A Two Short, Too Different Spring Break Trip (Time to Say Goodbye)

could you just come along on our next trips and by my photographer?

Don't tease me like that!!!
Wouldn't that be a dream job, to follow people around Disney World taking pictures?!?!?

Those flower sculptures are gorgeous! I swear, every time you put up pics from a new trip I change when I next want to go to Disney!

You need to experience Disney World during every season and special event in the years ahead. Each thing they do is so neat, and pictures don't really do it justice. You have to be in the midst of it to really understand how neat everything is.

Whew! I was worried we would be left out of more pics. I love the nature facts. Who knew?

I'm going to send you a PM re your previous post to us.;)

I thought they were interesting, and my students always like hearing facts about animals. I would love to be able to take my kids (students) to Animal Kingdom and Epcot to learn about animals and other countries. They would go nuts!

The flower pictures were wonderful. Seeing the pictures was a great way to start a busy Saturday morning. It reminded me to stop and smell the roses.

Disney World has so many beautiful flowers. I'll be taking more of those next month.

Wonderful pictures! It saddens me that I never made it over to that area. :sad2:

There is just so much to Disney World. You have to have a long, long trip or lots of trips to get it all in. Even with ten days for us, we won't be able to do it all. I think in 14-16 days, we might be able to do everything we wanted to. We might have to try for at least twelve days next summer and see what difference that makes.

wow....you are just moving right along, huh? i've been reading along but haven't had time to say much. life's been crazy! but that's a good thing i guess. ;)

love the flower pics at epcot. so pretty! makes me kind of sad because i've been there for the festival the last two years. i'm sure i'll see it again one day! thanks for sharing the pictures.

Jill tells me I have to 'get a move on' so we can start the next trip!

You'll see it with your sweet little baby, and the roses will be prettier than ever!

Oh...your pics make me want to go even more so during the Flower and Garden Festival! So pretty.

That sand sculpture is amazing.

You need to go during F&G. It is very pretty.

Beautiful pics MeMom! That sandcastle was incredible!

It's interesting to see the artists work on those elaborate sand sculptures, too.

the F&G festival is sooo beautiful. I love looking at all the pictures you took there MeMom. They're wayyy better than mine! LOL what kind of camera do you have?

Canon S5IS. I snap a lot and get lucky with a few.
If Drew goes in July, he'll be taking his even nicer camera, and Jill has a new one that she likes a lot, too, so we should get a lot of decent pictures between us all.

The F&G pics are so pretty! I could wander around and look at the topiaries all day.
I didn't know they have a sand sculpture too. Very neat!

I am now thinking seriously about a trip in April/May. ;)

Glad you found some 'disigns' you liked. :)

Have a great weekend!

You need to see F&G for yourself. The pictures aren't nearly as good as the real things.

We've been tossing around the idea of Mother's Day next year. Can you make a trip then?

Continuing on through Epcot.

We would see Davy Jones in concert later on in the day.

I suggested we see the movie in France, because I think the scenery and music are both very pretty.

Something pretty in the waiting area for Impressions de France.

I took the one picture just so people who have never been could see the inside. There are seats and the temperature is cool and it's dark, so along with the soothing music, it would be a great place for a nap, feeding a baby, or just taking a break for aching legs.

MeMom,
I have a question about AP's. What is the usual discount for rooms with an AP? Is it different for each category? I am think about getting just one for myself so I can take advantage of discounts. Maybe that way, I can convince DH to go more often.
Thanks.

We have found that it is worth it for at least one person to have the AP. We have gotten discounts of $50 a night at the values, and that adds up fast! I imagine it is different amounts at each level.

With that, you can also get the Tables in Wonderland card, which pays for itself in a short time with us. Our advice would be pro on getting an AP, if you're going to at least get two trips out of it.

I'm enjoying your Epcot pics! It poured when we were there, so we didn't explore the F&G Festival as much as we would have liked.

DH has NEVER done any of the country films......I'm failing him in his Disney training.....:sad2:

Making sure I'm caught up and checking some of the 'banter' between everyone :upsidedow

I know it's controversial to take my kids out of school...so don't hate me.

