A trip to WDW w/NO kids? Hubba Hubba! Wink Wink! UPDATE: EXTRA, EXTRA!!! Pg 158

Hehe, thanks much ...I just need a good couple of days in a cone of silence and I'll get through it :surfweb:

The start and end of your trip looks good, hopefully DH will figure out something he wants to do/see that first afternoon. And it is very cool that you have an almost full day to end on :-]

He probably won't. I asked him yesterday on our walk if he wanted to do Mini Golf...and he said "whatever" I'm hoping he might have some idea of what he wants to do once we actually GET there. I'd love to go to Disney Quest that first night BUT since it's a Saturday I am thinking it will be crowded with a lot of local kids. What do y'all think?

Yes! love that last day, too!

And glad you're able to keep up :thumbsup2

I didn't do it either...it's all Sharky's fault....shame shame on you Sharky!

:rotfl:

:lmao: rrriiiigggghhhhhttttt, I still don't think I've made my way over to yours yet, DDad :confused3

your itenerary's for the first and last days sound awesome. And if you DO run into me and my friends at DTD you better say hi!! They won't care. And if they do, they can shove it up their noses with a rubber hose! you could always treck over to Pleasure Island with us. The more the merrier. I'll need someone to toss a few :drinking1 back with. :thumbsup2

:yay: for DIS meet on the 18th!! :yay: Still can't wait. Did you get my email!?

You'll be fine on the airplane. Just bring a good book or something. I LOVE to fly but DH hates it. I almost convinced him to fly this time but he thought it was too expensive. :confused3 excuses excuses. Maybe one of these days I'll convince him to go for it.

oh are you a Welcome Back Kotter fan? LOL
Thanks for saying I can stop and say hi. I definitely will! I don't know about all the beers though....LOL

I can't wait, too! Yes, I emailed you back silly. Wait, this post was probably from yesterday. :confused3

I think I must've confused you...let me explain....I said I was freaked out in a GOOD way...as in OMG I CAN'T BELIEVE THAT I WILL LEAVE NEW ORLEANS AND BE IN WDW IN ONLY 2 HOURS! :woohoo: :yay:

But I do plan on bringing my variety puzzle book. And my earplanes. That plane ride will go so fast it will be a piece of cake! (recalling my 11 hour flight to Hawaii last year...)

There's no way I would've put all the miles on my car. So we would have rented a car if we drove. For us it was definitely more cost effective to fly.

oh! And I forgot to mention that my DH is being the exact same way Mike is being about what to do down in WDW. mine is making me do all the work. Every time I ask him what he wants he just says "whatever you decide on is fine". He's just along for the ride. Ugh! :headache: I love to do the planning but a few inputs from his end are nice every once in a while! Especially when I ask for them! :headache: So, I totally understand your frustration.

that's so funny! I'm sure they will get along GREAT! I'm glad I'm not the only one with these feelings.

Well belive it or not, I'm in the same boat ......except it is my whole family that is saying "whatever works for you, we'll be fine with"

wow, might be able to use that to your advantage though. If they complain, you say "You told me that whatever I said goes" :rotfl2:

Well I've got to head home soon, BUT I'm staying a few minutes just for y'all. I have the infamous clown story ready! (and a little bonus story)
Coming up in a couple minutes!

I promised you a story, and you’ll get a story! It may not be about Disney, but funny nonetheless!

Well, let me start off by saying…My Grandma is a strange woman…as many of you already know. When my cousins and I were little, we used to get the WEIRDEST Christmas gifts. I mean WEIRD! We could tell that she would find things around her house and wrap them up! LOL Much of the time it would be a bunch of little things all wrapped inside a PURSE---a purse made for an older woman usually (we were little girls) and she probably got them as a free gift when ordering something out of a magazine---we could just tell. She’d put in them things such as nail files, small lotions, and whatever else she could find that would fit in there(but no bacon  ). Once, I remember finding WRINKLE cream in there! What is an 8 year old supposed to do with WRINKLE CREAM? :confused3 I think there also may have been a toothbrush(still in package from the dentist office LOL), nail clippers, red lipstick (free gift nonetheless), and a magnet (she makes them herself and tries to sell them LOL)

Now that we’ve grown older, she’s gotten into buying HALF our gift brand new, and the other half either comes from her house OR she goes to the thrift store.

