dishes, I will use I Can't Believe It's Not Butter in a tub. For *baking* it is butter all the way.

I was raised on margarine and used to prefer it. After 18 months on Atkins, all we have at our house is butter. I like it pretty well, now :)

I love both, but since I'm putting DH on SB diet, I have to go butter.

Atkins allows BUTTAH... which by the way is my family's nickname for me... UGH!

They're both bad for you, so why not use the better tasting one? (IMO) I like unsalted butter on everything...Margarine is too salty.

Poohgirl71, my kids love to eat butter by itself, too!!
