A Two Short, Too Different Spring Break Trip (Time to Say Goodbye)

I'm pretty sure that with Disboard adoption MeMom is now the proud Mom of about 20 and the MeMom to 15 so one more won't be that noticeable!

Well, she wanted a big family! Disboard adoption seems to be an economical way to do it!

And MeMom.... :cool1::cool1::cool1: for testing being done, right? Hope today is the a wonderful beginning to the end of the year. For the rest of you teachers administering standardized testing too!

Memom- your animal pictures are great! Have you used any of them for hanging? I also enjoyed your ornament pictures. We got the Alice one and a few more. I wish I had gotten more because they were 50% off, but I didn't.

Jill- my parents had two children and now they have 6 grandchildren, two are mine and my brother has four girls. My mom is always saying she wants more grandchildren and I tell her she should have had more kids. Two is enough for me. :rotfl:

I love pictures and you always seem to come through MeMom. ;) If you had to choose between the Little Mermaid and Beauty and the Beast shows, which would you choose? It seems that it will be hard to fit so many shows into only one day at DHS. I have both girls and a boy to please so it might be hard to do! I loved the Christmas store at DD too. So many fun ornaments. :) Your sandwich looks yummy! What was it that Kay ordered?

Thanks for the tips -- we will definitely plan on Conservation Station early and look for those Hidden Mickeys.

Oh, wow, imagine my delight to find that yet another incarnation of HSM3 is playing (not!). I am sure we will see bits and pieces of about five of those shows since I think they play them once an hour.

I love the shopping pics! I never get tired of DIS shopping with MeMom! :thumbsup2

I'll show you pictures of some cool stuff when I get to that part of the report.

I think we saw/heard parts of HSM3 three times in the time we were there. I'm sure it helps calm down the lines at the big rides for a few minutes here and there, so that's nice. I didn't see it from start to finish, but I may do that when there is more time this summer.

I never get tired of DIS shopping either! :)

So I think I am in love! I love the Peter Pan ornament.... that just might be Luke's first ornament.... who does not want to have a boy who has spirit like Peter Pan!

As long as you don't put Luke in the green tights, he can keep the PP spirit.
It is a cute ornament.

Thanks for the Little Mermaid pics! DH has never seen it, so it was nice to be able to show him some pictures of what to expect! I'm sorry you missed Brooklynn on this, but, how long until you are viewing this with her and the rest of your family?!!

I have to say again, that your merchandise/shopping pictures never fail to put a smile on my face! How did you know that they were especially needed this week?:confused3

Can't wait to hear your review of Earth! We were talking about movies to see after graduation, and I hope this will still be showing.

It'll be about another 90 something days, and it'll be much more enjoyable with all of them with me.

Doesn't window shopping always brighten a girl's day?

I don't know how long it'll be out in theaters. I hope you get to see it, but if not, surely it will make its way to home video.

ray and i actually went in there while we were waiting on chris and luke to go to the men's room as we were leaving DHS in december. there wasn't much in there!

these look familiar. :rolleyes1 you will see that i went a little ornament crazy later in our trip. what can i say - all ornaments were 50% off!!!!!

that's why i love your TRs. ;)

I think you just have to have the time to go through the stuff at Sid's. I think it's a unique little shop, so I go through there off and on just to look at a few pictures and posters. I think I have only ever bought one thing there, but I can't remember what it even was. (A poster, I think, a long time ago.)

I didn't see any half off sales, unfortunately. I'll look for good deals this summer. I'm thinking about getting Bella and Brooklynn the birthday ones and personalizing them for their tree. You would really have to be celebrating a birthday to give them, but rather they could just be reminders of their special dates.

Great update and piccies!
I am so torn between whether or not to keep reading on here - it feels like my heart breaks everytime I see something that I love and remember it'll be AGES before we get to go again!!!
I am trying to persuade my family to do a Disneyland Paris trip for my 30th in August but its not the same!!!
Can't you adopt me so I can come and visit and go with you soon??? :rotfl:
Hope everyone has a good weekend and may I say "Happy Baby Due Date" to me!

xxx

I was thinking of you early this morning, since so often it's just me, you, and CP on in the morniings. I'm glad to hear from you. By this time next week, I hope you have had the little one and are back home putting up pictures for us to see. We wish you the best in the days ahead! Let us know as soon as you can. Tell your husband not to leave your Dis friends out when he's contacting people!

Happy Baby Due date to you!:cool1: Hope your little ones arrives safe and healthy soon! Hope its an easy delivery!

Yeah, what she said. :dance3:

Did you really think so? We were in there last summer and I thought they had many cool items in there. I don't think I would buy a lot of it but I'm not really a collector.

Yeah, I bet collectors appreciate a place like that more than the average guest.