So now that you all know that…let’s fastforward to the present-time…or let’s try 2-3 years ago. (cue dream sequence) It’s Christmas, and the family is all gathered around exchanging gifts after filling up on turkey and all the trimmings. This particular year, I don’t remember what any of us got except my Dad---his outweighed anything else….
Let me attempt to describe it to y’all…it was a black tube-like thing, but all bristley, and bendy, so picture a letter C and that’s the shape this thing had. He opened it, and wasn’t sure WHAT to say. Grandma said it was a BACK SCRATCHER. He said, “oh yeah, alright, yeah…” and began to use it on his back. “Wow, it’s really rough, I think it’s going to scratch my skin off. Boy what a scratcher it is!” LOL Turns out, I think it was something for a CAR! What was she thinking? :confused3

If that wasn’t enough, I have more! Yes, of course---you wanted the clown story, right?
Well here it is!
Let’s go to the year after the back-scratcher incident….(cue dream sequence again)
We’re all sitting around once again, exchanging gifts…and Grandma says “I’m sorry, Calvin, I only got for the girls this year so you’re going to be without a gift.” The look in his eyes was priceless :cloud9: ---he was so RELIEVED! So I get my gift…first, a lotion set of some sort—I like it. Next (gotta have that non-bought gift in there)..it’s a PLATE from her collection---it’s a pretty plate, but I just don’t collect them like she does. So as I am thinking, “wow she’s getting better with the gifts; even though it came from her house, this is pretty.”…until I see my sister start to open hers…
She gets a nice (fake) set of earrings and necklace. Go Grandma!
And then it happens.
She opens the other box.
And what’s inside?

No….not Disneydad.

Not red lipstick.

It’s a CLOWN ON A SWING, people!

Let me try to illustrate:
clownswing.jpg

This picture does not do it justice. This is PRETTY compared to that thing she gave my sister. It was all beat up and scary looking! I wish I had a picture! I don’t think anyone took one though.
I suggested that my sister wrap it back up in a shoebox and give it to Mike for Christmas. (He was at work when all of this exchanging was going on and he and I were going to my parents’ house the next day which was Christmas) So, that’s what she did! She wrote in the box: her name, date she received the clown, along with a couple of sentences explaining the silly gift. We decided it would be a game of pass-it-on. Mike thought it was hilarious, and gave it to his brother, who then gave it to a friend of his. I don’t know where that darn clown is now. But if you ever see it…now you know where it came from!

The end.

Now I must head home. Hope y'all liked it!

Next up....some other pictures...of what you ask? well just find out when I post them!

NEXT: UPDATE: Free Money & a mini story!

That just reminded me of the movie "A Christmas Story." I was so expecting you to say that somebody got a pink bunny suit and had to get dressed in it and walked down the stairs looking like a "pink nightmare.":rotfl:

That's why I started planning a year ago ...hehehe

And yes, I love gathering info and planning stuff (I even built a website around it :lmao:) , so for me it is an escape from the stress of my job. Everyone in my fam procrastinates horribly and DW's family are all about what can go wrong.

Probably a good thing they aren't directly involved ;)

yes, it does sound like a good thing that they aren't involved. At least you have had PLEANTY of time to get things planned to a "T". :thumbsup2 I hate it when people are negative about Disney thinking that things will go wrong. Even if something does go wrong, Disney always goes above and beyond to make it right.

:woohoo: for being in the lead!

