A trip to WDW w/NO kids? Hubba Hubba! Wink Wink! UPDATE: EXTRA, EXTRA!!! Pg 158

sorry, the others that are coming on the trip are trying to figure out their transportation to Disney since 2 live here(my Mom and sister) and 2 live in Destin (friends) and one of the Destin folks just REFUSES to fly. And she doesn't drive, either. She got in an accident when she was learning as a teenager, and has NEVER driven since. I know that must have been terrible, but I just couldn't see myself going through life without learning to drive---I hate to depend on other people for ANYTHING. I just don't know how she does it!
She wants my mom and sister to drive to Destin the night of the 12th, sleep there, and continue on the next morning (the 4 of them obviously) to Disney.
*Actually she thought all of us would, but Mike and I are spoiled now and will only fly* :snooty:
If we all went by car we'd have to rent a vehicle big enough for all 6 of us, which is just another expense anyway.
My mom is a nervous driver, and doesn't have a great sense of direction so I guess that's where the concern comes into play. She would much rather fly with us, and they should be able to afford it just fine---so the question is, will our friend's daughter (the 4th person) be willing to drive in the 5 or 6 hours it takes to get to Disney?
OR will my Mom and sister have to meet them so they can all ride into Disney together the next morning?
Oh, and my mom's friend thinks that my Dad is going to get mad that my mom is going, even though he hasn't made a complaint---just said it was "too soon" for him.

Sorry, that turned into a much longer explanation than I set out for it to be!

But...no, you can't vote twice. Umm...your kids can vote ;)

Okay, I get it. So how long would it take your mom to get to Destin? I'm with you -- I think I'd rather fly. We did the driving thing last year and I don't think I'd do it again unless I really HAD to.

Why would your dad get mad at your mom? For not taking him? Well, if he doesn't wanna go, it's his loss, right?:snooty:

My kids say Hall of Presidents (Kyleigh) and PhilharMagic (Shane).

cherbear, looking at one of your engagement pictures, looks like you might live in Mandeville, were we are. enjoying the trip report.

Little update of some sort:
I made sure I had all my Disney receipts last night (all except Sci Fi for some reason) so I can show what the cost WOULD have been on all our food.

I also realized that the receipt for Cosmic Rays on the 16th (from the last update) says "Turkey" but I don't remember ever eating Turkey. :confused3
Not even a turkey sandwich. I thought we had a chicken sandwich. But I could be wrong. Or they could have it wrong. Who knows.

Then I looked through my camera at all the pictures, and wished I could see them bigger. I enjoyed reminiscing. And I can't wait to show them to all of you! I forgot about some really funny shots we got. Looking through them also made me realize how many potential pictures we MISSED. I think I will be stealing the camera from Mike a lot more this September. We are supposed have a small group this time, so they will be able to take some pics of us, and we'll have a lot more going on in the photos. I'll be able to get them to send me some photos too. We'll have lots of different perspectives. Should be fun! :thumbsup2

Since everyone likes a good comic strip...

KidCellphone.gif

wow that comic strip is so true...kids with cell phones...:confused3

and I saved all our reciepts from last years trip and dang it was alot of money saved..Narcoosees over 500 bucks alone....

and to looking at old Disney Pics and reminiscing...

:thumbsup2

yeah probably not that bad on the way there but on the way back would stink for Mike for sure. Not fair to him. Plus you want to maxamize your WDW time, not make it shorter by having to drive. :headache:

Hope they bring the morning flights back :goodvibes

yeah I am just such a brat about it now. I wanna fly, fly, flyyyyy!

thanks!! I am hoping!

about 4 1/2 to 5 hours I think. I checked the estimated driving time from my mom's friend's house in Destin, and it's 6 hours and 20 minutes from Disney. Usually those go by driving speed limit and end up over-shooting the time, so I'd say 6 hours maximum for them. That doesn't seem so bad. If I lived in Destin I'd drive to Disney.

Thanks Kyleigh and Shane! We shall see...

But that makes 8 votes!!

welcome! That is where those were taken but I live in Hammond.

thank you...I hope you continue to enjoy. I recently linked everything so that you can pass up all the banter very easily. Enjoy!

Lesley, so glad to have to here again! I'm SO SO glad to BE back! Yeah, Mike is a big goober. Had the wait at Splash Mountain been a long one, I'd have been flaming at that point. I don't like losing precious time at WDW! and there he was, just watching me look for him. I think he knows better than to do that again (at least I hope).

