A Two Short, Too Different Spring Break Trip (Time to Say Goodbye)

I brought up the subject of a Mother's day trip to my DMom and she just smiled...laughed and said "I'll leave it up to you to decide." So I have some thinking to do. She did remind me it will be hard to give up Free dinning. :upsidedow

I want one of those Mickey gnomes too! My DMom has two gnome houses she made out of tree stumps in our yard. I've told her she needs to replace her regular gnomes with Mickey. He's so cute, can you blame me?

The palms are so enchanting, I just love them.

jillyb your DD's bday cake was so amazing! How cool to have a castle cake! :thumbsup2:thumbsup2
My DD has the AK tree, she played with it forever. She got it in 2004. I thought it was neat how some of the animal carvings on the trunk came off.

punkin & xoktenox thanks for your wonderful and encouraging comments. I have the nicest 'DIS' friends a girl could ask for.

My parents also took me out of school many years to go on vacations. We would usually go when March Break was but I took an extra week or two. I have the fondest memories of those trips with my parents. Even the long..."are we there yet" drives down. That's where my love of Disney stems from. Since my fathers passing, I treasure those times so much. The laughs and fun times I will never forget. I count those trips as true blessings. I am so happy to create those memories for my kids. I can only hope one day my kids will return with thier kids and the memories will continue.

We all have to remember life is short and we sometimes need to just do it! My older brother passed away before he could take his kids to Disney. He kept saying we will go, we have lots of time. And the cost wasn't a problem for him either. Sadly, he was diagnosed one day with terminal cancer and passed months later. He never got to take his boys. I guess that has a little bit to do with why I try so hard to go on these vacations.

I agree that most kids can be away and still keep up with thier work. My DS isn't the 'best' student but he will do what's expected of him. My DD is a better student and I have her principal's blessing. I plan to have her make a journal of her trip with an Epcot passport of the different countries. I think it can be educational at the same time be fun. ;)

Glad to have BrooklynsMommy home. I'm sure it will be an early night for the whole family. Can't wait to see the pics! :goodvibes

Love the pictures from Epcot. I especially like the tea cups with the herbs in them. I love planting/growing herbs in my flower beds and/or pots. Mint, rosemary and lemon thyme are my favs. There's a chocolate mint that smells heavenly!

MeMom, if you don't mind, I'd like to share some pictures from Hannah's birthday. She turned 7 on Friday and we had her party yesterday. I was slap worn out by the time we got home but a good time was had by all.

First thing she said when she opened this was "Mickey Mouse!" LOL She started bugging me to open this before I could even get my coffee started. I thought I'd never get it out of the box!

Thanks for sharing your pictures. We love seeing our DIS friends and their families in everyday life!

I'm glad she was able to have such a nice birthday.
What fun you guys can have playing with her toys!

More great shots, you are really moving fast on this TR now! :rotfl2:

Great pictures of Morocco, I really like the proverb. I need to copy that down. :goodvibes

I'm trying to move on. We decided on the title for the new trip report today, and we've got something special to share next week, so I need to get on through this one. I do enjoy seeing the pictures again, because I can still feel like I'm standing right under the shade of a certain tree or I can remember what happened while we were standing in line fora particular ride, etc.

probably not. by the time we make it back there in april/may who knows how old he/she will be. we're going in december 2010 when i'm guessing i will still have an infant. then i'm thinking our next trip may be in late september/october so we can go to MNSSHP and the food and wine festival. who knows what the future holds!??!!?

erica and i enjoyed this act while having lunch next to the window at chefs de france. such great memories!

i want one of these so bad!

i think this is why i love it. i think it's so pretty!

coincidence? i think not! the cookie monster will be her next obsession.

I remember your pictures of that and the discovering of the guy in the audience.

Cookie Monster brings back memories of watching many episodes of Sesame Street with my sweet little girl many years ago.

I'm so glad to hear Brooklynn did well at the wedding. She's a good girl so I'm not surprised! I can't wait to see pictures when Jill gets home and a little rested. I'm sure Brooklynn and Bella are sleeping beauties right now after such a busy week!

They stopped by here to pick up Ben and eat. Brooklynn was in a happy mood. Bella was elated to be out of her car seat! Jill showed me great pictures of the wedding and the zoos.

I hope there is Brooklynn video taken at that wedding!

Yep, there is video, too. :thumbsup2

The woman in blue seems to be telling you - "I told you no more pictures!"

She's talking to the wrong person then!

Yeah, don't give up that free dining ever! I wish they did that in July!!!
We'll cross paths eventually. One day we're gonna have a big old huge Dis meet, too!

I'm sorry that your brother's kids will not have Disney memories, but I'm sure they other good memories. My dad died just a few months into age 50, so I have long been aware of doing things while there is the opportunity. Our Disney trips are my one splurge, and even though I know it is a big one, the trips are worth more than the money I put into them.

I hope they all get a good night's sleep, and then Jill has to get Bella to the doctor in the morning to have this sore lanced. It's horrid looking, poor baby!

MeMom, if we're not at the hippo when you guys are...look for us around the mall when you are walking around!

English teas.

Mickey gnomes.

I think one of these would fit in my garden perfectly.