Love the MM pic! But what is up with those rainbow shorts? :confused3

:lmao: who cares what he's wearing!? He's still HOT! :thumbsup2

 no not really.

yeah, just gimme a call to find out where we're at and you can hang out or whatever. I will for sure be drinking but I will not be drinking piss water (aka beer), I can assure you of that!

I got your emails today but no reply from the one yesterday. :confused3 maybe I deleated it in the midst of all the DIS emails? If you did could you please send it again?

Oh! Doh! haha , thanks for clearing that one up. You will be in disney in NO time. I on the other hand will have a 7 hour drive!!

Yes, I forsee our DH's getting along very well.

The beginning paragraph TOTALLY reminded me of "National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation" :rotfl: toooooo funny!

That's so crazy about the gifts that she gives. Your grandma is so silly. I wish I had a relative like that. That clown gift would have totally freaked me out though ("can't sleep, clowns will eat me!" ) I hope I never come accross it in a gift from a friend :lmao:

Yes, I'm working from the PoV that I'll plan well and then just let it roll. If things (or I should say WHEN things) don't go as planned, we'll just wing it and have fun with whatever situation we find ourselves in. No matter what we'll be at Disney and that's all that matters!

Great funny story! That clown sounds like quite the piece of work. And you were all able to start a twisted gift-giving tradition that has gone beyond family and out into the world. If an ugly swinging clown comes my way I'll know who to thank ;)

I look forward to more pictures :yay:

Oh! Doh! haha , thanks for clearing that one up. You will be in disney in NO time. I on the other hand will have a 7 hour drive!!

We're leaving on the 14th (your b-day - yes I'm reading your TR, too. Your b-day is the same day as my friend's) and we're driving from PA.

If we drive straight through and don't make potty or food stops, we can be there in 17 hours. My husband has informed me that he will be doing all of the driving himself. That would be perfectly fine with me if I didn't need that passenger side brake pedal for when he tailgates:headache: . Not only that, but I really don't want him to be grumpy when we get there. I'll be forced to leave him at the hotel.:rolleyes1

hah, you're reading my report too? have you posted there?

we were gonna travel on my bday too but when i couldn't get dinner at LTT like i wanted i decided i didn't want my bday to completelyl suck by having to be in the car all day as well as not getting the dinner I wanted. So now, like you've seen, we'll be at MK for my bday :woohoo:

Trust me, I've done that LONG long drive from south (boca raton) florida to PA (brookville) many MANY times while growing up. It stinks so bad. What posessed ya'll to drive instead of fly!? My Dad would always drive the whole way too. I'm sure my DH would do the same thing. I hear ya about needing that break pedal on the passenger's side too! My DH is horrible about tailgating sometimes. :headache: I hope you guys have a safe trip!

I think you'll have better luck with the mini-golf than with Disney Quest. On a Saturday that place will be sooo busy :scared:

wow, might be able to use that to your advantage though. If they complain, you say "You told me that whatever I said goes" :rotfl2:

Yup, I'm giving them all kinds of opportunities to put in their thoughts and ideas. If they don't want to make the effort they get to come along for the ride on what I consider fun ......wheeeee!

I found my ADRs!!!!!!!!!!!

Here's my list:

Sat. 9/15 LTT - Dinner 6:30
Sun. 9/16 50's Prime Time Cafe - Dinner 6:35
Mon. 9/17 Akershus Banquet Hall - Dinner 8:05
Tues. 9/18 Planet Hollywood - Dinner 6:30
Wed. 9/19 CRT - Lunch - 12:30
Fri. 9/21 Chef Mickey's - Dinner 8:00

Somebody please tell me Akershus is good. That's the one I'm worried about. I've never been there. I originally had ressies at the Grand Floridian Cafe, but my son didn't like their menu, so I changed it. Anybody know anything??

We have done all of them and they are great!!

We did Akershus last year and LOVED IT!!!

The food is great...If you are a cheese eater, you are going to be in heaven, as was I:cool1: :cool1:

Sorry about that Bacon pic......that must have made you want to yack....:rotfl2:

LOVED the Grandma stories!!