I just think the building and all of its cluttered up look is kinda cool and different, like some off-the-wall roadside shop you might see on other travels.

Voyage of the Little Mermaid is yet another thing I haven't done at HS. Of all the parks, that's probably the one I've explored the least. Probably because I can never get my DH off of ToT and RnR! (He's a thrill ride junkie!)

Your meal at Pop looked quite yummy! I really enjoyed the Pop food court when we stayed there. :thumbsup2

There's a lot more to HS than ToT and RnR, so get that man out of the air and onto the ground and go exploring. He may be less than thrilled with mermaids and beasts, but everybody ought to do it all at least once. You can compromise - he gets to pick two things and then you get to pick one. That would be a nice way to play!

He is adorable and I wish he lived at my house. I think John would protest if I bring another stuffed animal into the house.

We always get popcorn buckets. We use them for all kinds of things around the house and they remind us of our happy place for a relatively cheap price.

Happy due date! Hope the little one comes soon, healthy and happy! I'm pretty sure that with Disboard adoption MeMom is now the proud Mom of about 20 and the MeMom to 15 so one more won't be that noticeable!

I wish I had known you wanted him to come and live with you. I could have arranged for that!

I have seven popcorn buckets in my classroom right now. They're great for art supplies. It's a cheap and sneaky way to get my Disnsy touch in.

:lovestruc That is just so pretty! I need to add to my shopping list some Disney reusable bags. :thumbsup2

Yes, you need a Mickey tree one!

this was in december so maybe they had changed it up a little? i just remember thinking how i didn't see anything that great in there. but this was at night as we were leaving the park and my brain could have not been working right at that point!

When I've been in there they have had a lot of unique prints and posters, but some are kind of expensive.

And MeMom.... :cool1::cool1::cool1: for testing being done, right? Hope today is the a wonderful beginning to the end of the year. For the rest of you teachers administering standardized testing too!

Yes, she did! :) I guess DIS adoption does help. However, it might get kind of hard to go on our trips if I'm paying for the rooms and big meals for all.

Testing is OVER! :cool1:

Memom- your animal pictures are great! Have you used any of them for hanging? I also enjoyed your ornament pictures. We got the Alice one and a few more. I wish I had gotten more because they were 50% off, but I didn't.

I have some Polynesian Resort pictures that I really like in my bedroom. I have a collage picture frame of Disney flowers and greenery in my den, too. I haven't framed any animal pictures, because they don't really go with any of the decor in my house. If I ever have an African themed room, I probably will use some of them.

I wanted to be Mrs. Walton - with a bunch of kids and grandkids!
I love to watch old Waltons shows I have on tape.

I would choose Beauty and the Beast. There is more color and there are more characters. It is a longer show, too. I hope you can fit them both in, but if not, I would go for Beauty and the Beast without a doubt.

Kay ordered a flatbread, and I think it might have been a chicken flatbread.

Ok I finally finished reading it all!!!!:cool1: So now I can get involved with all the bantering back and forth:thumbsup2!!!

Memom....glad your testing is over...I think it is the same as we have here only we call it EQUA...and some other letters...lol :confused3 for kids in grade 3 8yr olds and then we have it again in grade 6 and then again in grade 9.

Hey am I going to be the first diser to see baby Isabella in person?:confused3
She will be almost 4 mths by then...

Ok 3 mths today for me ..... 3 mths tomorrow for you guys...:cool1::cool1::cool1::cool1:

We will get to celebrate yours and Natalie's birthdays again....she always tells people about the nice gifts you left her at her POP room...oh it will be Brooklynns a few weeks later too!!!

So how did testing go????????

Enjoy your movie tomorrow. We went to see it tonight with our DD (she is 5). It had the most beautiful cinematography!! But I have to say that it wasn't as good to us as it would have been if we had not seen Planet Earth. I think it even had some of the same footage in it. We were blown away when we watched Planet Earth. So I wished we had not seen that first. I also thought it was "dark" for lack of a better word. There were a few funny scenes, but there was a lot of predator stuff going on. I even got teary-eyed over the daddy polar bear. My DD covered her eyes a lot because she is such an animal lover and it upset her to see how the real animal kingdom works. And she has watched a million shows on Animal Planet that are very similar, but it still gets to her. It wasn't gory at all, but she knew what was going to happen to the animal that got caught even though the scene ended before the eating began. I was pretty depressed when it was over. But I am a MAJOR creme puff when it comes to animals. I cry when I see a Humane Society commercial. Anyway.........all that rambling is just to say that I wouldn't have taken my DD if I had seen it first by myself. But every kid is different, so your GD may be ok with it. My DD also lost interest during the parts with no action. It is a true to form documentary and that part bored her. But, DH and I loved it. The time-lapse cinematography is amazing!!!!!!!!! Enjoy the show!!:happytv:

Oh........I almost forgot..........I thought about you several times during the movie because several scenes reminded me sooooooo much of Soarin' (which is also my favorite ride at WDW!!) Let me know if you got the same Soarin' vibe!

