Have you ever noticed this trailer at the PoP bus stop? Is it used for anything?
After a late night (early morning), the kids want to sleep in, but I didn’t come down here to sleep, so I head over to EPCOT for the 9:00 rope drop. It is already hot and humid and there is no letup in sight. We are allowed as far as the Fountains and wait for the opening. A CM from M:S is talking to a family in front of me and when he finds out it is their first trip he presents them with first timer badges. He tells them all about M:S and how neat it is. I have to agree. Once again Disney planning is evident as CMs from all of the attractions line up to escort people. At the rope drop it is a typical mob scene complete with a ten year old boy falling down and being trampled. His parents haul him to his feet and drag him sobbing and bleeding from one knee as they continue on.
I FP my favorite ride, Soarin’ and get in line and ride after a 15 minute wait. I then do NEMO. I miss the old Living Seas but if my kids were younger it would be ok. The winding walk back to the Seacabs took longer then ride itself. I now use my Soarin’ FP and enjoy the ride once again. For the first time I notice the mountain climbers in Yosemite and the several other new items. I am on the hunt for pressed pennies and get them in Canada and UK. There are few people in World Showcase and it is nice to wander around without a crowd.
I get some cookies and sit in the shade when I am visited by several ducks. Yes, I fed them some crumbs because they were very polite and said it was alright. A family sat down 20 feet away and a 5 YO boy got out his light saber and you should have seen the ducks take off. They must have experienced the dark side previously and wanted no part of it again.
I left the park at Noon and returned to the resort.
RANT: People, please have the stroller folded Before you reach the bus door, have your bag open before you reach bag check, have your park pass ready before you reach the turnstile!! I cannot fathom what people are thinking as they watch the people in front of them going through the motions needed to complete these tasks!
I must also comment on how many nice things I witnessed. Every bus ride resulted in someone giving up a seat to a needier rider. People taking pictures of another family so everyone could be in the picture.
I met up with the kids for lunch at Everything PoP. They had slept in and then drove around looking for the Disney Outlet store since the on at Belz was closed. They found it at the Orlando Premium Outlet and said there many good deals. We agree to go back tomorrow. I asked them what park they wanted to visit and of course it was EPCOT. Although I had just been there that morning, it is my favorite park and back we go. It is now so hot I swear we were three miles from the sun. In our previous 4 trips we never spent any time in WS, and recall one my goals was to the American Adventure, so we spent the afternoon on a walk around the world.
BTW: I had been in the Canada store getting pressed pennies that morning and when we went back in the afternoon, the CM said "It is good to see you again, Mike" which stunned the kids, but this is why we get name badges.
We are returning for EPCOT EMH in the morning, so just stroll around. We headed over to Club Cool for a drink. Scott has not experienced the Beverly, so we laugh at his reaction to this vile drink. We head back to the resort for supper where I have the Chicken Alfredo for the second time as it is quiet good.
Tonight we want to see Fantasmic, so on to MGM. Our bus driver was a Puerto Rican lady named Lolita who kept us in stitches the entire ride. We had to sing the wheels on the bus song or she would slow down. She made up new lines to the song including the wipers, the horn, brakes, etc. Way to go Lolita!
We sat in the middle towards the top where the assisted hearing sight was and it is a good location. It never ceases to amaze me the marketing strategy Disney uses at every opportunity. They were selling a motorized string spinner that captivated everyone. They must have sold a dozen just in our area and they were fun to watch. Fantasmic was fantastic as usual, this being Scott’s first experience. We could see fireworks from another park over the backdrop of this show and it looked good even this far away.
The park closes at 10:00, so we hang out and shop while the crowd thins out.
At least that was the plan. The PoP bus stop is backed up clear into the next stop and it is full of tired, whiney people. This not like Disney, but never fear, three buses in a row pulled in and we were back at the resort by 11:00. All week the bus system has been superb and we only waited this night for more then 20 minutes.
I was apprehensive about coming here in June because of the heat and crowds, but with EMH and FP, we experienced everything we wanted to so far. The CMs have all been so nice. We wondered what effect the union vote would have on their (CMs) cheerfulness, but they have been great. We found out that they voted for a 21 cent increase.
