A Typo?? $.93 a night and 1.13?

It's human nature to get a deal...who SAID at the time it was booked that it wasnt one?

Of course I saw it was an error. Human nature. I guess some can't rise above this base human nature.

Really? How did you see that? You assumed you mean right? There was no way for you to know for sure.

I too would have taken advantage of this offer, heck, I tried early this morning but was too late. For those that got in I truly hope your reservations get honored.

All this stuff about "what goes around, comes around", PLEASE... Karma and blah blah blah.... YES, while I do believe in Karma you also have to think about what is best for your family, if financially you can wing a trip or extra trip for some, then so be it!!!!

I think Corporate America will survive! How many times have you driven up to a hotel with no reservations and PAID full RATE!!! I have, knowing fair well that had I called 2-3 days before I would have gotten a better rate.

For those of you that got confirmation #'s don't let anyone make you feel like you are "cheating" or doing anything illegal.

I've been to the supermarket where something gets marked up MORE than what the sale price says and they give you the product for free b/c the computer made a mistake... Although I know a free supermarket product is not the same as say 100's of people getting a cheap cheap rate..... Computer error/human error..... It happens and if that person is in charge of putting the rates up on the internet... I highly doubt it's a young kid/low on the totem pole employee.... I don't think that person will be fired.....

Just my 2 cents.

Pixie dust to you that have confirmation #'s!!!!

No matter how you rationalize this it is dishonest and cheating. Your children will learn by your example. It appears the people who are taking advantage of this do not have a conscience. :sad2:

If you dont like that people booked at this rate, why do you continue to read the on going thread about it??? If you dont like it, LOOK THE OTHER WAY. Do you honestly think you are gaining something by reprimanding the people that were able to book at the "glitched" rate?

I feel no guilt about making my reservation using the $1.13 rate. They've made money off me in the past & if they honor the rate, they are showing me that they are a stand up company & will continue to make money off me in the future. Major companies would rather keep a customer than loose a customer over a few bucks (which is what this really dwindles down to)

I certainly haven't heard anyone from Holiday Inn come out and call the people who took advantage of their mistake "cheats" or "dishonest"..this is what I mean by saying that you cannot apply your own moral compass to every situation...certainly in matters of business.

Just because you feel it is wrong to take advantage of a companies mistake does not mean that it is actually wrong or that those people are a "poor example" for their children.

People had a good deal on the table and they took it...bottom line...mistake or not...If they had not honored it, most people would have probably had said, "Oh well" and went on with their day....The fact that Holiday Inn is even considering honoring these rates is an indication that people were within their rights to accept such a deal...

Its not like people were lying or otherwise trying to deceive the hotel. They accepted the offer that was on the table.

no i am not a rep at a holiday inn. i am a mom of 4 children ranging from 5 to 17 and a registered nurse. i'm done on this subject. you guys are a sorry lot of parents.

Wow, just found this thread! I'm interested to find out if they honor the booked rates of .98 and 1.13.

Just figured I'd let you in on the legal stuff in NY. They do not have to honor a rate if it is a mistake. Of course, good business would dictate to honor it for the people who got it or offer some other restitution if they do not. But, legally they don't have to.

Best of luck to those of you who got it - hope it all works out. If I had seen this earlier I would've booked it and just taken another little trip!

I feel that in more ways than not we get scr**ed all over town on our vacations, at the gas pumps, grocery stores, etc. When a deal comes along you better bet your hiney I'm jumping on it and keeping my fingers crossed! And I KNOW I'm a good mom! We're talking about big business here (millionaires) not the homeless or impoverished!

Please let us know what happens!

I admit, I was thinking the same exact thing! :rolleyes1

Now you all just have to hope and pray that we do not have the Hurricane season this year that we did last year! ;)

Unfortunately, the weathermen are predicting that we will be in for another rough season again. :earseek:
I just got my lanaii replaced, finally got the 2 palm tree stumps removed, and the fence reinstalled on one of our rental homes too. sigh.

Wow. Just wait till she sees these rooms being sold on ebay so people can get better rooms on site AND pay for their passes on Holiday Inn's dollar! :rotfl2:

Sorry. Didn't mean to stir the pot. I'll go back to my little world now. :rolleyes1

How does a computer glitch for a hotel have anything to do with being a good parent? With that attitude I can only imagine what HER kids are learning!

