A trip to WDW w/NO kids? Hubba Hubba! Wink Wink! UPDATE: EXTRA, EXTRA!!! Pg 158

 Hi Cheri - sending love  support :grouphug: and prayers  to you from me and my fam

Hopefully what 5 4 WDW said will hold true for you and they can quickly diagnose that sick gall bladder and get it taken care of! Hang in there and don't let those doctors blow you off :thumbsup2

All the best on your grandmother's recovery and sorry about the doggie too. Here's to everything turning around for you and life giving you a break :) :goodvibes :)

According to my mom, my grandma has feeling up to her knee in that left leg now! More than likely, the reason she hasn't felt anything in her right leg is because her ankle is broken (I didn't realize that...I think I may have said wrist before). The orthopedic surgeon has to take care of that, and her hip, sometime this week. She just went into surgery a couple of hours ago for her neck. That will take 6 hours. :scared1:

I just hope the doctors can fix her up!

That is wonderful news Cheri  More prayers for her are on the way!

I called the doctor's office again today, and left a message for the nurse. Even though they say strictly that they will not give test results over the phone, I really just wanted to know if mine were in. I figured the Ultrasound results would be in, but not the Celiac.

Well, she told me the results anyway. She said "the Ultrasound was normal" :sad2:

Now I have to try and get this HIDA scan done next week! I tried to get in to see the doctor for this afternoon but they were booked. I am going to call and hope for a cancellation for the morning of the 28th, so I can get an EARLIER appointment. Right now it's scheduled for 3:15 on the 28th and I have a day off to use next week so I picked that day. If they can get me in earlier, at least I'd have a better chance of getting the HIDA scheduled for the next day.
This is VERY disappointing news for me, as I was hoping to not have to do any more tests. I have been miserable for the past week, and today proves to be no different. I ate a few pieces of seedless watermelon this morning, and my stomach has been upset since then. Basically, anything I eat messes with me, so I don't eat much---and when I do eat, I get full VERY quickly.
I'm 5'0 and 110 pounds(just lost 5 pounds over the past couple days) but at this rate I'll be 100 pounds by my doctor's appointment next Wednesday. I don't know how much more of this I can take!!
They BETTER do the HIDA scan! And if that doesn't show something, I just don't know what I am going to do. I can't imagine that my gallbladder is even working at ALL right now. I've been having almost constant pain in my back, shoulder, and just below my ribs in the front.

What else could it be? I have ALL the symptoms of gallbladder dysfunction.

I replied on your other thread but wanted to here also! I just read 5 for WDW's post and OMG...you have to have the HIDA scan! It's amazing how a place like the Dis can give such great information! Hugs to you girl

Cheri, I posted on your other thread but just wanted to send you some more hugs and well wishes for your health!!!

Cheri, I hope you're feeling better. It sucks not being able to eat. I got down to 95lbs earlier this year and I'm 5'3 (my problem was anxiety though). Stupid doctors, they should listen to you! Was the test you took the one where you had to drink that chalky stuff and then do the US? That's the one my MIL did and they found her gallbladder problems. (I accidentally typed gallballer. Glad I caught that! :rotfl: )

no offense Cheri...but I hope this happens to you so you can get better!

none taken...thank you!

 Right back at ya!;) I know all to well how it feels when you can't get answers and you know there is something wrong.
I did not hear about eating trigger foods the night before but, if it might help I would consider it. The medication they use during the test (I can't remember what it was now, it has been 7 years for me) simulated what an attack would have felt like if I ate something that triggered them. That is what I meant about freaky. But don't worry, that was over pretty quickly.
I felt the same way as you. Do whatever you need to do to find out what is wrong.
My surgery was done laparoscopically. I have four tiny little scars from the incisions. I was in the hospital overnight. I came home with minor lifting restrictions. My recovery was very quick and smooth.
Hopefully if you have to have surgery, it is done quickly and everything goes well!!
Give me a shout if you have any questions.:goodvibes -Allison

I read they use an Isotope, which is radioactive material. I think they use something else, too, that pushes the isotope to the GB.

thank you so much for all the info.

glad your recovery was smooth--I hope I have the same smooth recovery when I have mine out (I BETTER get this sucker out after all of this)

thank you Mike!

well I have some semi-good news about that...coming up.

All the best on your grandmother's recovery and sorry about the doggie too. Here's to everything turning around for you and life giving you a break :) :goodvibes :)

Thank you! I'm so glad she has been gaining feeling in her legs. I will continue to update y'all on her progress.

thanks! I'm tryin' to make that happen with the stomach thing...

That is wonderful news Cheri  More prayers for her are on the way!

thank you! I KNOW the prayers help!

If they do them this weekend, I am going to try to get one. You'll see how in my next post.

 thanks! I needed that!

wow, you must have been so frail!!

No, just a regular Ultrasound with the goop on the belly.

gallballer....:lmao:

Hang in there Cheri! :goodvibes

thanks! I'm hanging....:goodvibes

Okay, SO since I'm really tired of waiting, and I can't seem to eat anything without feeling sick...

I called my current "REGULAR doctor" (who I've only seen once, by the way, for an ear infection) and HE didn't have anything open today, BUT the Nurse Practitioner is going to see me at 2:45!!!!!!