Great! I'll put it at the top of our list. Thank you MeMom! :goodvibes

I forgot to tell you guys that I got to see my babies yesterday for a few minutes. As they were on their way to KY, they stopped by my school. We were on the playground, and about a hundred students flocked to their car. Jill said she knows what movie stars must feel like being attacked all of the time, since she saw that sea of faces surrounding her car. Ben was so funny running from side to side looking at all the kids. They stayed long enough for a few teacher friends to see Bella and Brooklynn. Brooklynn ate ice cream and played with some plastic ocean animals while Jill fed and changed Bella. Ben got a water break, and then they were off. It was good that my school was so convenient for them to stop at, and I was very happy to get to see them for a few unexpected minutes.

They'll come back through on Sunday evening on the way back home and stay a little longer. I think we might order pizza, because that's something I never do unless they're here. We'll see. I may just cook something. I'm not sure yet.

MeMom, are you doing your celebration dance now that testing is over??? I know I am!!!

Yes ma'am, I am! Here it is - :cool1:

Ok I finally finished reading it all!!!!:cool1: So now I can get involved with all the bantering back and forth:thumbsup2!!!

I'm guessing Erica might be the first Diser to see Bella, if she meets up with us next weekend. Maybe Dawn, if she's in town any weekend that Jill is here. Next guess would be tinkgurl, since we're meeting up with her at Opry Mills when her family comes through on their way to Disney World in June. After that, I think it'll be you!

Oh yeah, thanks for mentioning the bithday thing. We'll have to leave her another little surprise! What's she into these days?

:yay:I'm here...I am lurking!! Love the pics of AK, HS! :):cool1::thumbsup2

Hey there! What's new with all of your girlies?

So how did testing go????????

The testing procedure went okay. Can't say how well they did on it, though. This is the first year 3rd graders have bubbled answer sheets instead of the books. Usually I could walk around and kind of glance at what answers they were putting down as they bubbled the books, but with them transferring to the sheet, I would have had to do more than glance, and I didn't want to do that. It makes them nervous to have someone standing over them, of course.

If we make AYP, I'll be surprised. It just seems like kids just care less and less about learning every year. They are so caught up in video games and fantasy, like the Bakugan stuff. In our school, the home lives of many are less than helpful to preparing kids to learn. I've had everything from a mom chasing a dad with a knife and then turning it on herself to a child's house being broken into to a girl's dad coming into school to yell at her for not babysitting like she was supposed to (she's 8) to a drunk dad coming up at lunch time.... I could tell some stories. That's one of the reasons I appreciate this group of Dis friends so much, because we're all people who are doing our best to give our kids a good life, and that's something I don't take for granted with what I see every day.

I was thinking the same thing about the movie - that it is going to be beautiful and exciting, but also sad. I will probably have a tear or two, as well. I can't stand to see animals suffering in any way. I know that God has the animal kingdom planned just how He wants it, though, and that animals killing other animals is all a part of that.

Great! I'll put it at the top of our list. Thank you MeMom! :goodvibes

Isn't it fun to be making a Disney list?!?!?!?

*******************************

Have a good Saturday, everyone!

I'm working on cleaning out the back room again. We just seem to throw junk back there constantly, like it's a big closet. I'm throwing out some things and giving away others. Next Saturday, we're going to try again on our Disney Day party, so I've got all that stuff back there, too. What a mess!

I'll report back on the movie this evening. For those who don't want to hear about it before you see it, I'll give a warning, so you can scroll through that part.

See you later today!

Wow, that sounds like a carbon copy of my years of teaching. I saw some of the most rediculous mess during those years. One of my students threatened to stab me in the stomach with his plastic lunch knife while I was pregnant. And about half of the parents were nuts too. What a stressful time!! And my kids didn't care about learning or testing either. One year, I had about five or so students just run down the answer form and fill in anything and never read a single question. They were a low group, and I know the tests were frustrating for them, but still????????? It just makes you feel like you have wasted a year of your life when you try so hard and get nothing in return from some of them. That's why I knew I needed to be a SAHM. I didn't want to give all of my time, love and energy to other people's kids and neglect my own in the process, especially since so many of my students just didn't care. My heart breaks for the ones that have a rotten home life though. If we as a country don't get over the attitude of blaming the school systems for what's wrong and start realizing that it all begins at home, then we are going to be in a real mess. I'm really concerned about America in so many ways right now. I pray for God to have mercy on us, but I just don't know why He would.

On a lighter note............. enjoy your fun afternoon and let us know how you liked it! :cool1:

I love all the DTD merchandise pictures! Did you know on Earth Day if you went to a Disney Store you could get that tote bag for free? That Celebrate poster is so cute! I can't wait to look at them closer very very soon!