That is so hilarious about the clown!!

I remember having a ballerina that sat on a swing, that I got one year for Christmas...... I hung it in my room for a few years...it was cute:cutie:

I love that fact that the gift got passed around a few times and might still be going around, for all you know:rotfl2:

exactly :thumbsup2

Haven't posted on it yet, I haven't read the entire thing. I will though. You did eventually get LTT ADRs, though, didn't you?

Eww, Brookville. I have to go there for work sometimes. Absolutely nothing to do in Brookville or anywhere else around there. Well, there is the Clarion Mall with, what, 2 stores in it? Flying just wasn't in the budget this time. Maybe next time. Bad thing is - no air conditioning in my car. We gotta use the ghetto a/c (the windows).

Thanks for the info! 50s Prime Time and Akershus are the only ones we've never been to. Cheese is ok - I could take it or leave it, depends on what kind.

Yep, I was ready to hurl at the bacon pic. Its all good now, though. Thank God I didn't go back to those first couple of pages of this thread and find the crawfish!! ACK!!!!!!!

One word of advice...Eat all of your vegetables...:lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

haha it's all good :thumbsup2 I know how it is to come in late on pre-trip or trip reports. I'm glad to hear you are at least lurking though :thumbsup2

yeah, brookville sucks. There is nothing to do there. The Clarion mall is the WORST!! I was there after thanksgiving last year. haha but it is the only thing to do, other than go see a movie or something. We were there for a week visiting my grandmother and I was going stir crazy by the end of the week. My mom and sister were working on a puzzle to pass the time. I hate puzzles and I even joined in :rotfl:

that sucks that there is no air in your car.

:rotfl: ghetto air! I love it.
Eww...I hate vegetables! Is that bad?

Sept. 15 - YAY WE’RE GOIN’ TO DISNEY!!
-Wake up at about 6 AM (unless of course I am “too excited to sleep” and end up waking up earlier)
-Get ready and pack up remaining items in car (will probably put main suitcases in the car the previous night and keep our toiletries and carry-ons inside until this morning)
-Kiss the doggies goodbye
-Leave the house by 6:50 AM
-Arrive at my parents’ house by 7:30 AM to pick up my Dad (and grab a cup of coffee :coffee: )
-Probably drive my car so that we don’t have to transfer all the luggage---and head to the New Orleans airport.
-Arrive at New Orleans airport between 8:15 and 8:30
-Plane departs at 9:55 AM
-Arrive at 12:50 PM Disney time!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-Take the ME to All Star Sports Resort
-Leave our carry-on bags at the desk
-If we’re starving and can’t wait, we’ll grab a bite to eat at the resort. If not we’ll head to our first destination! (after all, we probably won’t be able to check in—unless our room just HAPPENS to be ready 2 hours early)
-Maybe play mini golf? Maybe go to DTD/DisneyQuest? Maybe go to Magic Kingdom to get our first dose of real Disney magic! I really am not sure yet. And Mike is no help. He said “whatever you want to do” I know most people would LOVE to hear that, but I’ve already planned this whole thing out and I’d love him to at least have some input into the planning. It’s hard to decide what to do when we get there!
-If we go to DTD, which will probably end up happening, we might run into Leger13 and her DH, but we won’t say anything because she’ll be with her friends.
Maybe catch the early show at the Comedy Club at 7 PM (if we have the energy). I hear it’s very funny, and I LOVE all comedy, especially IMPROV!
-Go back to the hotel whenever we feel like we’ve had enough and get some sleep.