I'm hoping that if I tell him about all my problems, and all the hassle I've been through, that he will order the HIDA scan for me. The scan would be done at the hospital where I had my Ultrasound done---so I know they are open to do tests on Saturdays, it's just a matter of whether they do HIDA scans this Saturday.
So I'm praying for 3 things
  1. That the practitioner will pity me and order the HIDA scan
  2. That the hospital does them on Saturdays
  3. And that they will be able to get me in TOMORROW so I can once and for all find out for sure!

Obviously I also hope that they determine that my gallbladder is working less than 35%....I think that's the point where they advise removal.

Since I wasn't sure if NP's could order tests, I did some research (okay, I googled :rotfl: ) and found this:
http://www.womenshealthchannel.com/nursepractitioner.shtml

and the most important bullet in there was:
  • Ordering, performing, and interpreting diagnostic studies (e.g., lab tests, x-rays, EKGs)
:yay:

Now...do y'all think they will order it???? What are my chances here? :confused3

Cheri,
I have found that nurse practioners are generally more sympathetic, so hopefully the one you sre seeing gets things going for you. I'll say a special prayer for you. Also that is great news about your Grandma.

Actually, he WAS really nice. I liked him a lot. Basically, he didn't want to step on my GI's toes, so he didn't order the HIDA scan.

He ordered some blood work--a CBC (which I had done last year most recently), a TSH (which I've had done THIS year already), a "Complete Metabolic Panel w/eGFR" and a Helicobacter Pylori -- whatever that is.

He mentioned my liver, and that is what the CMP is for. I tried to get him to order the HIDA for me (nicely) but no luck. He prescribed me Zegerid which is for GERD (a type of acid reflux disorder). I guess I will try it even though things like this have not helped in the past.

The nice thing was he didn't sit there and say I had IBS (although it did come up at one point) over and over like my old doctor.

I also thought it was really nice that he went to the hospital intranet and was able to pull up my ultrasound from last week. He wanted to see it himself b/c he said the nurse at my GI doctor probably would not have seen if I have "sludge". So he did confirm that the ultrasound was fine. I was glad to have that confirmation, especially after his comment about the nurse.

Now I'm back to waiting it out for the appointment on Wednesday with the GI doctor and they BETTER order my HIDA scan or I will go buck wild on them and they will have to put me in jail!!

I'll go have the bloodwork done tomorrow morning, since it has been ordered.

I'm soooo jealous. How on earth did you ever get to go? I know alot of peolple will probably disagree with me, but I think he is so hot.:lovestruc

uhhhh I'm special :confused3

Good luck today! I hope all 3 things happen! Come on nurse, order the test!!!! :cheer2:

thanks for the hopin'! I wish he would've but it was a no-go. At least he was a lot nicer and more sympathetic than any others I've been to.

i dont think that was really you , but a good look alike.

isnt that s how taped in Hollywood, and you are down south.:confused3

:rolleyes1

I forgot to tell y'all I was at the American Idol finale...

Check it out!

I'm glad that he at least ordered some more blood work. That stinks that he wouldn't order the HIDA scan but that was certainly nice of him to look up your ultrasound and talk to you about it some more. Sounds like youg ot more information from him than the GI doctor.

I really hope your appointment on Wed goes well.

Our girl's pediatrician is actually a NP and had been their PCP since DD11 was a baby. She is MUCH better than many of the doctors both my wife and I have been to and really goes the extra mile.

I'm glad that the NP you saw did so also, even if he wasn't able to order the HIDA scan. Hopefully your PCP will get it together and get that test ordered. In the meantime here's to that Zegerid helping you and letting you eat something!

Oh, and yeah - I'm with Dan in thinking that wasn't really you. Us guys are such cynics ;) :lmao:

Just checking in to let you know I'm thinking about ya  Wednesday will be here so fast! You fight hard for that HIDA scan girl! We know you will :thumbsup2

Lucky you...getting to the AI finale and right next to Leona Lewis and Simon Cowell ;)

thanks! 4 days!!

I hope he orders it too (it's my GI doc that I'm seeing though, not the PCP)
well...I guess I need to go fill it huh  Mike told me I shouldn't. I may wait and see what happens Wednesday (and whenever the HIDA is) rather than taking any more medication since I've taken SO many. He said it would take 8 weeks for it to fully take effect, but I don't understand that---seems like a long time!
I've taken stuff like that before and it's never helped. :confused3 Since I will most certainly have my HIDA way before 8 weeks is up, I am just gonna wait and see what happens with that. If this HIDA scan doesn't show gallbladder dysfunction, I'll be FLOORED!!

:goodvibes

oh, he's hott alright!

he's good looking, but that hair really throws me off. He needs to do something about that--and dress better too :rotfl:

Just checking in to let you know I'm thinking about ya  Wednesday will be here so fast! You fight hard for that HIDA scan girl! We know you will :thumbsup2

thanks! I hope you are right. Wednesday can't get here soon enough for me! Weekends usually go by quickly, and I am off Monday, but work Tuesday, and off Wednesday again. I am going to try calling again Tuesday to see if I can get in at an earlier time, if someone should cancel.
It's not going to be easy sitting at home WAITING for 3:00.

Have you also changed your name to Carey?

:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

no silly, that's my friend's album--he was the one who was TAKING the pictures...duh! :rotfl:

Cheri,

At least he was proactive, that's a step in the right direction. I am impressed he didn't go with the age old IBS diagnosis that seems to always be the stock answer. I went through that one for over a year. Stick to to your guns kiddo. Good luck next Wednesday.