Glad you could see me in the pictures. I'll try to take better ones this year.

More...coming up!

Chris votes that you go to the Haunted Mansion :thumbsup2

And that makes 10 votes (including the 4 proxies :lmao:)

Do you know what THAT means? :confused3

Yo, ho, Yo, ho…
No I’m not calling anyone names ….it was a pirate’s life for us! We headed over to Adventureland, and hopped in the line for a 10-15 minute wait. :thumbsup2
We got some really dark pictures on this ride, but I’ll post the better looking ones for you.
First…this one:
Disney2007093.jpg

100 points to whoever can tell me what in the world this is? Does anyone know? :confused3

Although these 2 came out really bad, I’m posting them b/c it’s always been my favorite scene in this ride.
Disney2007098.jpg

Disney2007100.jpg

the doggie holding the keys!

I also got one of Jack Sparrow  but it’s nearly unrecognizable. Well, at least I wasn’t one of those rude people with the flash on, right?

Though this wasn’t my first time riding with the new stuff added, I will comment on my favorite additions: Jack Sparrow (of course), and the eerie Davy Jones projection in the water. I’m very pleased that they didn’t completely changed the ride, and only added to it. (By the way, in ’06 we waited over an hour to get on Pirates—in mid summer! :faint: )

Now you may be wondering, what about BTMR? Unfortunately we never got to return, because it was down for a while. I am not even sure if it ever started up again that day. And besides (I know I’m going to get reamed for saying this) it’s my least favorite “thrill ride” at Disney. Don’t get me wrong, it’s a lot of fun! Maybe it’s the queue that gets me. And since I had never been in the off-season before, there was always a long line when we rode.
I would have been kicking and screaming if I couldn’t ride Splash or Space Mountain. But for some reason BTMR is not at the top of my list.

Forgive me for my fuzzy memory, but I know we went back to Monster's Inc. Laugh Floor at one point, but didn't take any pics, so I'll just fit it in right here. I just HAD to try submitting another joke...but it didn't get used. Oh well, there's always this year!
Now, the one thing that did crack me up, was before the show. For those of you who haven't seen this yet, they entertain the audience by putting people on camera very briefly at the beginning of the show. They put captions underneath the person's face, things like "Wants to get up and dance" (and they make the person get up and dance), "thinks that guy is crazy", etc.

The reason I say this is because....Mike got "spotlighted"!!!! He was just sitting there, and looked away from the screen for a moment. At that moment, up pops his big ole head and the caption read: "Doesn't think this is funny" :lmao: He still wasn't paying attention at first...so I had to draw his attention to it, he looked up, and laughed coyly. Everyone was cracking up...it was a really great moment.

Well…unfortunately that’s all the pictures I have, until my external hard drive arrives. I don't want to go any further without all the wonderful pictures. Sorry kiddos! I KNOW for a fact that you all have patience , so just sit tight and I’ll try to find some things to entertain ya til I’m able to get the pics! (I'm hoping that's at the end of this week)

Hope you enjoyed the update!

Next Installment: Day 2: Part 4 - Little Mexicans in Fantasyland!

Darn! I was wrong :headache:

That first picture I think is the guy that is holding the rope that is tying up all the "fair maidens". Am I right?

The part with the dog holding the keys is me and Chris' favorite part of the ride too :thumbsup2

I must say that BTMRR is not one of my favorite rides at MK either. Definitely not worth the time to wait around for it anyways if there's a long line. I actually had never ridden it until this past March :rolleyes1

:lmao: about Monsters Inc catching Mike off guard. That is TOO funny!!! I always get nervous and think they're gonna put the spot light on me. I can just imagine what his face was like when they put the spot light on him. :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: That stinks that your joke didn't get picked again. Chris' got picked. I was surprised because it was kind of corny.

I've waited this long for udates, I suppose I can wait a little while longer. Walmart needs to hurry up and send you your hard drive!!!!!!

I find that BTMRR is better for me if I wear my ear plugs.:confused3

I HATE the clacking sound while you are in the cavern. It's sooo loud!

oh yes, that was really really loud. Ear plugs are a good idea. The ride is fun and all but I think they need more theme to the ride or something. :confused3