Sept. 21 THE SADDEST DAY (BUT we get almost a whole day!)
-We have a nice long day to do whatever we want! Probably hit our favorite rides and attractions once more before we have to leave our magic World!
-Of course the first thing we’ll need to do is bring our luggage down EARLY in the morning, and leave our carry-ons at the resort, too. Then we’re off to enjoy our last day!
-Possible DIS meet! Disneydad really wants to meet me like I'm a celebrity or something, so I'll bring my picture to autograph it for him! ;)
-We’ll have to be back at the hotel around 4:30ish? to take the ME bus back to the airport.
-So I guess we’ll have an early dinner before we go (maybe at World Showcase again!) or end up eating at the airport. We’ll play it by ear.

And the 18th's itinerary didn't change much...just that we're meeting Leger13 and her DH at 7:30. I think I had said that we wanted to be there a half hour before the EMH opening anyway...I'll check on that tomorrow.
We still have our Le Cellier lunch and I've been calling and calling trying to get a dinner, so the plan is still TS lunch, CS dinner.

I'm so excited to have been able to plan out our first and last days with TIMES and everything! I think the thing that freaks me out the most (in a good way) is that I'll be on a plane for less than 2 hours, and then in Orlando! It will only be my second time flying. We've always always driven that 10 hour drive to Disney--and I imagine if I go with my parents again (and I'm sure I will) I will be making that drive again sometime in the future. Now I'm going to be spoiled from this plane ride and the drive will probably seem a lot worse! But anywho, I get to go to Disney on a plane and be arrive during the DAY! How freaking cool is that?! :woohoo:

Up next....Clowns and pink socks...and Christmas!

Sounds great, you are gonna have so much fun. I LOVE flying to Disney, that 2 hour thing is so awesome, sure beats a 18 hour car ride for us (thank God you don't have kids when it comes to the traveling piece : ) I hope you do check out the comedy club, I love comedy too and hit our local club here for great shows and would love to see how it is down there. You're getting CLOSE!!!

That just reminded me of the movie "A Christmas Story." I was so expecting you to say that somebody got a pink bunny suit and had to get dressed in it and walked down the stairs looking like a "pink nightmare.":rotfl:

LOL :lmao:

 no not really.

yeah, just gimme a call to find out where we're at and you can hang out or whatever.

That clown gift would have totally freaked me out though ("can't sleep, clowns will eat me!" ) I hope I never come accross it in a gift from a friend :lmao:

okie dokie I will hunt ya down. LOL

you mean my reply to your very first email? I'm confused

7 hours is not bad!

that's a good movie! love the Christmas lights! LOL :rotfl2:

The clown freaked ALL of us out. Oh that would be HILARIOUS! Maybe FPTigger should go out and buy one hint hint FP for you and pretend it's the same one!

Yes, I'm working from the PoV that I'll plan well and then just let it roll. If things (or I should say WHEN things) don't go as planned, we'll just wing it and have fun with whatever situation we find ourselves in. No matter what we'll be at Disney and that's all that matters!

Great outlook!

Ahhh, gotta love family :D

Great funny story! That clown sounds like quite the piece of work. And you were all able to start a twisted gift-giving tradition that has gone beyond family and out into the world. If an ugly swinging clown comes my way I'll know who to thank ;)

I look forward to more pictures :yay:

:rotfl2:

We're leaving on the 14th (your b-day - yes I'm reading your TR, too. Your b-day is the same day as my friend's) and we're driving from PA.

If we drive straight through and don't make potty or food stops, we can be there in 17 hours. My husband has informed me that he will be doing all of the driving himself. That would be perfectly fine with me if I didn't need that passenger side brake pedal for when he tailgates:headache: . Not only that, but I really don't want him to be grumpy when we get there. I'll be forced to leave him at the hotel.:rolleyes1

good luck with that drive! And I thought 12 was bad!

exactly :thumbsup2

hah, you're reading my report too? have you posted there?

we were gonna travel on my bday too but when i couldn't get dinner at LTT like i wanted i decided i didn't want my bday to completelyl suck by having to be in the car all day as well as not getting the dinner I wanted.

:headache: I hope you guys have a safe trip!

tailgating is only a good thing when no one's driving and you're having a few drinks!
:rotfl:
