I brought up the subject of a Mother's day trip to my DMom and she just smiled...laughed and said "I'll leave it up to you to decide." So I have some thinking to do. She did remind me it will be hard to give up Free dinning.
I want one of those Mickey gnomes too! My DMom has two gnome houses she made out of tree stumps in our yard. I've told her she needs to replace her regular gnomes with Mickey. He's so cute, can you blame me?
The palms are so enchanting, I just love them.
jillyb your DD's bday cake was so amazing! How cool to have a castle cake!

My DD has the AK tree, she played with it forever. She got it in 2004. I thought it was neat how some of the animal carvings on the trunk came off.
punkin & xoktenox thanks for your wonderful and encouraging comments. I have the nicest 'DIS' friends a girl could ask for.
My parents also took me out of school many years to go on vacations. We would usually go when March Break was but I took an extra week or two. I have the fondest memories of those trips with my parents. Even the long..."are we there yet" drives down. That's where my love of Disney stems from. Since my fathers passing, I treasure those times so much. The laughs and fun times I will never forget. I count those trips as true blessings. I am so happy to create those memories for my kids. I can only hope one day my kids will return with thier kids and the memories will continue.
We all have to remember life is short and we sometimes need to just do it! My older brother passed away before he could take his kids to Disney. He kept saying we will go, we have lots of time. And the cost wasn't a problem for him either. Sadly, he was diagnosed one day with terminal cancer and passed months later. He never got to take his boys. I guess that has a little bit to do with why I try so hard to go on these vacations.
I agree that most kids can be away and still keep up with thier work. My DS isn't the 'best' student but he will do what's expected of him. My DD is a better student and I have her principal's blessing. I plan to have her make a journal of her trip with an Epcot passport of the different countries. I think it can be educational at the same time be fun.
Glad to have BrooklynsMommy home. I'm sure it will be an early night for the whole family. Can't wait to see the pics!