Oh well at least I will get to see her... please dont worry about a birthday surprise, once was enough:thumbsup2! It will just be cool to see you again and Natalie will LOVE seeing Brooklynn (who she can now play with) and Isabella cuz she loves babies, but dont worry I wont let her be all over her :rotfl2:

Oh........I almost forgot..........I thought about you several times during the movie because several scenes reminded me sooooooo much of Soarin' (which is also my favorite ride at WDW!!) Let me know if you got the same Soarin' vibe!

I thought the exact same thing about Soarin'!

I am just catching up on your tr. My computer crashed and I was without a computer for about a month, so I got behind on all my subscriptions. My brother gave me a perfectly good laptop that he said wasn't fast enough for him. It is only a year old! I am slowly catching up. I know this is late but I want to say congratulations on beautiful Ballarie. Children are such a blessing!!! Ok now I am off to finish reading your tr.

Happy Saturday! Testing is over...:woohoo:

It was nice of BrooklynnsMommy to stop by for some hugs. She is so thoughtful.

I had to get caught up, I have been busy.

Ursula is quite creepy with her evil yellow eyes.
Lexi has a beannie Ursula doll and I always find it hidden away, in my closet...:rotfl: (She has never liked her.)

I'm so excitted to see the "Celebration" signage and decorations.
I have a huge smile when I see the commercials with the balloons, I can't wait! :)

I need some of those cool popcorn buckets and the Fantasmic mug. Where did you get the mug? I need to make note of it.

Cute Tink bag, oh the temptation....;)
The tree bag is great.

Lexi wanted to say the dalmation pup is "Awwww, to cute". :cutie:

Nine Genie's flying.....:lmao:

I can't believe I don't own a mickey head Xmas ornament, I need to fix that.

Have a wonderful time at the movie with Trent. Enjoy the company.

I'm going to venture out into the garage to retrieve my spring/summer clothes. Wish me luck, I may never return......:rotfl2:

:ssst: I put your package together, I was waiting on a little treat to arrive at my store before I could mail it. It's now ready to go, so you should get it in a few weeks. Maybe sooner.

I can't believe that I was 10 pages behind! You have such a following of good friends. I'm glad that I didn't miss much. whew!
When I saw the picture of the manatae, I wanted to start singing the Veggie Tale song, Barbara Manatae, manatae, you are the one for me...

My dd saw that picture and she did start to sing that song.:rotfl2: Though she listens to more Veggie Tales cds then she watches the movies. She usually picks a Disney movie.

I am all caught up now. I love all the nature pictures. I grew up watching the Disney True Life series and now I check them out of library so my dd and I can watch them together. She loves animals and already tells us she is going to be and animal dr. (she is only 3). The zoo is her favorite place to visit. She asks at least once a day if we can go take a walk there.

I forgot to tell you guys that I got to see my babies yesterday for a few minutes.

What a GREAT surprise!!! :dance3:

Very sweet of Jill to do that!! :upsidedow

I'm guessing Erica might be the first Diser to see Bella, if she meets up with us next weekend. Maybe Dawn, if she's in town any weekend that Jill is here.

:yay: I'm very excited!!!
We have plans that evening prob 5 or 6ish but that's the only thing. So hopefully when you guys head to the mall just let me know and I can head over there too :car:

The testing procedure went okay. Can't say how well they did on it, though.

I'm glad you are finished!! I'm sure you are very excited and anxious for the results....I hope they did well!

Funny story. My niece just had her testing also this week in Williamson Co. She is in 2nd grade and had told her mom the week before they weren't having them. That they (assuming she meant the school) didn't have the $$$$. :lmao::rotfl::lmao: We just thought that was so funny and that someone got this started and it just ran through the kids and with the 'bad economy' that they keep hearing about they prob. really thought it was true

:grouphug::hug:....those poor babies!! It's just hard for me to imagine what actually goes on out there b/c I'm just not around it like you are and thank goodness never had to experience anything like that. Also a BIG  for you for everything you do for those kiddos. They are very lucky to have such a wonderful teacher like you!!

I thought the exact same thing about Soarin'!

I know! The scene where they glide over that skinny but really tall waterfall even made me feel a little motion sick for just a second. And there was a scene where they swooped down into a deep gorge and glided over the water. Both those clips looked just like Soarin' to me!!!:lovestruc

My dd saw that picture and she did start to sing that song.:rotfl2: Though she listens to more Veggie Tales cds then she watches the movies. She usually picks a Disney movie.
Great minds think a like!!

MeMom, our 3-5 grades just took the Ohio Achievement tests. I know that DD9 is happy that they are over too!
So happy for you that you were able to see your little ones, even if for a brief moment!