Hey! The headless child riding the camel is gone finally!!!!!! :rotfl2: That thing was so weird!

old Genie boy!

Oooooh

Memom,

Thanks again for the pictures. They brighten up a Monday morning. I love that sand sculpture, it is amazing. Your pictures of Morocco are very good as well. That tile is very pretty.

I hope all goes well for little Bella at the doctors. It must be bothering her, poor sweet baby.

I send a hug to BrooklynnsMommy for having to deal with it. No Mom likes to take thier kid to the doctor.

I know we will meet one day, until then I will be happy to hang out here!

I can't wait to find out the surprize.....:goodvibes

Jill had wanted a gnome for her house from when we saw them last spring break. I briefly thought about surprising her with one, but this was a super budget trip, so I didn't. Maybe next year.

Morocco is full of things to photograph.

Somebody on the boards got or was getting some of that tile to use as the backplash in their kitchen, but I can't remember who it was.

Last year, we saw the sand sculpture just being started, so it was then fun to see the finished product in the reports of those who went later than we did.

Jill said Bella screamed her little bitty head off, poor baby. She said the doctor squeezed all kind of gunk out of it, and I believe it, because it was pretty big on that little skinny arm.

I imagine we'll all have all kinds of good Dis meets in the future. I'm still working on declansdad and pooksma to move one of their trips up a few weeks sometime in the future, but I can't blame anyone for wanting to avoid the crowds, get free dining, etc.

In Japan, we saw the evidence of repair work being done.

A little American history.

I need to do a much better job of focusing on the cards so you can what all of this really is.

A little American singing.

disney3-18-09AKEpcot334.jpg

They warned us that if we sat where we were sitting, we would only see the backsides of the singers. We were happy to have gotten a seat, so we dealt with it.

Mickey balloons are such happy balloons,

except for when they are enclosed in a bubble!

disney3-18-09AKEpcot336.jpg

I wanted to free Mickey, but I restrained myself.

To tell you how claustrophobic I am, it really does bother me to look at that balloon picture. How in the world is that balloon supposed to breathe all closed inside that other balloon?!?!?

After the singing, we made our way to Germany.

Just a couple of pictures here. I was trying to be conservative with my batteries, since I had left my charger at home and was having to purchase new ones often.

Later today or maybe tomorrow - Mexico.

I love all the pictures.
Poor Bella and I am looking forward to seeing pictures of Brooklynn.
I am looking forward to the surprise and to hearing the new title of your upcoming trip.

Thanks for the trip around the world today Memom. I needed a little Disney pick me up!

I miss the viking ship!

Hey guys! I am back at home just now checking after having internet withdrawal since last Wednesday at lunch. I will check in later tonight with pictures and video from our trip. Four nights away from home, 3 different zoos (Louisville, Columbus and Cincinnati), 2 hotels and 1 wedding. And as the trip progressed Bella's arm got progressively worse. We took her to the doctor this morning and they squeezed her little arm to try and pop it without the use of a needle. They didn't think they had gotten it so they started swabbing with alcohol in preparation to use the needle and then it started oozing. Poor Bella screamed her head off and the doctor had to stop for a few minutes so that she could catch her breathe since she was screaming so hard you couldn't hear a sound. They have sent a culture to the lab and we will have results when we take her back on Thursday morning. She is on antibiotics for now and has a swollen bruised arm that has a hole in it. Hopefully whatever it was or is will be easily treated.

MeMom, love the other WS pictures! I can't believe how claustrophobic you are! Jeez that must be a pain sometimes :guilty: :headache:

Jill, I hope everything is alright with Bella. That poor little munchkin shouldn't have to go through that!

Oh dear, how did I fall so far behind?

LOVE the flower umbrellas!!!
I think the tea plants in the giant cups are such a great idea!
I also love the mickey gnome, I hope they have them again next year for F&G

I missed something...what happened to Bellas arm? It does not sound good but hopefully not something serious!

And...there is a surprise? A secret? HUH?

I vow to not fall this behind again!

I loved seeing your Flower & Garden Festival photos. We were supposed to go to WDW in May, but unfortunately had to cancel. (Well, postpone since we now have a trip booked for late September.) One day I will visit in the spring and see all of those cool topiaries! I also enjoyed your World Showcase photos. We never seem to spend enough time there!

Sorry to to hear about poor little Bella. That sore sounds awful! I hope she heals quickly!

Jill...hope everything goes well for Bella and that it is a minor thing!
saw some pics on facebook of brooklyn this weekend...she looks too darn cute! Hope the rain missed you sat! Sorry this was a busy weekend for all of us or else I would have loved to meet up with you....and to top it all off it was a horrible bacholerette party...but luckily the bacholorette did not notice! ;) Caleb also went to the zoo fri (Toledo Zoo) for the first time. His aunt stephy bravely took him and his 3 cousins (her three) by herself! And he made her carry him all day as he would not sit in the double stroller...no idea why he wouldnt!

Memom...now I am curious about the suprise!

Jill, so sorry to hear about Bella's ordeal today!

MeMom, what is this surprise that everyone is talking about??? I am so confused; I feel like Pooh Bear.