Plans: Leave Friday Sept.25
Arrive Sat. afternoon and stay off site (couldn't get the extra night at Disney)
Go to DTD that night....eat at TRex
Stay at ASMusic from Sun.27-3.
We still get Free Dinning!!! I hope to get some good ADR's!
You have less than a month to start making your ADR's!!! :woohoo: And with them changing the days that means you are THAT much closer to your trip!!!! :yay:

CanadianWDW - Obviously I missed this.....I do not blame you AT ALL for taking your kiddo's out of school. I'm hoping I can do that someday too :goodvibes
Glad you didn't have to cancel and still get to go!! :thumbsup2

She could invite just girls and when they arrived we would make them change into "rags" and the games and activities would involve cleaning and then before cake and presents they would get to get dressed for the ball. It would be a ton of fun and I'm filing it away for if she wants a Cinderella party in coming years.

Ok, if we end up having kids I will TOTALLY be taking ideas from you guys!!! :wizard:

We spent a few minutes watching the dolphins.

My FAVORITE!!!!

I  this!!! Haven't seen those before....that's great :rotfl:

Will be back soon to check out the flowers!!!!! :flower3:

I was looking at Mothers Day and I could do it. It would be great to meet, I would love that!
My hesitation is that will make two weeks I take my kids out of school. I'm not comfortable doing that, as of yet.
My DS says this is his last trip....we'll see about that.....he is actually getting excitted about going in Sept. So who knows?
I guess i would have to speak to my DD's teacher and get his/her take on it.
(I already got clearance for taking her out in Sept. :))

Thanks Vandyfan for your blessings, I apreciate the well wishes. When you decide to have children, they will be lucky to have such a fun and sweet Mommy like you!

Update: I guess I never told you that we are now leaving on Thursday. Arriving on Friday and spending 2 nights at an Orlando hotel. We will just take it easy and do some sight seeing, WDW resort touring and Shopping!
I wish we were staying at Disney from the start, but there was no availability.

I see a hidden MeMom in the pic! Go CANADA!

You made me laugh at the Scooby Doo comment...:lmao: So true!

The tea cups are really neat idea. I love Twinnings tea.

Have a Super Sunday, safe travels home for BrooklynnsMommy. :grouphug:

I'm off to work.

ooo I loveee the WS :goodvibes Canada had some cool stuff in it including a hidden MeMom LOL no characters were there when we were visiting Canada though...bummer!

I really have to try and see some of the WS movies :thumbsup2

I do feel bad for all the people who had their trips during the monsoons a few weeks ago. I know people like Lady Lallie knew how to make the best of it, but those who have their once in a lifetime trip (how can anybody do Disney once in a lifetime?) during that time probably didn't get the best experience for their memories.

I love all your flower and garden and world showcase pics! Such a nice way to wake up on a Sunday morning!

An even better way would be with a stroll through Epcot to see the real thing, but I am glad you enjoyed it. I didn't take as many flower pictures as I should have, though.

We're just starting to toss around the idea, but when I mentioned marking Mother's Day off our Disney holiday list next year, Jill thought it would be a good thing to start thinking about. I guess if spent money for flights in May, we would probably need to drive in the summer. I'd like to add two days onto next summer's trip, if possible, so that would give us a full day driving down and back and still leave ten days down there.

Resort hopping will be fun! Go over to Animal Kingdom, because that's an activity in itself.

I found myself saying, "Rut - roh!" in Scooby speak when I saw the knight in shining armor! :rotfl:

KEEP CALLING THEM!!!!

I agree. I'd keep calling for an opening, and I bet it will happen.

Yeah, maybe you could see one movie a trip, and in time you will get them all. They have them in France, China, Norway, and Canada. I can't think if there are more right this second, but all of those are good, and they don't last long.

After the movie, we shopped.

old Genie boy!

disney3-18-09AKEpcot311.jpg

I might have gotten a tear or two in my eyes right there thinking of how excited Brooklynn would have been to see her big blue buddy.

It just hit me - she has two big blue buddies - old Genie boy and MichaelSulley!

Hi, MeMom and Jill! We are home! I found myself thinking of you and Brooklyn quite a few times while we were down there -- especially on Soarin' (the orange trees are still doing fine ;)), at Nemo and Friends (the seagulls are still having a hard time sharing), exploring Rafiki's Planet Watch, and while eating zebra domes (I won't reveal how many boxes we ate yet -- well, it was mainly Chelsea ate them, but it was a LOT).