Watch the Today Show tomorrow (5-5-05) at 7:30 EST for a clip on this very topic.

I'm sad to see this thread get ugly.

LMAO - whats wrong with booking at a hotel that had hurricaine damage, is doing refurbishments & will reopen in July 2005????

I really believe this was a planned refurbishment. They announced it BEFORE the hurricane. Holiday Inn bought the hotel from Mariott..and it needed to be refurbished.

It appears I am preaching to the crowd without any ethics.

You are making a LOT of assumptions. This has given them tons and tons of publicity. What makes you think that they don't have just so many rooms set up for this, and planned on the advertising? And if not, now that it happened, they decided to go with the flow to reap the benefits.
on a hard test when teens that are not good students ace the test because they cheat.
As I said above, you are making a LOT of assumptions. So, everyone but your son (or at least the kids that you know are bad students..and do you get to see their report cards to know they are bad students, or are you assuming?) cheats on their tests. Your son just gets an average grade and the "cheaters" get good grades. And you know this, yet none of the teachers do. I'd like to give our teachers a little more credit than that. None of the students actually just do well because they are smart, and manage to ace it because of they know the material. Did you ever think that maybe your son is telling you that, so you won't come down hard on him, for not doing well?

This type of stuff happens often. A smart company will go with it, and write it off as advertising. We all now know just where this hotel is located, as do all my neighbors. This isn't the first time this type of thing has happened..and won't be the last.

Congrats to those of you who were able to get those great prices.

looks like they will be honoring the rate. I was just given permission by Pam to post this message from another Internet discussion group Pam and I belong to.

this by Pam:

I just wanted to let you all know that I am going to be on the NBC
Today show tomorrow at 7:30 a.m. eastern time...Anyhoo, after being
told by Holiday Inn that they will not honor our rates, I called my
local news station...They came out, interviewed me, called all
different Holiday Inn numbers and are going to feature me as their
lead news story tonight at 6...

Their nation news affilite got a hold of me and are putting me on the
Today show tomorrow about this...They are going to try to get them to
honor all the reservations that were made at this rate so DONT CANCEL
YOUR RESSIES...

I'll let you know more tomorrow when I find out more

Pam in Cincinnati

later she updates:

I called my local news stationand involved them...They in turn put it on the ticker and all hell broke loose at my house...

My phone has not stopped ringing, I am being asked to be exclusive with certain tv programs, etc...I was not out to make a buck but save one...

I was thanked, yes thanked, by the head honcho of Holiday Inn for giving them International Publicity worth Millions of dollars for them giving us our
rooms...

They made out better than we did...So to all you people telling me and the
others who booked that we took advantage of an error, shame on you...

Also another note, the person who made the type-o WILL NOT be canned...I was told that....

So I am ecstatic for me and everyone else who got this wonderful deal...Everyone else who missed out should be glad too and hope maybe someday their good fortune will come...

Well,

Here's my update 4 anyone who is interested. I spoke w/Mark Barrett in Guest Relations earlier this morning. He said that we have "loaded" reservations....they (HI) realize this was an error, but as of now, all confirmed ressie will be honored. He did tell me that this IS subject to change, but Guest Relations is weorking to have them honored....

I do have a confirmation, so I'm hoping for the best....

to Pam: Thank you!!!!!

Will the sory on this be aired tomorrow on Today? or was it today? if it was today (Wed) did anyone see it?

I'm sorry but this is just like cheating at school.
What type of people are we talking about that take advantage of OBVIOUS mistakes like this? The type that will keep the incorrect change but yell loudly if a mistake if made to them?
Of course it is an error. Lets not get the person fired who made the mistake. That person can be a mom or dad just like us supporting a family.

I have 2 things to say. You get what you pay for and what goes around comes around.

This is wrong! If I saw it I would have called and pointed it out so they could fix their mistake. Maybe I am the only one that wants to do the right thing!

Booo HOOO HOOOO.........Its the Disney Morality Police with another lesson on rights and wrongs, spare me the sermon. I got a room for a week for under 10 bucks!!!
