A trip to WDW w/NO kids? Hubba Hubba! Wink Wink! UPDATE: EXTRA, EXTRA!!! Pg 158

Cheri,
I have one answer for you my hernia was on the lower left side of my stomach and my pain was on the upper right side of my stomach. It wasn't until I actually had the "attack" that put me in the hospital was at the sight of the hernia and the incarceration. So I know you can have a problem in one spot and feel it in another. I doubt that helps you feel any better. I hope you hear something tomorrow. I am saying a special prayer for you tonight.

Michele

I have been lurking for along time but after reading your post tonight, I felt that I needed to post. I have had the H. pylori illness/disease. Let me tell you what you have been describing is nothing what I experienced however I understand people have different symptoms with different diseases. I was experiencing hard stomach cramping (like someone squeezing my stomach) especially after I had ate along with increased acid reflux. So at the time I was in nursing school and had GERD so I thought nothing of it thinking it was stress. Also I lost some weight but nothing like you are describing. Now I finally went to the dr for a sinus infection and they did blood work on me so I could get a refill on my Nexium this is how I find out and to be honest I did not even tell my dr about what I had been experiencing thinking it was just the added stress of school. That is why I wanted to post because all it would take is a simple blood test one that my dr does on everyone since I did not complain of any of these symptoms to clue him on that he needed to run this test.
Also to just to let you know they figured that I had gotten this bacteria from my microbiology class which I had about six months prior to being dx, so I had the bacteria for awhile.

Also they gave me a two weeks worth of medicine and I have never experience anything like that since, so hopefully this is it and you can get better before your next Disney trip
I hope they figure out what is going on because you have been through alot lately. Hang in there!!!

Thank you so much for posting! I actually got a call about that and I will update next...

thank you! That gives me hope that this is my only problem and that it will be solved soon!

I just received a call from the Nurse Practioner and all the bloodwork I did week before last came back just fine. So I don't have H Pylori. Whether the doctor calls me or not, I will find out the results of my Gastric Emptying Scan today and I will let y'all know!

 Oh Cheri:hug: I hope everything gets resolved. You poor thing.

I went to the hospital and got the results myself! I've learned that is the way to do it if you want answers. What a shame I have to pay for something that my doctor already has and should call me with. (It's only $1 since it's one page but it's the principle of the matter!)

here are the FINDINGS:

A time activity curve was generated. The T-1/2 emptying time of the stomach is approximately 477 minutes. This is significantly delayed. The findings are consistent with delayed gastric emptying. This may be related to gastric outlet obstruction or gastroparesis. Clinical correlation is recommended.

so the final IMPRESSION: Delayed Gastric Emptying

477 minutes! That's 8 hours!! :faint: No wonder I feel so horrible!
The "normal" emptying time is 60 minutes---which means my stomach is emptying 8 times slower than it should be. That seems pretty severe to me!! I just hope they can find out what is causing my stomach to be so slow! (Gastroparesis just means the stomach doesn't contract like it is supposed to) I know I didn't have any obstructions last year, because they would have seen it on the endoscope--so unless I've developed some type of obstruction over the last 15 months, it can't be a blockage.

Has anyone ever had this or known someone who has? I'd love to be able to hear people's experiences with this. (Should I start another thread to gather some people who have had gastric emptying problems?)

I forgot to add that I called the GI doctor to ask them if they had the results and the nurse called me back, saying that he should look at them this afternoon. She said if he feels it is urgent, he will call me. I told her, I hope he does, because I feel terrible.

I was in the hospital several times for obstruction and they would use something called an NG tube to drain out the obstruction. It would take anywhere from 3-5 days to clear the obstruction. Meanwhile you have a IV to give you your nutrition and meds. At least they have a definite idea about what is wrong and how to handle it. Now it's time for the DR to step up and earn his money.

I am glad that you got your results back from your lab. The PP is right with the txm of obstruction with the NG tube. I am angry over the fact that this has gone on for so long and nothing has been done. The doctor REALLY needs to step up to the plate because you are not doing well and you are in alot of pain. I am sorry for blasting, I know I am telling you nothing that you do not know already.

I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers!!!!

ooh, doesn't sound too fun...

I hope whatever he does, it is not painful!

man, y'all are scaring me. Okay, maybe not---I have been through so much it doesn't phase me.

Thanks!!

The NG tube isn't that bad. Especially when you think about how much you feel after the blockage is gone. Now they need to figure out what is causing the blockage. The prayer is still there.

well I don't know if it's a blockage, or if my stomach is not contracting like it's supposed to. The doc might want to do another upper GI to be sure I don't have a blockage before they give me any medicine. Well, I shouldn't say much now because I don't know what the doctor will say.

I am so sorry. Did not mean to scare you. Hopefully they will get you fix soon!!

Hey maybe it will be a simple fix. Why borrow trouble. We will say an extra prayer for you tonight.

What a struggle this has been, sorry I haven’t been around the past week to lend more support  and pixie dust pixiedust: pixiedust: pixiedust:

Yay for finally getting that HIDA done and it sounds like you were a real trooper staying so still with the pain/discomfort :thumbsup2 ::yes:: But results were normal from it??? Darn it, that whole thing of having something wrong and not knowing what it is …grrrr!

Radioactive grits :D You can really tell what region of the US you live in (no offense meant btw - as I've said, most of my fam is in Georgia). If it was done up here you probably would have had radioactive oatmeal :lmao:

What losers saying that it was “your problem” that the food wasn’t moving, so much for considerate technicians. And now the NP has called to say you don’t have H Pylori. I know it is frustrating, but at least they are eliminating stuff.

WOW – 477 minutes to process a meal??? It sounds painful just thinking about it. Now you have a direction and the doctors better step up and take steps to alleviate your pain and get you back to eating normal so you can enjoy Le Cellier!

You hang in there and know that your DISfriends are here for you and that there are lots of good vibes :goodvibes :goodvibes :goodvibes prayers  and Disney Magic :wizard: :wizard: :wizard: coming your way!!! :yay:

Keep us posted on where they're going with your treatment and don't be afraid to use a cattle prod on those doctors to keep them moving forward!

Take it easy kiddo!!! Keep us posted!!

thanks! tryin to...

Please don't feel bad for not being around. I'm just glad you stopped by!

I had a choice of oatmeal or grits, but I knew it would be easier to eat 6 oz of grits than 6 oz of oatmeal. Oatmeal is just so sticky going down.

I think you're interpreting that wrong(it's not going across the internet waves properly  )...when they said it must be my problem, they meant literally that---the slow stomach is what is wrong with me. The male tech that was there was also there for my HIDA so he knew I'd been struggling with this for a while and getting tests with no results.
Does that make more sense now? They were nice techs.

Apparently the 477 minutes is for HALF the meal to digest. I learned that thanks to Allen who is an expert in the matter. :thumbsup2 (thanks again!)

And yes, it's pretty painful. Food doesn't even taste good to me like it used to. I like the weight loss, but I would really rather be able to eat normally again. I'm too weak all the time---but, I did buy some One a Day vitamins tonight so hopefully that will help!

thanks SO much for your support and encouragement!