Love all the Flower and Garden photos -- it was interesting to see what was left or not moved yet -- we have a photo of Chelsea in front of that very teacup, but it was completely empty. Go figure!

I just found myself just with a goofy grin... thinking this week! Love the WS pics, Hannah has us making multiple trips around the world!

:rotfl: old Genie boy. She's probably looking forward to seeing him next month!

Morocco is so beautiful. I really love those tiles and the Aladdin hats are cool LOL

I saw that you were home and just hadn't made it over this way to come out and play yet! Can't wait to read your report and relive all the fun with you!

I do the goofy grin thing, too, sometimes, when looking at other people's pictures. I do it even more when I youtube a good Disney World video.

This week! That is quite exciting! We'll be thinking of you. I'll have to check back through your TR again, but did you put up a general itinerary of where you'll be on what day? That way we can think of you guys in that actual park. It's kind of fun to picture our Dis pals there!

Morocco is so beautiful. I really love those tiles and the Aladdin hats are cool LOL

Right now young Brooklynn girl may be dreaming about old Genie boy! Jill called a few minutes ago and said they are on their way back through. Brooklynn is asleep after a whirlwind week! Jill said she did very well in the wedding. They've been to three zoos and spent time in the hotel pool aside from all the wedding stuff, so she's an exhausted little girl. I imagine Jill may be a tiny bit tired, too. She starts back to work next week, and she said she's very glad she went ahead and took this week off in anticipation of needing to recuperate from all the travel.

Love the pictures from Epcot. I especially like the tea cups with the herbs in them. I love planting/growing herbs in my flower beds and/or pots. Mint, rosemary and lemon thyme are my favs. There's a chocolate mint that smells heavenly!

MeMom, if you don't mind, I'd like to share some pictures from Hannah's birthday. She turned 7 on Friday and we had her party yesterday. I was slap worn out by the time we got home but a good time was had by all.

First thing she said when she opened this was "Mickey Mouse!" LOL She started bugging me to open this before I could even get my coffee started. I thought I'd never get it out of the box! LOL

Great pictures of Morocco, I really like the proverb. I need to copy that down. :goodvibes

You'll see it with your sweet little baby, and the roses will be prettier than ever!

probably not. by the time we make it back there in april/may who knows how old he/she will be. we're going in december 2010 when i'm guessing i will still have an infant. then i'm thinking our next trip may be in late september/october so we can go to MNSSHP and the food and wine festival. who knows what the future holds!??!!?

A little hidden fun.

canadianWDWfan - i tried to find your quote to quote you but i guess it was awhile ago. i saw what erica (vandyfan) said about pulling your kids out of school and i know it's controversial, but i fully intend on doing this if at all possible. my dad ALWAYS talked to our teachers to get approval and pulled us out of school to take vacations. we always went on trips in either may or october and as a result i remember my family vacations fondly.....not memories of everyone being in a bad mood because they were fighting crowds and dying of heat exhaustion the whole time. my dad would tell us if we made As and Bs in school then we could go. if not, no vacation for us and we'd have to stay with our grandparents while everyone else got to go. that was motivation enough for me to study hard and get the grades! none of us ever once missed a vacation either. plus i honestly think that going to disney world (especially epcot and AK) are educational experiences beyond what a lot of people expect. i know times are different now from when i was in school with not letting kids out of school for anything but if i can possibly swing it when i have a kid, i'm going to!

I'm so glad to hear Brooklynn did well at the wedding. She's a good girl so I'm not surprised! I can't wait to see pictures when Jill gets home and a little rested. I'm sure Brooklynn and Bella are sleeping beauties right now after such a busy week!

When I was a kid if we went to Florida we ALWAYS went in October. My parents would take my brother and I out of school for a week. We never had a problem not even once. We were both really good students and never missed a thing or fell behind once. My parents would always let the teachers know we were going away far in advance and if the teacher felt it necessary, she would give us some type of work to do while we were away. We went to FL when I was in 2nd, 6th and 9th grade and my brother was in kindergarten, 4th and 7th grade. If we were doing poorly in school I'm sure it would have been a different story. So as long as kids are doing well in school, I don't see why there should be a problem with them missing a little, although I know this is a controversial Dis topic! Glad you didn't have to cancel your trip canadianWDWfan!
