A Two Short, Too Different Spring Break Trip (Time to Say Goodbye)

***********************************

Duty calls, so I have to go to a workshop today. I'm sure it will be thrilling. :upsidedow It's about a new and improved way to educate, I'm sure. For the last fifteen years they have rolled out new and improved versions and put hundreds and thousands of dollars into books, training, and supplies. I can't say that any of them have worked yet. Sadly, for the most part, kids just don't care, at least in our system. There's just an overall air of apathy and doing just enough to get by. I hope changing grades gives me a fresher look on things. Maybe without the TCAP stress, I can focus more on teaching and enjoy the students more and less on 'hurry up and finish and let's get on to the next tested skill'.You know I agree with this. It is such a shame, but the apple doesn't fall far from the tree. Most apethetic kids have apethetic parents. I just wish that political correctness would die and old-fashioned accountability would be resurrected and people would stop blaming the school system for what is wrong. It all starts at home. And to use a very southern saying........... you just can't get blood from a turnip!!:lmao: Good luck on that grade change!

I will make a few Disney dollars, today, so that's an incentive. :thumbsup2

To start my day out right, I have to stay in Fantasyland for another few minutes.

And the last one for this morning, a pretty dress that changes colors.

Stitch is sitting on the counter looking rather bored with all the dresses and jewelry surrounding him. I'm sure he would much rather be in another kind of store.
Preferably something with some guy stuff! :stitch2:

OK, looking at these pictures, I just realized that having a 4-year-old at Disney caused me to overlook MANY things that were right in front of my face (you know you can't take your eyes off of them and tend to spend most of your time looking down at them instead of up and around at the surroundings;)) We spent a good bit of time in that store and I never saw the giant, the dress, the beanstalk...........nothing!:lmao: I guess I'm going to have to get a leash for my DD so I can start noticing some of this great stuff!:rotfl:

An empty Dumbo for Brooklynn.:sad1: I love the Pooh pictures, he's my favorite. When I look at your pictures I sometimes wonder if we are going to the same place. I see things in your pictures I have never noticed before. Thanks for sharing them. I hope your day goes quickly so that you can go see your girls.

I was thinking the same thing, I've never noticed the giant coming through the ceiling in the store - I'm gonna look for that on my next visit!

I never even noticed that store! I would have loved to see the color changing dress. Hope your workshop is productive.

Glad you like the pictures. We are doing well.
Are you all settled in your new place?

We are slowly getting there. I am planning on getting a lot done this 3-day weekend (we were out of town last weekend). I am also anxiously awaiting my ADR date and the November hours:cool1:

Is that shop by the snow White attraction? What's its name?
Like others have said, I love your pictures, especially for learning new things like the giant, the dress that changes colors.....:lovestruc
Although I think I saw the giant picture before in one of punkins' reports:goodvibes

MeMom I just saw this and thought how cool it would be for your Disney parties.

Sorry that was slightly off-topic. Are your pictures from 2 different stores? Tinkerbelles treasures and the one between the castle and snow white right? Never can remember its name either but often times I find stuff in there I cant find elsewhere in the park. Hope you are having a good day.

I need to find that shop on our next trip (in February!!! ) -- I want to see the dress and the giant!

Yep. Sir Mickey's and whatever the new name for Tinkerbell's treasures is.

That would be awesome to have! Did you read the warning though?

I love, love, love Sir Mickey's!!! Its so neat in there!:thumbsup2

Looking at all those cute princess dresses makes me wish that Chelsea still wore them. :( I remember one year when she was about three, she was Cinderella for Halloween and wore that dress whenever she could for the next year.

Have fun at the workshop -- making Disney dollars is always a good incentive! :thumbsup2

I bet she was just a little doll baby in her Cinderella dress. You should show us a picture of her in it. After Brooklynn was given that Belle dress, I think she wore it almost daily for months!

After we got to the workshop yesterday, I realized we weren't getting paid for it, but rather we are getting a swap day for it in October. So, no Disney money, but it's good for time off in the fall.

OOH....have a good day at your conference! Right as soon as work got out for us I was at an ESOL conference for 4 days....I was glad when it was over! YAY for heading to Alabama!!
Awww...I really like that overworked Mickey Clock that would be so cute on my desk at work. I will have to keep an eye out for it when I'm down there this fall.

Awww after Belle's I think I really do love Snow White's princess dress the best for little girls!!!

We always have to evaluate workshops, and most often we want to tell the truth, but we never do. ;)

Definitely YAY for going to Alabama! :cheer2:

You may be sorry! If you don't see it, you don't spend money on it.

Great pictures this morning, MeMom! Have fun at your conference! :goodvibes

What a funny joke you tell, LL! :rotfl:

I do the same thing with others. I know that I was standing in the same place, but their pictures show things I never saw.

I'm leaving in about an hour or so!

I was thinking the same thing, I've never noticed the giant coming through the ceiling in the store - I'm gonna look for that on my next visit!

I just love those awesome Disney touches like the giant peeking through the top. So cool!

I never even noticed that store! I would have loved to see the color changing dress. Hope your workshop is productive.

The giant is in one store and the dress is in another. You'll have to check them both out!

Good.

What ADR's are you planning to make? Let us know what you end up getting.

I've put the giant picture on another report of ours, and I've seen it on a couple of others, probably Dawn's. I spend a lot of time looking way up and way down in shops, and I look at things like mirrors, shelves, benches, etc., because they are so often themed, too.

Isn't that the neatest thing? I'd love to have that, but the warning label kind of makes me hesitant, too.

Yes about the stores. I think Jill covered that one.

It's great to hear that you have a new trip on the horizon!

That would be awesome to have! Did you read the warning though?

That's what I saw, too, but that's too bad. How cool would that be to have and have all the cousins over for a grill-out and a movie?

I love, love, love Sir Mickey's!!! Its so neat in there!:thumbsup2

Yep, and in just a few short weeks, we'll be able to shop there again!

Yeah weird huh? I see that on a lot of items from the disney store. The waffle maker they sold a while ago had it too.

I'll have to do some more reading about the warnings. I know the chances are slim of any problems, but I'm going to do some further research. I wonder if it's made of the same stuff as the blow-up screens that they use on Disney property. You'd think they'd have to be somewhat the same anyway.

******************************

On my way south for today and tomorrow. Have a good one!

She was a cutie -- I'll see if I can find a picture to share! :goodvibes

That's too bad about the workshop -- perhaps, now you can plan an October trip with that extra day? :scratchin

Have fun in 'Bama today!

My guess is lead. Lots of electrical cords have stickers on them warning that they contain lead and advise you to wash your hands after use. As long as your kids (or you  if you are concerned about birth defects) aren't sucking on them or anything, I suspect the risk is pretty low.

I googled and found that it is due to California Proposition 65, which states,
"California Proposition 65 requires product labeling for products containing certain chemicals known to the State of California to cause cancer, birth defects or other reproductive harm if the product will expose the consumer to such chemicals."

And also that "It has to be updated at least once a year and grown to include approximately 775 chemicals since 1987."

So pretty much what kschafer said is true. Don't eat the blow up screen and you will be ok.:rotfl:

Hey MeMom and Jill! I'm home! It was so good to meet you guys! I can't wait to tell you all about our trip. I'll be starting a TR hopefully tomorrow.

all this talk of mr. incredible in his beads makes me think of my boss, michelle's, husband, mike. this is them at our christmas dinner for work last year. he is a cop and he's a REALLY big guy (big as in muscle, not fat) and he reminds me of mr. incredible. i think he looks just like him! they're going to disney in december (i'm helping her plan her trip) and i told him where he could meet his long lost brother at DHS. :rotfl:

Picture006-5.jpg

the pink one in the middle is one that i bought for margot when i was there in december.

I ended up buying this for Brooklynn.
